Good information for those that haven't been taught and just assume from watching others or video clips. One other thing to emphasis to leaders regarding sensual moves is that just because you see a follower being ok with sensual moves with one person - doesn't mean they will automatically be the same with you/everyone else. Build a trust first.
Such good information, wish I knew this when I first started taking beginner lessons 4 years ago. My biggest mistakes were trying to dance too close in class and doing moves I saw others do that I was not yet trained or knew how to do properly, so when it came to dancing with partners none of the women in class wanted to dance with me until I got better. The instructor was so patient with me.
Whis I can show more people this video. We have a guy nick name is the "Viking". When I first see him OMG, this guys is so so good. After a few weeks it turned out majority of the girls don't like dance with him, because what was cover in this video. He is brutal. The most important part of dancing is having fun! When I start dancing honestly can't stop smiling and enjoy my improver basic intermediate moves, very rarely few sensual. It's not flashy but It's fun, fun fun. Thank you for this video
It is very important to be gentle with our partners so that everyone can enjoy the dance. Sometimes as followers they enjoy the basic intermediate moves more than flashy moves back to back. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
This part is like martial arts. "Brick not hit back". Those crazy punches and kicks are amazing. But if you can't land them, what good are they. Same with dancing, basics make the dance. The advanced turn patterns don't work with a lot of people.
Thank you for this. I’m new to bachata and I’m so nervous to go to socials because of this. I personally don’t love a ton of those exaggerated sensual moves.
Love this video. Thanks for the advice across. One small suggestion - don't 'generically' call the advanced moves as 'crazy' moves, unless you mean 'crazy' literally. Most beginner/improver dancers may take the word 'crazy' too literally... and we followers unfortunately face the brunt of it on the floor, especially from 'UA-cam' leaders.
Honestly “neck roll” is not a good name for that move. It is largely driven by the chest and shoulders and the neck is barely involved. I prefer “head roll” - it reflects the true mechanics of that move more accurately.
Hi there, thanks for your input however, we did not name this move, so we can start a petition so get the name changed. truly the movement does not come from the shoulders or the chest, it comes from the core muscles (the obliques) that pull the body laterally and the abdominals which pull the body forward. so this is actually a "core" movement, as the skeleton and bones don't move, only the muscles can apply tension on them to move. so maybe we should rename it to core roll lol. just playing. I think the best idea is to not get too hung up in proper names, but it proper technique. Names don't mean much like you mentioned, mechanics of the body are the most important part.
The most beautiful SOCIAL dances are often the simple ones.
Agree 💯

basics are key!
Nice video. Very enlighting for me, a new starter. What is the average time to start a new dancer at meetings? I am a man.
Depends on how much you are willing to practice really :)
very good instruction

Glad you liked it. Probably will still stay "crazy moves" because we're just being ourselves. This is how we talk as real people.
Was the pretty lady you? 😂 👍🏻
you can definitely use them while she is turning :)
