    Now THAT is a Tyrannosaurus!
    Not gonna lie, I was not a fan of wilson. It wasn't the big scales or the lack of lips, it was the pose and proportions.
    This one looks more powerful, like a true apex predator.

    It’s a fantastic looking rex. But PNSO is out of their minds with the pricing. We got Lingwulong which is easily twice the plastic but $10 less. On top of that we have Haolonggood cranking out amazing figures. Their Apatosaurus is a behemoth for a few bucks more than PNSO with way better paint apps. My butt puckers a little every time there’s a museum line release. Just don’t need all the extra fluff that comes with them. However I am happy for those that wanted an updated Wilson. You got your wish.

      My sentiments exactly I saw that plus tax and shipping its 96$ I've noticed all the pnso T-rex figures have an upcharged is there some unconfirmed tyrannosaurus tax. I want this figure, probably I will get it eventually when it's on Prime in the next couple of weeks.

    Zhao explains why they're being conservative on the issue of T-rex lips:1,Unlike the monitor lizard,the lower jaw of T-rex could be fully embedded in the upper jaw。If the lips existed,it would be a huge gap between jaws。In addition,2,Although T-rex does not have as many nutrient foramina as crocodiles, it is still far more than monitor lizards。Therefore,it could not be hard to keep teeth wet for T-rex。3,Exposed teeth are not uncommon among land predators,for example,Sabertooth and Kaprosuchus。

      What about going for the middle ground? I've talked about the subject with a recently retired paleontologist. His view was that the lips were almost sure to be there, but its size is the question that only mummified theropods can answer.

      @@user-gr7xn6hn5ethere’s a chance sabertooth could of had lips too, similar too a clouded leopard. And karposuchus wasn’t fully land based, it was able to come on land, and run much faster too, but it wouldn’t of stayed like that forever.

    i love this figure...even as wilson owner this will be a good adition, it seems its based on Sue and wilson is based on AMNH5027, other than the skin texture quality, the science and reconstructing methods behind them is the same so its cool to display the individual variation tyrannosaurus is believed to have had and like you said wilson kinda looks like an older individual...so it's definitely feeling like getting a new thing and not just an updated version of the previous thing

  • @Aheadmoth8

    I ordered this figure as soon as I could and I even thought to myself "I might even beat the UA-cam videos!" This video beat the delivery by about 2 hours. Great Video and I am absolutely blown away by this figure. I always thought that if they released essentially Wilson again just with better skin detail it would be almost perfect and Cameron goes beyond even those expectations. I am definitely in the lips camp, but I also think that PNSO is allowed to do as they please with their figures, not to mention how much of a bummer it would be if this was the first figure with lips because it really wouldn't fit with their other figures and I like to display them together.
    On a side note, when I opened the box, the figure itself was, I don't really know how to describe it, like clammy, like it's covered in grit that I can't see. I've never experienced this with PNSO before. I'm just curious whether or not you experienced something similar.

      @renna4216 Рік тому

      I couldn't agree more. The original, exclusive* Wilson paint scheme feels more expensive and more worth the price for the model that you get. Cameron is a nice model but it's one of those 'cut and paste' PNSO models as this figure is so so similar to the Tarbosaurus figure. Sure, they're close relatives but that doesn't mean the models should be nearly identical. I feel the same exact way about the new Lucas model. The old one has a really nice base included and feels higher quality overall. The new one just looks cheaper and more 'toy'-looking. Also, PNSO JUST released their Miraxes and Mapusaurus models directly before the new Lucas so to me that updated model in particular, was a waste of a release.
      The prices are a little too high generally speaking for these newer museum releases. The overall quality and execution used to be worth 60-70$. Now they just give you a bunch of pretty posters instead of giving you a nicer figure.

That’s awesome!
    Edit: I just got this figure yesterday, and I think there’s supposed to be a different picture in there instead of two of the Proceratosaurus ones. It’s a really good figure though, and the extra stuff is definitely worth it in my opinion

    This figure looks pretty good. The only thing that really bothers me about the PNSO carnivores is their lack of lips. Although we may not have fossilised Dino lips, it’s far too inconvenient for the animal to not have them. This is defo a good figure and I’ll probably end up getting it (at this point lips on their figures would look inconsistent). The proportions seem better when compared to Wilson, Wilson’s head looks far too small to me.

    FYI, the dentary on this has too many teeth. Adult T. rex had between 12 and 14 dentary teeth (typically fewer with age) - that is to say, 12 to 14 teeth on either side of the lower jaw, or more accurately, there are 12 to 14 "sockets" for teeth though at any one time the number may be less than this if the animal has shed teeth while feeding - this has 16 at a glance (hard to see from the images but it looks like it), which would be pretty odd. There would also be a bit of a gap between the frontmost dentary (lower jaw) teeth on either side - in the skull, the bones are not one solid continuous piece but somewhat split. That aside and putting aside the lip thing (in case it wasn't apparent, I'm a paleontologist in real life) it's not bad, though I'd say room for improvement. Now, worth mentioning that "Nanotyrannus" - which is generally widely accepted to be just a juvenile T. rex - had up to 17 dentary teeth, so during ontogenetic development the number of teeth would likely decrease and if this represents a YOUNG Tyrannosaur - which the build suggests it does not - it has all the hallmarks of a bulky, robust adult - THEN maybe 16 would be viable - but the PNSO site states that "Cameron" is based on Sue at the Chicago Field Museum - and Sue represents a very large Tyrannosaur near the end of its lifespan, nearly 30 years of age, so is certainly fully adult. If memory serves, Sue (FMNH PR2081) has 12 dentary alveoli. So. Yeah. ALSO there seems to be a tooth jutting out right in the middle where the two dentaries meet - there is no socket there for a tooth.

    • @Bota7120
      @Bota7120 Рік тому

      They likely just called it Nanotyrannus to give the illusion of a new species, even though everyone knows its a young tyrannosaurus. It even had the exact same color palette. Hardly a coincidence if you ask me
