I’ve been dancing bachata for 6 months now (no prior experience) and I will say that going to dance studios and going to socials at least once a week helps expedite your skills on the dance floor. I’m at a point where I impress beginners & folks who have been dancing for months, but I still get intimidated by folks who have been dancing for years. Honestly if you’re consistent, you’ll inevitably get good.

I am learning bachata for almost ten months already from the ground zero with no experience in dancing at all, and I still consider myself as a beginner. I didn't went to social dances for a long time just for the reason that I didn't know what to do there. Now I think with some understanding of basics and real life practice the progress will be better.

I've been trained for 6 months 5 hours per week and I just learned to find count 1 in music. It feels like I started not from zero but from below zero and only now I'm applicable for the noobie group.

The key to learn faster is practice. Team up with some partners in your dancing class and practice. And don't wait until you gave learned "enough". It's actually easier to practice lead and follow with fewer moves. After the next class you have a pair of new moves to throw in. And eventually you will be confident enough to dance with someone outside your class.
For my social dance (in salsa) I only knew some variations on the basic step and a single turn. But that was ok as the follows were on the same level. (The salsa teacher arranged a social dance after just a few lessons.)
So be the guy who takes the initiative to ask the others. Their schedules are probably full this week, but after the next class some can join you. And your dance school/studio/teacher can probably tell you some places where you can practice.

A few glasses of wine before class will do the trick for some people, to be less shy/unconfident :D

    Hi guys,
I share your page with friends. I really appreciate you two, I like the bachata workout video! Could you do another one with some different moves?
That video helps me get ready for class and practice.

I've been married for 16 years to a gorgeous girl, but one day she left me for another guy who happens to dance a little bachata. My wife liked to dance but i wasn,t into it,l. i felt so depressed when my wife left … i almost killed my self by starving to death. I Went through expensive therapies and doing mental meetings… for 4 months straight. Then one day i decided to do something with my life (for myself and my kids), i went to a latin dance school and started to learn bachata, salsa, merenge, cumbia, kizomba , isolation, sensual, techniques all at once every weeks every single day. I had no experience and never really liked latin music. But i had to try… so I've been practicing 7 days a week for 3 months straight.. sometime 6 hours classes a day ..after 3 months like a full time job i started doing small social after classes with random girls.. one of the problem is that you are dancing with random people and some of them are way more advanced than you are.. this can become intimidating at first,, but once you overcome your anxiety you start to move up and begin to shine. Another problem i have encountered is that you are not alone.. its a competition world… many men are dancing school to meet women. Dancing schools are basically a live Tinder place.. i see all the men trying to get followers phone number.. tHey all try to be friendly and prettend they want to practice but behind their mind they just want to bring a girl home. Lukily i have been married 16 years so i am not affraid to talk to women.. my ex doesn't know i am dancing.. its been 4 months already , almost $600 spent in classes…. Aand i haven't found my next love yet.. after 3 months practicing every day i still consider my self a beginer .. as a leader, my challenge to is to memorize , improvise and learn the music… hoppefully one day i will be intermediate adVanced.. but my goal is to find my next wife still..

Going to school 2 times a week, takes you nowhere. As a Lead, social dancing is not improving you so much (for Ladies is different, if they know basics they can follow). Would say 5hrs a week, dancing with partner (hard to find outside class) will take you very slow pace
