    Great cooler, I have the AK620. The Deepcool fans leave something to be desired though. As others have mentioned in reviews, and I experienced this myself...the fans have a weird oscillating hum when they are ramped up beyond "silent mode".
    I replaced my fans with Lian-Li SL120s, and even with the extra 2mm of width the fans have, the outer fan sits right on top of the G.Skill Trident Z Neo RAM modules.
    The cooler does not hang over the RAM, but the outer fan does, but without issues. It is a tall boy though, and almost touches the side glass panel on my o11 Dynamic XL!
    Not sure if it is just my system, but the digital display with blink off occasionally, then back on. Furthermore sometimes the temp reading gets stuck and a reboot is required, as ending the task doesn't seem to work properly.

    Is the software absolutely necessary for the cooler display to function. Or just to change settings like from C to F. And it has it's own temperature sensor. And can be uninstalled after used. Like, what if the computer freeze. Do I always have to wait for the PC to boot and log in and the softwar to start to have the display show me the temps? What if I'm using FreeDOS or a form of Linux boot or just playing in the BIOS. No temp?
    I'd like something that will show temps without running anything.

      No. I covered this in the video, but there is a 5V addressable RGB cable. That needs to go to a matching header on your MOBO. It’s possible that’s what your LED_CPU connector is. But the other connector is for a USB 2.0 header. That’s how the software communicates with the cooler.

    • @DannysTechChannel
      @DannysTechChannel  7 місяців тому +1

      I haven't tried the AK620 myself. From the looks of it, some ram sticks might have trouble. Their website shows 47mm of clearance from the bottom of the fan to the motherboard surface. I can say, the AK400 and 500 wouldn't cause any trouble since the fan doesn't extend past the CPU socket. With the 7700x, I'd recommend the AK500 cooler. ua-cam.com/video/2FDtUx-YjNI/v-deo.html

    I love this idea, but I run Linux, so this would be a no go because of the software. I like how some keyboards (like Wooting) have the ability to run their software through a browser, making them compatible with any operating system. I'd like to see this kind of thing become more widespread.

      @@DannysTechChannel That's my guess, since it's an .exe file. I would think they would have a separate version for Linux (.deb, flatpak, etc.) if they supported Linux. I didn't try the .exe to see if it would run through wine, etc. but for basic stuff like this I'd rather it just work rather than having to tinker to make it work and wonder if any kind of updates or changes would break it. I'm by far not an expert in Linux, but have been using it for a few years now and don't use Windows much at all except at work. I've come to really like it and feel the pros far exceed the cons, at least for me.

    • @DannysTechChannel
      @DannysTechChannel  4 місяці тому

      Thanks for the compliment. The answer is kind of. You can still use the digital, you just won’t be able to use the RGB end caps. I don’t think they will light up at all if not connected to a 5V ARGB header. You will be able to control the display since that is ran from a USB 2.0 header, assuming you have one open. Lastly, I wouldn’t use the FK120 fans with the AK400. They are designed to be used with the fan that comes with it. You could create turbulence if going with something different. Just try it. If it doesn’t work or sounds bad, just swap it back to the stock fan.

      No, it’s just a little LED that shows CPU temp or utilization. It’s not that complex

    Orange risers for team Orange, should be no surprise. I was more surprised that the Intel ones weren't Blue.

    hi new sub here, can i ask what air cooler will you recommend for R7 5700X?

    • @DannysTechChannel
      @DannysTechChannel  4 місяці тому +1

      Since it’s a relatively low power CPU to begin with, any tower cooler will work. I like DeepCool products, or Thermalright if your on more of a budget

    This cooler is going for what equals $150 in my country which is absolutely ridiculous, nearly double the price of the Arctic Freezer i35 which is the cooler I plan to buy, nonsense. But I think that's because it only now started becoming available, in fact, I just found it in a local site an hour or 2 ago from one seller only.
    I think I'm going to wait a bit more for more availability and I'd rather go for the ZERO DARK version when and if I could find it here at a reasonable price.
    Why this over i35? The i35 non-RGB version doesn't come with black heat sink, the RGB version, well, comes with stupid fan RGB which I don't like, also the fan can't simply be replaced in case it dies without having to replace the heat sink with it which obviously is a no, no to me.
    Sure there is other options out there I can find but none got my attention like these 2, ultimately, due to the current price anyways, this one is a no for now.

      They sent the product for review, so I guess you could call it sponsored, but I don’t get paid so technically no.
