I personally would like to see how you would adjust your approach and adapt to changing conditions ( weather, water color, flow rate, fishing pressure, etc).
@@Socalbaitfinesse That's a good idea. Flow rate is only by rain here. On waters with reservoirs, there really isn't planned discharges, especially with projected flow rates
My favorite part of your reviews is the fishing! Your videos remind me of old PBS shows in the best way possible. Man, you are alive….nice to see you again, I really missed your contents. I have one small stream to fish for trout (brown trout). Very limited casting space (flip casts, underhand backhand casts) due to intense brush where I exclusively use 3 short rods (4.2). 2 of which are glass rods (Palms Egeria Native, Major Craft Finetail Stream Glass) and one of which is carbon (Tailwalk Troutia Feerique). Lure weight up to 4 gram => glass rod, 4 to 6 gram carbon rod. Lures mainly minnows…Rapala Ultralight, Duo Ryuki Series and Megabass Great Hunting Series. I absolutely love this kind of mountain stream-ish fishing! Hope you are well and we will see lots more from you! Greetings from Germany…
Long time coming Arne. I have been away for various reasons. I am back now and will be uploading when able. Although headwaters, this stream is in a swamp 😆
Just discovered your channel and Instagram recently. Wow! Glad I did. I’m an ultralight spinning guy but am into a lot of the same gear as you. My interest in ultralight BFS for creek fishing is growing. Your reviews and demonstrations are so well done. I have been trying out several of the 1-3lb lines from Varivas and I LOVE them. Perfect for catching panfish and trout.
Your explanation for how to load the rod tip is probably the most useful tip I've ever received. I switched my Curado BFS to 4lb. Twitch Master, and using your advice this combo casts like a dream.
I bought this rod after watching this, and fished it with my Curado BFS XG with 8lb. braid (because that's what was on the reel and I didn't have any mono.) Casting was dismal understandably. I have some 4lb. Varivas Twitch Master that I'll try next. So far it's a fun setup because it is so light and maneuverable. Glad you're back.
Good to see you back . Currently got two glass rods , one is the glassfin but rarely use it now because I’ve got a resilure custom rod that is as good to look at as it is to fish .
Wonderful, I just received a trout signal trsc 48ul rod. Looked for information on the internet without finding any. And now this video appears. Seems like a good rod for the money.
Yeah. Not knocking people making content, just those who hop on a trend and regurgitate what others are saying just to exploit an audience to make money.
Here in Japan, they have a 4'3" five piece pack version of this as well not sure if its available in the US yet. TRSC-43UL/5P currently around ¥14,000. perfect for a b/u in my vest pack!
Welcome back, it's been too long!!! Quick question.. budget glass rod like the Dan Kung / Finetail Glass or the Trout signal for creeks and rivers throwing mainly minnows/plugs, spoons and spinners?
Can't really go wrong any way. Small streams, the Dan Kung might be a touch too powerful. The Trout Signal will give you the most versatility of the three rods. If fishing for trout less than 8in, I'd do the Finetail Glass in the UL power
What would be a rod that you would recommend for the Great Lakes trout and salmon? Would love to chase after some in the river systems. But of course they’re much bigger than your typical mountain stream trouts.
I'd be Interested in your take on the $125 and $200 (separately) range between China/Japan/USA BFS rods for this half of 2024. There's very few people who are posting content with experience on both ends of the spectrum; $500 JDM imports and $75 Chinese imports. How much in raw performance (casting/sensitivity/action) are you getting by spending $300 on a mid-tier JDM vs $125 on a top-end Chinese rod. My perspective/situation is - while I can save up for a higher end rod; i fish the bank (salt and fresh) and live in an apartment. Stuff happens and babying a $500 rod and having that weight on my mind while fishing isn't comfortable. If i had a boat, with a rod locker and a soft deck - that'd be a different story.
I'll say there definitely are diminishing returns when spending more money on trout rods, and rods in general. Mid-tier rods are nice but, the subtle improvements go unnoticed by most people.
Thank you for the knowledge drop, video, and continuing the sick lip blade!!! Although where I live in FL we don't have stream Trout fishing, however I find myself having a need/want for a short glass flick type rod due to fishing canals that have limited access for full casting due to trees, brush, & the like. Any suggestions on a more budget end BFS rod of that type that could handle potentially Large Bass, Cichlids, & Peacocks? Thanks much as always much appreciated!
Dang...thats tough. Id recommend a glass rod just for the durability. You could hook into some pretty big fish down there. Might be better off getting a short Ugly Stix and some braided line.
@@HobieWanKenobi What about a cheaper Chinese glass rod of some kind, as if it breaks somehow not a lot of money wasted. I’m seeking that type of precision casting under overhanging brush etc. as you perform on those mountain streams. On many of the canals the conditions are quite similar as far as casting from tight spaces to those aforementioned areas. Thanks for the input, what is the model of Ugly stick you are recommending?
I just got into BFS, as of now I have the zephyr ( clicker) on a 4'8 ul rod. So far the lowest I can go is 1/8 with no issues. 1/16th I get nesting if I don't focus.
The Zephyr is a decent reel for the money. If you put some aftermarket bearings in there, it might do slightly better. I would skip that though and jump to a different reel if you want to go lighter. Just focus on casting lures you will actually use and dont fall into the hype of casting micro lures you wont actually fish with.
It is all relative. This price range is considered "budget" because many people associate trout BFS fishing with expensive gear. There are many decent rods at less cost than this one.
@@HobieWanKenobi "Just focus on casting lures you will actually use and dont fall into the hype of casting micro lures you wont actually fish with." the most based and arguably the most important statement someone can say about bfs fishing. theres people who consistently catch fish.... and theres people who make skunk reports of their .7g lures they were throwing. just something i noticed.
