Nick, this is the best piece of advice that I've seen delivered via YT. At the end of the day, people that need lots of hand-holding through the preparation process likely do not have the personal attributes for SOF assignment anyway. When I went through selection (SFAS), my only preparation guide was an SAS selection handbook I purchased online. For six months, there was a lot of running, ruck marching, and strength training. It sucked but it worked. I spent 15 years in SOF after being selected... best job I ever had.
So I'm only 15 years old and I'm trying to prepare myself and risk my life at any cost I want to join. I wanna make sure before I turn 18 to be disciplined. I quit playing video games a long time ago and I kept telling myself that I will join in the Military since I was 12 years old, now I'm 15 and I keep my word as a man. Every day I woke at 04:00 and I'm training even if I'm going to school.
I wish I had that motivation and drive when I was 15. Keep it up and good luck
This kind of attitude is awesome. Keep it up and never give up on that ambition. My advice, beside what was said in this video which is far more important but after that maybe Consider Army or Navy SOF. With enough pressure on your recruiter you can get yourself a SOF contract and go right into it. With the Marines you need to have been enlisted for at least 3 years and an NCO. If Marsoc is your dream then don’t fucking listen to me and get after it, but if your dream is SOF then the think about it. You’ve got 3 years to make that decision so no amount of personal research is gonna hurt. Good luck killer
Ya. Don’t show up with new boots, if you cannot judge the weight of your ruck without a scale, you are not ready. If you cannot swim, oops, go home. Grate video. Be in SHAPE!!! Run, Ruck, Swim and PT!!! 😊
Great as in, very good. Grate as in the way great should be spelled! ( traumatic brain injury) this phone is supposed to keep me from posting goofy spelling. Glad you found a better phone than I did. 😅
When I was in the Marines there was no option for special operations. I left the Marines and joined the Army with a Ranger contract having no idea what a Ranger was other than I got to go Airborne. I think not knowing what it was going to be like was an advantage. I had no expectations. I just did what they told me to do.
Did you end up becoming a Ranger
They had force recon
Semper Fi Nick! Thanks for the videos!
As real as it gets for getting any chance of actually making it as an operator. Love this advice.❤
I just graduated as a 0311. Going for Marsoc as soon as I hit cpl 🤙🏾
Get that jepes up 03
Fuck it bro, you know you can submit a package 1 year in the Corps right?
Eat up big dawg💪🏾
I don't know if I am allowed to say Oorah if I am not a Marine yet so I'll just put 🤙
Apply everything Nick said in this video and be a good dude. They don’t usually take cocky assholes. Just be humble, train as hard as possible, and take everything seriously. You can submit a package as a Lance, no need to wait on Cpl. Just talk to the MARSOC recruiter on your base, train, and follow the recruiter’s instructions
Honestly great advice. This is what I needed to hear
Excellent advice!
That was gold right there.
Well said.
MARSOC is very secretive I really can't find anything on it. I'm just a Army guy that like to learn about other branches.
Hell yea💪🏽
Well said brother. Marine Veteran.
Admin brother
goin to a&s next april bc of my njp, 300,300 average swimmer. going to be training like a madman
I go to boot camp soon,my goal is MARSOC definitely spending 4years to train for it.
Ret E-9 here. SEMPER Fi brother
Sigint marine here. Puttin in my packet for 0372 when I rate at e-4
Remember guys, if you put in the work and time and effort, you can (hopefully) get in.
Nick I don't know if you'll read this since you're so busy and get lots of questions as it is, but would you ever consider making a video about the NSW/SO examination and how strict it is?
If someone joins the military with 3 waivers and meets all the other requirements like rank/conduct/test scores/etc. for A&S with flying colors would their medical records hold them back enough to not be given a chance at applying or being accepted into the pipeline?
Nick gives one weird MARSOC selection trick, the Marine Corps hate him…
Workout…
Professional athlete as well as work well with teams
You have to be mindful I would assume. Basically, you need to prepare for things in the now, and not have your mind wander into the future. Meaning, let’s say that the selection process is 6 to 7 months. If you’re getting your ass kicked on day two and you’re just looking at the next 6 to 7 months going through that your mind will get overwhelmed and you will tell yourself you cannot make it. Rather than doing that. The people who usually make it through are the ones who just worry about what they’re doing in the now! They’re not worrying about being punished, they not worrying about the next evolution, they’re just worrying about staying in push-up position. When they are eating they’re not worrying about the. 5 mile run afterwards the wearing about the food they are eating they take one evolution at a time then break up each evolution the tiny bite-size tasks that they have to complete with pure focus. They will also need to know how to be flexible, and no to almost be robotic, if knocked off their task and directed towards another, they need to attack the new task with vigor, that’s dropping everything they’re doing and focusing on that task whether it’s punishment or an evolution exercise.
Dr.meow says much love
They plan to make it
I am 16 years old and want to be in the marines, I’ve just recently wanted to join marsoc currently I can only do 2 pull ups 35 push ups one time and run 5:48 one mile but i am bigger so I could definitely lose more weight to make things easier I am 6’1 215lbs I think running and eating healthier will make me lose weight and by doing more pull ups and push up I’ll get better
I hope you get there bro 💪
It's something great to want to reach for. I'd say that's a good time for 1 mile. I wanna be a SEAL so I started running i had to take this week off though because I've gotten my wisdom teeth removed. Definitely work on your pull ups more but don't sweat it too much 2 is about average nowadays I'd say. My brother left for the marines towards the end of June he graduates in August.
@@amazingjoe3635 that’s fire homie
Bro those numbers at that height and weight??? Strength training and calisthenics will be your friend along with keeping your running consistent. Every waking moment you should have that MARSOC dream in tha front of your head to make it a reality. Obviously you need to serve before you put in your packet but you got this brotha. Hmu if you need more training tips.
@@amazingjoe3635congrats to your brotha. My friend just graduated from USMC depot San Diego.
Never surrender never give up fight to the desth
i remember the day i was with a dude, and his older brother, the guy i was going to jump school with, showed up, looked at me. just looked. i knew the only question i had was how to get away from those keeping me from my goal. 5:00 hit home
Hey nick my name tramaine and I’m joining the marines and I’m trying to see if I go to infantry can I transition into recon and how long should I put work to be a marine raiders?
I’m 21 about to go into marines as 0311. I max out push-ups and pull-ups & plank. 8:47 1.5mile. My swimming needs a lot of work though.
Well you got time to get better at swimming, you gotta wait a few years to tryout anyways. 👍
@@brockmorris8764 done. I can swim a whole lap underwater now with my eyes open. Two months ago I couldn’t swim whatsoever nevertheless open my eyes.
@@Brendenlmack what’s your freestyle interval times with 10x100s? If you’re not down to 1:45 intervals you need to get better till you’re there.
@@brockmorris8764 definitely gotta keep working then. But if I told myself a year ago I’d be where I am now when it comes to swimming I wouldn’t believe it. excited to see how much more I grow. Thanks for the advice!
@@Brendenlmack that’s good man, you wanna get better at swimming you gotta swim once a day 5 days a week, freestyle 10x100s at 2:15 intervals and work your way down to 1:45s. You’ll be cooking within 3 months if you’re not an absolute fuck up.
I’m 31, 5’10”, currently 240lbs (down from 285, purely from a change of diet, no exercise yet). FAT and out of shape. Going from a completely sedentary lifestyle. Spoke to a Marine recruiter over the phone, if I lose another 20lbs, he’s willing to work with me.
I quit my job this week, to focus purely on my fitness goals. Fat loss is HUGE for me, but strength training is also up there on the priority list.
Any advice for an older male trying to get in phenomenal shape within 2 months? The end of November is when I plan to sign my name on that dotted line. I have all the time in the world right now, but limited monetary resources. I have a gym membership to Planet Fitness.
So far, I’m thinking mornings: 5-mile brisk walk (3-5mph), followed by 5-minute planks. Then I drive to the gym, and do a 15-mile ruck (20lb weighted vest) on the treadmill, followed up with pull-ups (likely assisted to start).
What are some other low intensity workouts for the morning? And then, when I go back in the afternoon, what do you recommend for high intensity weight training?
I need to become a BEAST! I quit my job, so it’s do or die, and I’m not fucking dying!! I’m sick of being this fat, lazy sack of shit.
how’s it going so far
@@Montymomo It’s going! Slowed down a bit with the weight loss, unfortunately. But since that first post, I’ve managed to lose another 25lbs. I’m down to 225! I’m currently training Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Russian Sambo. Already been through MEPS, passed everything but my eye exam. Need to get a full astigmatism test at my personal optometrist, and the results will determine if I’m still eligible or not for the Marines. My cardio is WAY better than where I started 2-3 months ago, but my running sucks, still working on that. And I still need to lose another 15lbs. Overall, things are looking great! As long as my eyes are good enough, I should be shipping to basic training by the December 1!
did you do or die brother
How's your gym doing
Fucking love it!
Just as your book. Only book I've ever read in 1 sitting.
I’m 16 years old, I can do 17 pull ups and I can run because I’m in track and cross country, I want to do all that cool stuff in the military, airborne, marsoc, sf, but the thing is I want to get money, I know the military doesn’t exactly pay good and I don’t come from a wealthy background so I don’t know what to do, any advice? Also can a marine be a ranger? Bc I know it’s a army school but I don’t know same with airborne and sf?
If you go marines you will have to serve for 2-4 years before even being eligible for marsoc or recon . You can go navy for navy seal or army for ranger . Both can be achieved faster but you will have to be grunt/infantry or maintain peak physical ability for a year onward. Delta I have no idea . But money wise you won’t get Jack unless you go airforce . You can so Army navy then Sf THEN after your contract is up try out private security contracting but you must be Sf or speak 3+ languages and be in an absolute stud.
So Im in high school and I've been wanting to go to the Marines. idk if i Should first enlist to the Marines and then try out for MARSOC or to go straight to MARSOC if that's possible?
not possible to go straight to marsoc have to at least serve 3-4 years before
Try becoming a SARC they work with recon and marsoc you're in the navy but you're doc attached and doing the same thing they do plus medical. HM-ATF contract. They're hurting for people rn
I thought marsoc didn't come back until 2006 unless im mistaken
You are correct.
My son-in-law is an active duty Raider. I'm proud to say I'm in better shape than him...at playing backgammon!
