- G'day Viewers! This week I'm restoring the classic Corgi #261 Bond Aston Martin! A longer than usual video, but a pretty complex toy this one!

I've watched a couple builders restore these. the complexity of these is crazy. a sure way to make someone go insane. but you killed it. looks spot on
Yes there were some times I nearly lost it, but a fair bit of help from Bob's video did the trick, thank you.

Thanks Laz! Yeah that shield was a complete pain, without that touch of oil and just the right amount of tightening of the cap screw on the base, it would not budge.
I have two of these to restore so I have been watching all the videos on what do do. So far yours has been the most fun to watch. I like the ending the best. Ow, me brain!

I'm pushing 70 and still have my original condition DB5. The tyres are less that spectacular and the roof hatch sits partly open but otherwise it's pretty clean. I was disappointed many years after receiving it as a Christmas prez that the box, which my Mother told me at the time was "unwanted and clutters up the place" and which she duly hurled into the bin on Christmas Day, had a special instruction sheet and a spare ejecto-dude. Thankfully I still have the original ejecto-dude but I may shout it a new set of tyres. Great vid by the way.
Lucky you! People always say they must have lost all these cartons, but I reckon your story is closer to the mark, well meaning mums on the clear out. My missus swears she didn't throw out one of my Valiant Charger cartons when we last moved. Must've thrown itself out 😎 Ejecto-dude made me laugh, thank you and thanks for watching.
Hi, PB! I’ve seen this model done several times on UA-cam and each time I’ve thought, ‘No way. Way out of my league.’ Too many moving parts, not always complete, expensive ordering replacement bits, etc. Hats off to you! (Oddjob reference). You did an expert job. Totally enjoyable to follow your process. Yours could now be a tutorial video on this Corgi casting. Congratulations on a job well done with every moving part doing what it’s supposed to do! I have a sentimental fondness for this car, as the Goldfinger chase scene was filmed on the Furkapass (2,429 m) - one of the most awe inspiring Alpine passes, and not for from my home in Switzerland. Big thumbs up from me and Q! 🍁👍
Thank you Andrew. Even the guy who sold me the parts reckoned I wouldn't be able to fix it, which was kind of weird. It was certainly a challenge at times, but next time will be easier.

Really good Refurb 👍🏻😎 . My Bond lost his head in 1965 soon after I got the car which I still have . I never found it either . I was quite careful with the toys . I figured it’s a design fault maybe . Thin neck ?😂
Thank you. You must be right, I would have thought his head would have been pretty durable. At least you know its not just you I guess!
Love the model specially the machine guns . If things look complicated when starting a photo from a camera phone might help as a guide

Great job PB! Oh my, this brings back bad memories haha this was one of my first restos. I had the silver one from when I was a kid. I tore it apart never to work again! Corgi Bob did save the day but I never finished it! This model is an engineering marvel!

Absolutely top form from start to finish on this one P.B.!! :) Loved the thumbnail for the video, the sound effects, the 007 theme music, and that fantastic discussion with Bond at the end! And that car is looking awesome after being repainted and rebuilt! :)

I purchase couple eBay. Sold as parts. I think i would b able to make two car. Git gold and silver. Funny the silver a little bigger. Be good if I can 3d the parts I need. Both need figurines, ejector seat, roofs and tyres and mayb windscreens. O well I guessing would be cheaper but another one. Cheers Graham.
The gold and silver versions are different castings, I think >some< of the parts are interchangeable, but I'm not sure which ones. The recover toy website lists some part as 'suits 261 and 270' and others as either / or. The Ejector Seat is one of them.

I restored multiple corgi toy cars myself, especially the VW 256 and DB5 models 261 and 270, mostly with spares from other cars, no repro parts.
For a DIY or how to vid, the car to often is of centre in your vid (instead of your hasty - sped up- fingers). So your vid would benefit from adjusting the cam and slowing down the important steps.
Superglue fogs the windows of the toycar, if reassambled too early (what you did not!👍). I think you should mention that. Don´t get me wrong. I appreciate what you do. But it should be a more patience thing. Not so much a getting the job done thing.
And yes. The baking soda stuff really freaked me out!

Thank you Robbie, sorry it's taken so long to reply. That spring can be a pain. Are you using a repro ejector seat? I found the repro I had was a much softer plastic than the corgi original, which of course means it flexes a bit, which doesn't help. I 'm not able to post pics here, but if you'd like to send me an email I'll do my best to get a closer pic of how it goes together for you. I'm flattered you'd ask my advice on this, I'll do my best to help!

@@quarryfield thank you very much. The baking soda is said to help harden and strengthen the bond of the superglue, it seems to be the case as I’ve used the method to bond diecast pieces back together.

Hi Dave, did you mean to send this to Corgi Bob? I don't think I had a link to the paint, but I used Tamiya grey primer, a Tamiya semi-gloss black base, TS21 Tamiya Gold. Hope this helps either way Dave!

Machine guns look wrong for Corgi 261
They’re completely wrong 😀 The tips on the original part had worn down so much they would slip inside the casting when retracted, and not pop out as they should, so I compromised and lengthened them with brass tubing.
