George Reeves’ Clark was the only one to have friends other than the Daily Planet crew.

There was that and he played Clark as a competent reporter who you could actually believe was able to hold his job. Dean Cain's Clark was also portrayed as competent, and I seem to remember him having a few friends outside of the Daily Planet, but nothing like George Reeves' version.

3 of the 4 actors in this episode would show up on I Love Lucy! Herb Vigran would go on to a very long career as an every-man character actor doing guest spots right up until the year before he passed in 1986. Saw him on Dragnet, the FBI, etc. Richard Reeves (no relation to George) and Dick Elliot would also show up on movies and TV shows but both died in the 1960's. This is what made Superman such a good show, particularly in the first 2 seasons. All the bad guys and a few good guys in the episodes we would see both before the show began and after. Solid character actors, all of them. Henry Kulky, Crusher in this episode, also went on to a solid career, with co-star roles on Hennesey in the 1950's and the first season of Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea before his untimely passing in 1965 at age 53 from a heart attack.

Great group of familiar character actors here: Dick Elliott, Herb Vigran, Richard Reeves (no relation to George!) and Henry Kulky. Watch a random movie or TV show from the 50's to the 70's and you're bound to see them! Kulky was the first CPO in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea TV show right before his untimely death, Elliott also was Mayberry's mayor before his death, Vigran showed up many times on I Love Lucy and Dragnet as well as Reeves. Reliable, solid character actors.

Kulky also played a character called Otto Schmedlap..not sure how that's spelled..on the old Life of Riley tv series with William Bendix.

I love the pants that blinker had on, belt with suspenders. Just like my grandfather wore and that was 75 years ago. Back in those days, they had 2 feet long zippers.....hahahaha

Metropolis would be surprised if they were to see Superman in a wrestling match.

The black and white episodes had much more drama than the color episodes, especially the first season. Wish the producers had stayed with that format

Funny how Clark says "Hiah Sam".......and Sam says back "oh pretty good." I think Clark was supposed to say Hi Sam...how are you..

This probably is due to the low budget on which the show operated. They probably couldn't afford to shoot the scene over.

Too bad that in this episode Superman wasn't officially in a wrestling match. He would be the winner anyway because of his super-strength unless his opponent would have super-strength also.
