I watched you every day when I got home from 1st grade, Superman. You (and a few others) taught me what heroism was. For me, George Reeves was the ultimate Superman.
Had the great opportunity to work with and meet Jack Larson , what a wonderful experience, we broke for lunch and he regaled me with some great stories of Hollywood , his career and of course George. Nothing but praise for him as a person and an artist.
Honest George "The Peoples Friend!!!" What an appropriate nickname he had, they his friends called him that because he was a soft touch. He actually would give you the shirt off his back.
If only George had lived to see how many people loved and admired him. The greatest and most iconic TV star of all time with that million-dollar smile...RIP, good friend.
Yes he was everyone's Superman I love George Reeves special to kids that were born in the late 40s early 50s that was our rest in peace Superman AKA George Reeves the greatest of all time
There are only 3 worthy of the name Superman. Christopher Reeve. George Reeves. And the first Superman, Kirk Alyn. But for me, there is only ONE Superman in my thoughts & heart. George Reeves. May these 3 men long be remembered.
George Reeves unlike other actors played Clark Kent with a lot more confidence, self esteem on himself than any other Clark Kent on other Superman series (movies). That was admiring and made Clark Kent a lot more like a somebody on The Adventures of Superman.
The single best episode of Superman in the entire TV series. Watched it as a kid almost 65 years ago, and it is still my favorite. In fact it is the only episode I actually remember, start to finish!
I agree. I would have loved to have met George Reeves. Just like the character he portrayed , according co-stat Jack Larson , George Reeves was very noble. I only hope he knows what a great TV star he was . Not many people remember Clark Gable and the like but almost everyone still remembers George Reeves
Excellent video montage. I missed the original TV music while Superman is flying. My friend says the title reminds her of a very panicky quicky in the sky she once had inside the bathroom of an aircraft on final approach while landing at JFK.
Kirk Alyn was the only actor that looked like Superman. Muscular and the spit curl..He was offered the role but after two Superman serials , he turned the TV series down .Reeves was allergic to the padding in the costume. He spent less than 30 minutes a day wearing it. He was tall but not muscular. He was a passable Clark Kent but he looked nothing like Superman. Stunt doubles did all the hard work..They spent 12 hours a day in the costume.. Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh were muscular and kept the spit curl.. The special effects on the TV series were pathetic..I watched a few episodes but was not impressed..
I watch superman when I was a kid too years ago on an operating table my heart stopped I found my self floating on the ceiling my soul could do the same thing I saw superman do.strange hay!
What a great smile he had. Can you imagine what George would have looked like at the end of the Christopher Reeve movies instead of Chris ? It would have been great fun to see him do a full length movie in color. George Reeves is one of those people I wish I could have met. And a recent author said that both he and Kirk Alyn were not good actors which is an insult to their memories.
@@danclark1348 Don’t be ridiculous. You should know what I meant. If there had been a full length, big budget film with George Reeves instead of Christopher Reeve as the star in George’s time. the black and white episodes were the best the first two seasons in the thumbnail he kinda looks like babe ruth a little the flying scenes were better especially on the introduction scene with the wind blowing
Jack R. Glass used mattes and camera motion to acheive the photographic effects. When Thol Simonson took over in the 3rd season, he used process photography (George Reeves laying in front of a screen showing rear-projected background images) and made a library of flying shots to avoid shooting new flying shots as much as possible.
back when young minds had hero's even like the lone ranger--today they are filled with cell phones and drugs---and they will some day be our leaders i hope i am dead by then
GEORGE Reeves was always the real Superman to me loved the program and never missed there was always something wonderful about how George played Supermanand he also had a ton of charisma!!!!
This is noteworthy; Superman was warned by the scientist that the meteor/object threatening Metropolis/earth could contain kryptonite, or could pose some other threat to him. Superman's reply: "Well. that's a chance I'll just have to take." This is the definition of a REAL hero; somebody who is willing to risk his life for the safety of others. But this is why he's Superman. "No one has greater love than this, that someone should surrender his life in behalf of his friends." JOHN 15:13.

Este foi o Super-Homem que conheci na infância, e era retratado nas histórias em quadrinhos. Os dois melhores foram este, George Rivers, e Christofer Reeves.
Supermqn got married to Lois Lqne, (secret elopement) a standard earthen vessel, Lois was yet she got pregnant with having Superboy, cannot recall what they call their son, yet afterward Lois made a good mother, once Superboy bent an iron skillet of hers in the kitchen before cooking breakfast, spanked him hard and broke her hand,,then Superman take him out back to the tool shed and whoop his briches with an iron pipe and the pipe broke in two,,,so discipline came with making his son fly 10 laps around the world - twice. He grew up to whoop bad terrorists. And win
I had a lot of TV programs I liked and watched as a young boy but the “Adventures of Superman” was my favorite and I never missed an episode.
The original was one of my favorite episodes as a kid. Thanks!
I watched you every day when I got home from 1st grade, Superman. You (and a few others) taught me what heroism was. For me, George Reeves was the ultimate Superman.
It's a shame he couldn't have lived to see what a
phenomenon Superman would become.

Panic in the Sky was the best episode if the series. This episode also had the best special effects of the entire run! Love this show!
In 1 of the 1st season episodes of the Superman TV-Series on ABC in the 1990‘s,the plot was like that from the episode of the original Superman series
It is the most expensive half-hour episode.
seeing this gives me goosebumps! A thrill seeing our hero in action. One can only admire a person giving so much of oneself for the benefit of others.
A great tribute to George Reeves. Thanks for creating this one-of- a-kind video. Sad that he's gone, but his memory lives on. Awesome video Ted!!
Honest George "The People's Friend!!!!!"
A very appropriate nickname for Mr. Reeves indeed!!!!!!!!
Would you want to see him at a 107 years old? I didn’t think so.
George Reeves was one of a kind. A super human being who gave so much to those around him in so many ways
YOU ARE CORRECT MY CHILDHOOD HERO

Love the classic SUPERMAN!!
What a VIBE!! The feeling captures the real Superman zeitgeist. Full of innocence, goodness, self sacrifice and charisma.
George Reeves was the perfect Superman. The role suited him to the max. He was and always will be my first super hero. RIP George.

Dreadful, when I was a child I got anxious to watch this episode so as to get terrified ... !
Note how more complex the flying scenes were in the earlier shows Superman is viewed aloft from all different angles, not just full-length flank.

No there was no satellite orbiting the earth in the 50s.This was just an updated edited piece to pay homage to Superman George Reeves.
Panic in the Sky was one of Jerry Seinfeld's favorite episodes.
I didn't remember posting a comment 3 years ago! Still awesome and sad that he's gone.
Reeves would've loved it
truth, justice, the American way. :(
That satellite in orbit is as big as the moon lol;
That music still makes me want to fly
Panic in the Sky was an excellent early episode.
The later episodes started with a diesel train instead of steam, as the series faded.
the best Superman… still
Great job!
Visualize Biden as the asteroid and Trump as “well you know!”
There's always gotta be one jackass to make it political and ruin the escapist nature of the video.

A much kinder, gentler time.......
Really a pity. The bullet was more faster in 1959.
WHO EVER IS,DOING THIS STOP FUCKING AROUND WITH THIS SERIES. YOUR IN COPYRIGHT VIOLATION.
Did you know his costume was knitted from the blankets that came with him on the rocket from Krypton? Not a lot of guys wear blankets to work. lol
They do if they are incontinent .
Epic tribute to my hero🥰
NICE
How did this show form the 50's show a satellite above the earth before sputknic was launched?
This film was "made" (fictionally) in 1959. Sputnik and Sputnik II had already been launched into orbit IN 1957, as had Vangaurd.
Panic in the Sky was an episode broadcast Dec 5, 1953. Of course they knew the potential of satellites before they launched them.
My one and only favorite Superman. My 2nd. pick would be the late Christopher Reeve.
GREAT !!!!
George Reeves was a very nice man. He adored going in public with children.
back when tv was not filled on EVERY CHANNEL with sex and smut i loved it
