  • A lot of people bring up misogyny when the topic of men's relationship with pron and only fans is brought up (which is true), but i believe there are more factors at play that could lead to men realizing that its not the women who are completely at fault. I recommend reading the book i mention in the vid thats by the radical feminist Andrea Dworkin on womens issues and exploitation in the industry.

Also this was a quick summary of my thoughts on this topic seeing the unfortunate reactions to these women in the industry suffering from mental health and violence. I go more in depth in my vid “The Left Hasnt Failed Men” in a discussion and segment about why modern men see feminism as something negative while agreeing with their points

I think OF has definitely created a rise in toxic culture around porn from both sides, its made porn much more at the front of the social space (eg: Twitte, Instagram and tictok nd shit) but due to that its made lots of men online be wayyyyy more hostile towards sex workers, all these people that hate pornstars are the same people that watch this porn themselves making them hugely hypocritical. I personally hate the porn industry and I don't like how onlyfans has become such a common and accepted thing but that doesn't give you the excuse to try and dehumanise these people

I think you’re absolutely right, the porn industry is a dangerous manipulative system that affect both men and women I do think that part of the reason why a lot of us struggle with anger towards porn scars, and other women in the sex industry is a mix of what you said where they have guilt of watching it, but I also think that part of the reason why so many guys have so many angry emotions towards women that deal in this industry are the bad examples of toxic women, wealth, that they get from the industry while also degrading their viewers, degrading men in general and putting them down as valuable while at the same time degrading themselves. Like you said this system is very nuance, I personally struggle with addiction that I’m trying to get over, I want to view women as not just objects, but that frustration people happily going into an industry that has been proven destroy lives, can sometimes allow the larger corporate, which is the industry itself brainwashes these young girls into thinking that hides behind their workers toxicity. A lot of men cannot see the problems of sex workers as tragic because in our minds, the majority of it is done with consent and is very profitable for the young ladies at least on the outside surface. Nobody in the porn industry is going to talk about how the majority of women that do porn are barely millionaires and living lives, that some of them come from trouble backgrounds, and had nowhere the way making a living or at least they believe so, all you see are the toxic examples who seem to enjoy manipulating men making lots of money and basically making their viewers seem like the only type of men that can’t have sex. I think a problem is that feminism at least certain parts of it are supporting the sex worker industry, and instead of listening to the actual frustrations of these guys they laugh at their inability to find a real relationship, which just makes the guys double down. I really think that the feminist movement needs to separate itself from sex workers and promiscuity and at the same time stop making fun of guys for not having a partner or not having the skills to charm women. Because it seems hypocritical because at the same time they’re asking the same guys to not sexualized women or to treat women as objects, but for some reason, attracting women and winning them as a prize is still something that is hung over almost every guys head. Terms like small dick energy, that’s why girls don’t like you, blah blah blah. All of those statements basically are saying that if you are not attractive to the opposite sex or if you’re not able to win over your value as a man is, that if you’re personality is not attractive to women then you are failure in life. Which is very similar to something we used to women at least toxic people would tell them, that if she wasn’t pretty, she wasn’t going to get a husband, that if she didn’t work hard and be obedient, she wouldn’t, be able to find a man. Until we’re able to stop this vicious cycle of throwing insults at each other and determining our value by our conquest of each other how we’re able to manipulate and destroy each other things won’t change.

As a former prawn star (I wouldn't bother looking because I used a pseudonym and it's likely buried under an unending sea of prawn now, but kudos to you if you do manage to find anything), I'm inclined to disagree with Dworkin on this subject. Regardless, I appreciate you sharing her perspective with what I'm assuming is a predominantly male audience.
The reason the industry is so bad, imo, is capitalism. I mean, I don't see the issue with people filming themselves in the act, or selling oneself, or what have you, if they're not being exploited (which they almost always are under capitalism). I've had lively debates about SW with other women within and without socialist circles, so take my opinion with a grain of salt too.

    • @OzymandiasV2
      @OzymandiasV2  7 місяців тому +23

nah i value your opinion esp having experience in the industry and i wouldnt look. I think Dworkin had a traumatic life that led to her being so radical and seeing men as beasts of nature that seek out the suffering of women over socialization and misogyny. I still think she has some good analysis at times. i also agree that the system is capitalism but also i think we could both agree economic incentive is a huge factor in women doing it. A lot of women love having sex and hooking up and even making films with their partners to spice things up but a lot prob would never publicly sell it for millions to see or ask for payment to do so if they werent struggling. Wishing you the best and a good recovery if the experience was traumatic 🙏

While this video captures a decent portion of pornstar haters, I think you’re missing a factor.
Pornstars are widely treated as though they have no agency as though preying on lonely men is something any intelligent woman would do given her attractiveness.
The reason why so many people enjoy watching videos that dunk on these women and even celebrate their deaths (as psychotic as that is) is because the agency is finally restored.
The “You reap what you sow” is put front and centre. Many people believe that porn is a general pollutant in society and although there are victims who are exploited (I truly sympathise with their troubles) that cannot be the limit to the conversation
A lot of men feel like accountability on the end of the women who in many cases, actively consent to something that is harmful, is missing and so seeing it restored is therapeutic.

Preying on lonely men? No one is forcing these men to do anything, they seek out these workers on their own. Even if a woman chooses that life, how is providing attention, entertainment, and stimulation to men that are actively seeking that preying on them? Every industry uses insecurity, fear, or loneliness to get people to buy into it, that's not preying on anyone, that's just capitalism. Men are taught to be obsessed with sex and seek it out as much as possible while also being taught that sex is inherently harmful and bad, which is what leads to them being able to be "taken advantage of" by many industries, not just women in this field. If men had a healthier relationship with their own sexuality and saw it as something to simply enjoy instead of seeing it as something that proves their status and masculinity, they wouldn't be so beholden to these women. It would just be simple entertainment that they could easily walk away from, not something their dependent on and using to replace their self esteem.

I think something that would help is challenging the way men are taught to view sex. Most men are taught that sex is something that "proves" their masculinity and worth, while also are being taught that sex is inherently shameful or dangerous. And that creates a cognitive dissonance where men are being encouraged and expected to seek out a lot of sex while also being told that their sexual desire is predatory or potentially violent. I think men need their own version of "sex positivity" so that they can see sex and sexuality as normal and just a part of life, and not some uncontrollable force they're always beholden to or something that determines their worth as a man. That way men could interact with sex in less extreme ways instead of complete addiction, complete suppression, or violently swinging between the two.

i think you make some good points, but the way you describe sex workers is that they're innocent & exploited... I think that was true in the past but now currently it's not so much as if they're being whored out on the street by some pimp but they need money and dont have any other way to do it so they just do onlyfans because they see other girls doing it. they're degrading themselves, but not in the same way that a plumber is degrading himself when he chooses to work a job that other people wouldn't, because society would view him as useful and hard-working; someone who does what needs to be done that no one else wants to do. with girls that do onlyfans, they're degrading themselves and people view them similarly to how they view drug dealer.. which is why i think there is so many clips of them going on these alpha male podcasts and getting "degraded".. they're doing on these podcasts what they do as a living; degrading themselves for money as a source of income

i dont believe that all are completely ignorant or innocent but there does need to be a bit of a distinction between OF model targeting streamers’ young fan bases and a woman on the corner. all are sex workers but the bulk of prostitutes are exploited and mistreated/abused. Unfortunately all exploited workers have to play to their strengths and “choose” how far theyre willing to go. I believe as a whole our solution should be to not glamorize these systems and to attack those with the power and capital to fund and perpetuate it. I believe we agree on most points. In a deeper dive of sex work i would mention these points but this was moreso a “filler” vid based on topics ive discussed before and because of the recent streak of mental illness of sex workers and how theyre treated. The Dworkin quote is ignorant of how all entertainment is consumed - "Men characterize prawn as something mental because their minds, their thoughts, their dreams, their fantasies are more real to them than women's bodies or lives.." This is true for actors, musicians, professional athletes, etc. She's right, but it's an impotent point. My mind, thoughts, and dreams are more real to me than a person on a screen who I will likely never interact with ever in my life. The reason OF is perceived as a being particularly problematic or degenerate is because it preys on loneliness in a pretty unique way. Prawn used to be just a video you'd view, crank it, and turn off. Now OF has incorporated social media and the girlfriend experience where you can directly communicate with creators. This is amplified by the fact that these women aren't celebrity status per se, meaning they aren't viewed the same way a superstar would be, thus giving the illusion that they are just everyday people, and not a fantasy. It also incorporates all the negative attributes of social media, dopamine dumps, engagement, subscriber count, interactions, etc. If you can't distinguish why that is uniquely negative for the people consuming and creating it, than I'm not exactly sure what to tell you.

    • @OzymandiasV2
      @OzymandiasV2  7 місяців тому +2

all media preys on something whether that be sense of accomplishment (sports), escapism (all fiction), etc. Porn in general operates on a fantasy no matter what. You pretend that these two people are doing whatevers in the moment and theyre who they say they are. People didnt watch the infamous Mia Khalifa film bc of Mia Khalifa they watched it bc it was a mainstream porno of a “hijabi”. I wouldnt rank OF as more degenerate or “worse” than porn just because youre able to directly interact. I think its moreso bc OF doesnt have a script and most of the time they advertise and post what they want. Porn as a whole preys on lonely men. I think OF models who do stuff like go on streams where the main audience are young boys (like Sneako, Adin Ross, Jynxzi, etc) are obviously horrible and preying on attention from minors, but as a whole i wouldnt say OF is worse and they should be hated. Main outrage should be at the company and the people in the industry as a whole who’ve created the environment of romanticizing and commodifying porn

@@OzymandiasV2 You're kind of all over the place in this response, but what I'm gathering is your general belief is that OF is not inherently worse than regular porn. That is top to bottom untrue. The integration of social media, personalization, interactivity, and subscription services has never existed in this space before and the cultural push to de-stigmatize "sex" work is contributing to the problem. Subscribers can interact directly with creators, request specific content, and build an unhealthy parasocial relationship with them. This increased interactivity leads to a sense of engagement and attachment, making users more likely to return for more, and is the main issue with the addictive nature of OF. This issue has never existed in previous forms, particularly with online pornography. Videos simply existed in a repository online and lacked any personalization and interaction components, additionally there was no culture push to have it legitimized as a career path. The outrage shouldn't be at the company or the industry, it should be on the people consuming it to make the change in their lives in order no longer consume it. I'm not mad at McDonald's because fat people can't stop eating.

I agree with destigmatizing but the parasocial relationship can happen regardless. Many pornstars have been stalked and constantly messaged online before OF. Do i acknowledge that porn addicts get a positive feedback loop from messaging an OF girl and that’s exploitative? Yes. Porn as a whole is supposed to be enticing and appeal to men. However to say its more degenerate or worse than normal porn isnt that relevant or strong. Not all OF models do messages for obv crazy dude reasons and also it doesnt change the fact that at the end of the day all SWers do it for profit. That money goes to someone else besides the pornstar no matter the industry and theyre hosted on platforms that know exactly what theyre doing. Eliminate the causes and the symptoms/after effects will die down

@@OzymandiasV2"Many pornstars have been stalked and constantly messaged online before OF" - Stop it. Not even close to the way in which it happens today, this is a gross mischaracterization bordering on willful deceit.
"Do i acknowledge that porn addicts get a positive feedback loop from messaging an OF girl and that’s exploitative? Yes" - Good because that is one of the main problems that differentiates, and elevates, OF to being categorically worse.
"it doesnt change the fact that at the end of the day all SWers do it for profit." - Correct, and at the end of the day OF, and the incorporation of social media addictivity, has made it infinitely more lucrative to go that route than traditional online pornography, full stop.
"That money goes to someone else besides the pornstar no matter the industry" - A much, much, much, much larger portion of it goes to the creator on OF vs traditional pornography, and it isn't even remotely close. Hence the reason you see traditional porn actors moving to OF.
"and theyre hosted on platforms that know exactly what theyre doing. " - The platforms provide only the platform, they don't provide the content. I don't come to UA-cam to stare at their Red Play Button Logo, I come here for the content. The same way I don't go to an amusement park because I really like the hunk of land it's on, I go there for the amusement rides. The responsibility is on the consumer to stop consuming the product, this is the only way it has ever worked in history. Junk food is addictive, but it's on you to stop eating it.

Great video 👍 men have conditioned themselves to hate women who are a tiny minority to begin with. Lots of good documentaries on the porn industry.
That being said I personally feel that young people would benefit from a more balanced serving of sex positivity and family positivity.
Don't know how it is in the States but where I'm from many media stories, columns etc. discuss the banality of family life, while championing alternative lifestyles. We need the former, don't mind the latter. Lord knows this automation and AI business won't benefit the everyman.

not as incongruent as you think. do you believe most drug dealers deal drugs because its fun or because they were socialized into doing it/make more money than an average job. of course im not saying the women who perpetuate and participate are completely innocent but a lot of factors go into joining the industry and staying in it and theres a lot if predatory behavior from the people up top

@@OzymandiasV2 no i dont think most drug dealers sell drugs for fun, i do believe that an insane amount of drug dealers do so purely for the sake of joining gangs (finding community in where ever they can) and quick money and street cred. which is evident when looking into devolped countries like scandinavian countries where they practically hand out jobs which means its not out of necessity. As far as pornstars go, the porn industry is also racist and push race fetishes meaning they hire a shit ton of blue eyed white blonde girls which is one of the most priviliged groups in america who also dont need to do porn as a necessity (in most cases), and when it comes to joining and staying in, i wont discredit any pornstars that have been misshandled or manipulated into staying, i know there has been cases of that happening and probably even more that we havent heard of so prayers to them. But for the most part of what i have seen the girls sign up willingly and are often times the ones to seek these jobs. there is also the factor of onlyfans where there are no higher ups to manipulate them they are their own boss and these women still flock to it for a quick cash grab.

This video completely seems to gloss over that fact, there's only so much an individual can do and in this day and age helping yourself is the first thing you have to do. The porn industry is engrained into the internet the only thing men can do is to preach for others to stop watching it.

youre misunderstanding my point. i dont think nofap and being anti SW is good. However, if the extent of your outrage is just treating SWers that you used to (or still) watch as trash and as the punchline for jokes, youre just as bad as coomers. The porn industry relies on demand and marketing. They dont have to run a single ad yet 90% of men recognize the PH intro sound. If we are to truly minimize the harm to our brothers and sisters we need to attack and boycott the root of it and not just focus on shitting on people who were taken advantage of or socialized (esp women). If only fresh and fit and other RPers put as much energy into having their fanbase attack the people at the top some change could be made

@@OzymandiasV2 I agree with you that the fresh and fit are lame as hell and unnecessarily spread hate. But let's not act like these OF girls aren't part of the problem and don't play a role in young men's addiction because they aren't under the thumb of a porn brand, and there will be repercussions for their actions. Whether it's social or physical. And about your point about porn users not seeing them as people for example; drug addicts don't feel sorry when their dealers die, or see them as people and I wouldn't expect different from a porn addict, because these women are displaying themselves as objects. These women did make their choices at the end of the day they wanted quick money and they're a price to pay for that.

@@kirinnaicker8871 Most women (like myself) don't get into it by choice. Some are groomed into it by men, others have limited employment opportunities and are just trying to take care of themselves/their families, many are straight up trafficked, etc.
The few that do join the industry of their own free will and end up making bank off it typically face a hell of a lot of backlash for it. And even if they leave the industry the stigma follows them around, making it hard for them to find work in other fields. Basically, it's a lot more complicated than you're making it out to be.
Edit: I should mention that I have since left the industry. My pimp/ex took all the money so I had to start back at square one. Got a degree and job now though, so that's pretty neat.

This is the fantasy that women in porn tell themselves and others, and no one should buy into this.
It's not socially acceptable for women to choose a career in pornography or to express themselves sexually in an open way, so to make themselves be able to do what they always wanted to do (be a porn star, i.e: be a sexual object to men), they find a pimp or some other powerful person to "make them" do the porn. This happens either consciously or unconsciously.
In this way, they can hide behind plausible deniability and still consider themselves pure and innocent to others. If you're "forced" into porn, then it's not your fault for doing it.
"The pimp made me do it! I didn't want to do it but I was coerced into it by an evil, powerful MAN! I'm a victim in all of this!"
This is the fantasy that books/movies like 50 Shades of Grey provide to women. The fantasy is that you're an innocent, chaste woman who was forced into these deviant sexual acts by a powerful man. The powerful, evil man "making you do it" is simply the alibi that allows you to be what you've always wanted to be in the first place - a desired sexual object by men - sans the social guilt and shame of openly expressing that that's what you want to be.

In the end of the day it all boils down to responsibility: are you willing to take accountability for the actions you have committed. Sure it’s easier to blame the industry and these women for your addictions, but in the end of the day you were the one who decided to commit the act. You allowed yourself to fall into that addiction. You opened the video and you masturbated.
By no means am I justifying the industry or porn stars, but hating either has no fruit, at least on a personal level. It is an easy out and offers an easy scapegoat for all your problems and that’s it. Rather, focus on yourself, accept what is done is done and move on to a fresh future where you can overcome your addictions. Once you have conquered yourself and your demons, completely freeing yourself from your addiction, then think to bringing change to the world, seeking justice against the porn industry etc.
Till then, at least for 99% of us, forget the industry and focus on yourself, take responsibility for everything and focus on fixing your wrongs and improving yourself. Sure it’s easy to hate them, after all we are wired to do so, but what benefit does it bring? Since when have we even taken the easy path? Stay strong kings, our time will come!
