Its difficult for us guys that really want to learn and find a practice buddy because most girls think we are just trying to hit on them. I wish there was a way where we could search for people who want to practice online and meet up at a gym or a park and practice.

This may be the most valuable, yet underrated video so far! These tips worked perfectly! Force yourself to take this advice!
Started 2 weeks ago, took 2 classes (practiced solo in my kitchen), then 1 social (intimidating I will admit) - danced with 5 followers and gave my beginner's disclaimer lol.
Results: never turned down, we laughed when it was clunky, and always had fun. You quickly realize everyone wants to have fun and they want you to have fun too. I can't wait for this week's classes and social.
Thank you for such a helpful video!

Whenever I go to a social I used to tell the person that was asking me to dance that I really didn’t Know how to dance. Instead now I tell them that I am learning! They usually respond with a more positive reaction :)

Amazing video!!!! Thank you guys 🙏😃💛 I am an advanced dancer and I felt like I was stagnating recently. I realize it’s because I stopped practicing with partners outside of class. 1/3 classes, 1/3 practice, 1/3 social, that’s a good ratio! ☺️

Just starting my dancing journey. (a couple of months in) You guys are awesome!!! As a leader, I struggle with the pressure of not know enough moves… but your right… just throw it out there… I’m learning, I’m new, is that cool 😎 thanks

Thank you so much for this. I am truly terrified to go social dancing even though I have been taking classes for 2 months. These tips are awesome and have given me the courage to go social dancing tonight and at least try to dance once!

The best thing I did when I first started (2-3 months ago) is HUNT for people in the same class and try to practice the classes move as much as possible with them😆 Or just say that IM A BEGINNER PLS SPARE me to the people that Im going to dance with. Most people would not mind (well- some might still do when I led like idk what im doing - but i learned that I just need to deal with the 'negative interaction' whenever it comes)

All excellent advice and spot on. This is how I learned to dance salsa in Miami. There were several clubs there where we were learning and practicing the steps and turns in groups. After the class you could stick around and dance with other students. This was a really grat way to learn.
Going out to the clubs and freestyle dancing with a partner you never danced with before was just like you said - very scary and your mind just tends to freeze up trying to think of all the moves and turns in the beginning. I think it's harder for the men than the women. Men tend to be much more patient with a beginner woman than vice versa. I moved to the DR and basic bachata was fairly easy to pick up on my own after having learned salsa since the basic steps are somewhat similar and no complicated turns.

Thank you! Sounds like you really dived in to your salsa and bachata dancing. That is great!
We see how it can be a little more difficult for a new leader :)

What makes social dancing enjoyable for me is having a connection with my partner and the music. I almost always have a better time dancing with someone who is smiling regardless of how good of a dancer they are

Noted!!! Social dancing and take advantage of the offer to stay after class. Not gonna lie, I had so much fun at my first class BUT I BOLTED OUT when they offered me to stay for the dance ahahah. I am glad you both mentioned this. I like to be aware of what to NOT RUN from. Thats one of the biggest reasons I even started this. To get out of my comfort zone.

Great video thank you. I got one am always so scared to social dance. I wish the advanced leads would respect when I follow says “I’m a beginner” it makes us feel stupid when you keep trying to get us to magically do as advanced turns and spins 😅. 8/10 the lead makes me look bad!

I never understand people who leave immediately after the class is done and don't do any social dancing

im one of those who leave right after class. i can only handle so much dance at once with my ankles. plus i have a very busy schedule and with the classes being at night, i have to get up early for work. so whatever they have for their reasons, im sure they are good ones for them.

I think those 3 points develop naturally, I have been on clases and practicing on socials, but definitly i need a partner to practice after class specally to domain the leading of the girl haha

One night I agreed to go dancing, knowing not a single step of bachata. My date tried to teach me on the dance floor. I was so bad a waitress stepped in to rescue me. I felt like my date deserved a real dance so I came to this channel to learn how to give that to her.
Judging by these tips it seems like I have the wrong goal to be doing this.

I don’t like the idea of the beginner disclaimer. I’d rather bear their disappointment. If the follower doesn’t want to risk it then don’t dance with someone you don’t know. Beginners don’t owe you anything.
