there is actually a bit of missinformation going around about the "Level 4 Sentry". That "Level 4 Sentry" isn't actually a level 4 sentry upgrade but rather a boss that you would fight against in the cut Raid gamemode. it's model name is "boss_sentry"
Oh that's interesting! Many of the sources I looked at referred to it as a Level 4 Sentry. Guess the information out there is still a little scrambled. Pretty sure things will become a lot more clear once the dust settles a little more.
You're the one who is sadly slightly misinformed. The Level 4 Sentry was for the raid gamemode but not as a boss, instead it was a mode specific upgrade for the Engineer. There is another bigger sentry with a teleporter on it, that one is the Boss Sentry.

@@LambdaGeneration Also some half-life files that were in the leak like Rfink or Ratfink by the late & iconic Hotrodder & Cartoonist Ed "Big Daddy" Roth (he made a bunch of iconic cartoon characters in the hotrodding scene in the 1950's too mid 1970's together with Surfink, Mothers Worry, Mr Gasser (A type of dragster.) & a bunch of other characters by him.)
That model was cut from the Half-Life: Further Data CD that had maps, some player models etc & was probably intended for half-life deathmatch...

After talking about it with one of the Last Stand team members, it makes me really mad that this happened. This leak has caused Valve to go back into their shell, killed any possible community updates for L4D2, and stopped ganting Source 2 licenses.
Blame the leakers. That includes a lot of people from VCC Discord, as a lot of the earlier repo leaks we got came from private discord chats where licensees under NDA were doling images out like candy. They really should scrap the license thing altogether and open the asset repo up to the public finally like they said they would years ago. They'd need to restore the ton of pre 2007 repo content that they wiped from the repo years ago though.
lmao no. Valve is gonna be valve. You had whole leak of hl2 and yet source 1 was open. Valve is no longer old valve because companies all become shit. Piracy is based because why give money to company that will be shit later?
If valve wasnt privately owned, they would've been canned a LONG time ago. Just by the amount of leaks, no investor would ever feel safe working with a company like valve again.

To be fair, Valve's stingy and inconsistent policies on licensing the software and files made this inevitable (at least now in hindsight)
Valve wasnt interested in anymore community content updates after Invasion, and still refuses to let fans fix the game, while refusing to fix it themselves. It was only a matter of time before the community heads that still had access to all this snapped and took action
One of the most saddening leak is the female merc concept arts. It shows us that at one point, Valve considered female characters but scrapped it due to hitbox and cosmetic issues. I wish they had included them though. Blonde scout and grandma demo are my favourite.

Good video. And I would argue this is probably one of the better videos covering the leak. Yeah it might not go into too much detail, but at least it didn't devolve into fear mongering or baseless speculation.

I'm not bothered by morals with this leak. It's all stuff that's been released, or will never see the light of day. Not like the HL2 leak that was an active project at the time. In fact, I think old content leaks are good for game history preservation.
I actually don't care much about leaks, but i love your videos so here i am. If anything i'm happy that Valve is doing something at least.

Why on earth is your tf2 gameplay using the training mode? I can tell you’re playing against bots instead of online mode with players
I'm not a very good TF2 player 😬 So instead of showing myself dying the entire time in the video I decided to just play with bots instead for a better, less cringy viewing experience.

TF2 isn't Overwatch's biggest obstacle (and literally never was - they're two fundamentally different games), It's Activition/Blizzard.

Turtle Rock was not Valve South during the development of Terror-Strike, the Valve South title didn't exist until 2008 after TRS sold themselves to Valve.
Additionally, the leaked data originates from ~2020, not 2016.
Additionally, the Portal player model photo is from leaked content from 2016 that was included by the leaker for unknown reason. The leak is from a separate source and does not involve the licensee Perforce.
The leaker provided a lot of irrelevant data with the leaked files. Such as Half-Life 1 texture sources that were leaked eons ago got randomly shoved into the "materialsrc" folder for Half-Life: Source, despite having nothing to do with HLS nor being from where the files originated from.

I imagine the leaker just gathered other leaked content over time and had it all mixed together on their computer.
@@nixel1324 Not quite. Leaker got licensed with a studio and jammed random old leaks in with the files to try and make a more "complete" version of the data.

I'd say that instead of it being a 'tf2 fans dream', its more just a final nail in the coffin. It essentially solidifies that we, as the TF2 fanbase, are not getting any more content whatsoever outside of community skins, hats, and maps. Nothing like Jungle Inferno, the Gun Mettle update, ecetera.
We've know this for a few years now. People just have a borderline impossible time accepting it.
I still see no reason for valve not to do anything regarding tf2 because of that leak. I mean, imagine if you are a book writer, you make many successful books, and then someone just shows everyone a bunch of your scrapped notes and ideas, would you stop writing books because of that, considering all of those notes and ideas are long gone and have been decided to be either reworked or not used at all?

I wish we managed to get hands on the source maps for both Opposing Force and Blue Shift. What I am really interested in is the cut gamemode TF2, one of them is Red vs Blu team but with weapons upgrades.
