Good point, this is one of the fancy things that I would call a high embodied energy feature and perfectly avoidable. This is just a concept design and is not thinking in the environmental and sustainable way, is just a megalomaniac fancy feature that cost a lot of money and I wouldn't mention the money for maintain it, just a "very high embodied energy building" that is paid with the last drop of fossil fuel and his owner the Arabic empire.
@kamal6991 That's right, I like Hadid a lot and also Calatrava and Gaudi because they follow nature. In nature nothing is built with exact angles. But I also like Lautner, Wright for example.
Nouvel's ideas are always amazing. Unfortunately, in the real world, behind the flashy surface, the practical details and maintnance of his creations is a nightmare beyond common sense.
Do you want to live in this kind of architecture? Not me, no way. I feel really uncomfortable in these giants of steel and glass, some are looking like machines. I prefer a more organic way of architecture
This guy is not helping the environment at all! he use a disproportional amount of steel in the Arabic Centre without any care about the environment and either the people that lives in this world. He is a genius but a genius for disaster!
jean nouvel, zaha hadid, tadao ando.. my most fav architects :)
I have been in one of his buildings in Madrid, and I have to say that every detail was incredibly precise.
Another brilliant video. I'm applying for Architecture in the UK for 2011.
Thanks!
i know what this architect is doing!!! He is using fractal patterns and fractal logic in his design process!!!
