I get a lot of questions in regards to training to be a Marine Raider and Recon Marine. While these are great aspirations we all must start on the yellow footprints. After months of work and planning, Josh Honsberger and I have developed a 12-week training plan called USMC PREP for $35, to assist those individuals looking to take up the challenge.

There's nothing you can do to prepare for mind games and that's all Marine Corps boot camp is, for example you'll run back and forth till you go crazy then roll around in the sand pit for the dumbest reasons. It's designed to break you, so just suck it up and push through it. It definitely does help being physically fit.

Great advise for new Marines. I severed 2001-2005 MOS 0621. My only regret was not trying to advance to recon or snipers. I don't think Marine Raiders weren't reestablished until after I EAS. The Marine Corps was one of the best decisions of my life, I find myself thinking about my time in a lot. Good times, good people

I’ve been waiting for you guys to start specifying What aspiring Marines can try to do to get their PFT score up. Nick, I really want to do what you did. FORECON first, then do my MARSOC A&S and qualify, then be a Raider for the rest of my career in the USMC. You guys are huge inspirations to me and I can only hope to be as good as you guys are. I want to push myself to be the best Marine I can, preferably the best in my unit. I had one question though. I live in North Carolina, and I know you guys are set up somewhere in NC. Can I get the address of The Raider Project building so I can come over there and meet you guys? Or would that not be appropriate? Once again, thank you for being fucking awesome. Keep up with the great videos.

Tamaryon lawrence I’m currently a Junior in HS, so I don’t want to be super obnoxious and bitchy. It’s just I’ve always wanted to be a Marine since I was like 6 years old, and only recently, like a few years ago did I find out about MARSOC. I was originally going to do FORECON right out of SOI if I had the chance, but now that I know about MARSOC, I’m still going to try and do FORECON because I feel like it will be a stepping stone and it will allow me to be more experienced when I get into Irregular Warfare and the stuff Raiders do. If I can, I’m going to get that parental sign off so I can get a basic training date at 17, because I want to get in there and start doing shit ASAP.

James, TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR BODY
you will need your ankles, knees and hips. Sometimes you may want it bad but your body will not be able to do it. MARSOC is a young mans game and you need to stay fit and healthy.

I leave for bootcamp in 7 days. I can do around 17 pull ups, 100 crunches, and I can get my run time to at least a 12:30. Is this alright to go in? I know I pass all the qualifications but is this decent to start?

5:28 - 5:33 ..................you can also do that from the foot end of your bed, or even your dining room table (if it is strong enough and long enough).
You bend down all the way so that your head is less than 6 inches from the floor and you're facing upside down.
What this does is strengthens the entire lower half of your back so that you can carry more weight on your legs because half of that weight is being carried by the muscles in your back, not any of the muscles in your legs (for example, carrying a wounded person across your back with a firemans carry).
It also stretches your spine a bit, but I don't quite know how that is a benefit to your overall health. Maybe you wake up quicker because your back muscles don't atrophy while you sleep.

I cant tell you how many times on patrol dehydrated and exhausted I thought back to boot camp and how i would wish things were as simple and easy still. Thank god im in one piece and home. I think bootcamp is like high school, seems challanging when you go through but you look back and wish college was as easy lol same thing, you wish the fleet was easy.
My advice, RUN RUN RUN. If you cant do 6 or 7 pull ups you will receive some extra attention to get you to speed or out

I’m 18 and I stay up playing video games all night lol cause my schedule is messed up, I eat pretty healthy though, I used to be overweight but I lost a lot of weight and muscle, so I’m trying to workout to build more of it, idk if I would be able to just qualify as soon as I walk in or not so that’s why I’m trying to prepare, I can do like 5 pull-ups lmao, I’m 5’7 and 145-150 pounds

My pe in my high school is a literal joke. We do one circuit which is
Run 1 lap on the track (400m)
Stretch (they don’t teach us how to stretch and they don’t force us to stretch so most people just sit there until stretching is over)
    Leg lifts for 30 seconds
    20 curl ups
Run another lap around the track
10 pushups, rest and do another 10
    Plank for 30 seconds
We usually do that circuit at least once every week. Every time we do those circuits I hear so much complaining that it creates such a negative atmosphere. We never warmup before stretching and our stretching session is f*ckin useless. Usually everyday is either running or walking and it’s just gets very repetitive and boring.

you can get physically prepared for basic but I promise you unless your dad was an USMC DI there is no friggin way you will EVER be ready for the mental shock, yeah there is all these videos showing what it's like.... it's bullshit its way worse. at least back when I was hit San Diego in 1993 for not 12 but 16 weeks of training. its pure hell especially the first full 7 to 10 days before things start to feel normal as if pure chaos ever feels normal lmao but you get what I mean the mental tear down and rebuilding there is no way to prepare for that cause all DI's run their own show. I know this will sound weird but I kinda miss the chaos.

I know it’s old but it’s really not that fucking hard. Just play sports in high school then join. You will be fine getting the exercise and staying in shape. If you are worried about boot camp you will never make whatever else you want to be.

I find the beginning of this video not to be true at all coming from someone who is currently right now busting their ass to make wait for the DEP and when I walked into my recruiters office at 218 needing to get down to 174 my recruiter never once shut the door on me or said I’m sorry you’re just not what we want, and yes it’s with the USMC not the USAF

i find it very hard to believe the stereotype that if your are a "gaming enthusiast" and academically inclined you can't be a good soldier. i have a strong there are currently badass soldiers deployed right now studying/reading a few hours then run some games on a console or laptop. then still kickass in combat.
i would like to break this stereotype. i am a math teacher and a registered master eletrician and i play a few games every now and then. i intend to atleast do the same PTs while working and continuing education. (atleast enough to pass PT for a fireman/police/jail officer).
    rock on guys!

So I bought the usmc prep book but it’s obvious I need to have access to a gym, and where I live in my county all the gyms are shut due to the whole covid-19, what do I do, it seems like I can’t even continue with the workout regiment at all

Man this is perfect, I have been looking for a structured routine since I talked to my recruiter and got into the DEP. Looking to get this ASAP as I ship in late January. Just one question before I do, am I able to use this without a slew of work out equipment? I only have access to some dumbbells and a treadmill due to my work schedule, and no access (or the monetary means) to a gym that fits into my schedule. You just got yourself a new sub, your tips and charisma have inspired me to hopefully do more when I get into the Corps, wanted to get to Recon then into the scout sniper program, now maybe MARSOC is in my future. (If the wife approves ha!)
