The Racist Fantasy of the Model Minority Myth
The United States is constantly praised as the "land of opportunity," but the historical reality for many American citizens and immigrants is that they've been held back by generational setbacks and legislation that have hindered their socioeconomic mobility in the past or even now. Has there ever been a minority or immigrant group that has been the "model" for the other ones to follow? Or has it always been a game of division and propaganda? This video mentions sensitive topics such as Stop Asian Hate, violent history and mob riots, POC on POC racism, and other topics.

    Huh. Didn't think deeply enough about it when I watched it, but you're right...I saw an affection/sex starved boy and females taking advantage of it, but for whatever reason, didn't assume the worst of said females like I would have if the genders had been reversed. Didn't think my bias went that deep, but I guess it does. I know what group to blame for that...the same one(s) that would deny or gloss over it.

    But when i use that argument, its only ever to counter people who are mistreating ALL men on the basis that just MANY men act a certain way. The not all men argument isnt bad at all, it just depends how its used. i dont wanna get lumped in with bad people just because i was born a certain way, that's literally like a foundation for bigotry

(who, lets get real, are doomed, since certain american groups will keep sending bilions of usd to Israel, so that bibi and people worse than him are elected, and US will keep supporting Israel, until there is no Palestine) only to enable genocide of Ukrainians and endanger US LGBT people is absolutely fucking retarded.

    Citing Lenins critique of democracy for representing only bourgeoisie is fucking hilarious, since we are talking about the guy who ignored the will of soviets, when his faction didn't win majority. Dude not only didn't represent all Russians, he did not represent even his supposed power base. + bourgeoisie is most of US populous atp.

    i think the biggest problem with people glorifying male SA victims is that most of us men dont actually grasp that sex isnt the best thing to happen to you. i know several male SA victims and they all say the same thing. "in the moment it was great, but afterwards, i couldnt look myself in the eye". Most men in media are shown to be strong, confident, sexy, and always scoring with women. this causes an imbalance in what is seen as SA and what actually is SA. sure men are stronger than women but as i think you mentioned it in this video, women, espicaly women in power, have the aballity to get a man to do what they want by using blackmail, statius, their life, or even a threat aginst their job. Just because men are physicaly stronger than the average women, doesent mean they have more power. Emoational manupliation is used a lot in our real world to make many men think that they wanted what happened, and its only reinforced by other men saying things like, "bro your so lucky, stop complaining" or "just man up bro, if you didnt like it, you could have stoped it". if anyone is intrested in picking my brain more on this matter just ask and ill explain more.

    I'm an AMAB trans NB and I notice that the looks you get really do depend on how you're dressed. It absolutely sucks to get catcalled from behind and get checked out from the front just because I'm wearing a skirt and leggings instead of pants. They can't "always tell," so I get treated like a woman on my femme days and *GODS ABOVE* the difference is wild. I wear pants, skate shoes, and a jacket and I get dapped up. I wear a skirt, leggings, and a jacket and I get catcalled. I also notice a shift in body language of men when I wear skirts. It's like that kind of trying-not-to-look energy. Super weird and creepy and why I haven't worn dresses in years. Hell, I almost got picked up by a pimp once. Purple low-rider and everything. Wild.

    Sex work like all labor under the capitalist mode of production is exploitative. However, exploitation is a spectrum in terms of its wickedness, in this case sex work under the current capitalist mode of production is specially heinous. To remove the coercive and exploitative symptoms of sex work under capitalism, we must remove capitalism as a mode of production.

    There is a lot of political nuance to the Dark Knight Rises. Nolan comments aside, the movie is an adaptation of A Tale of Two Cities, which will inherently have tones critical of leftism. Bane perfectly represents the French Revolution and Reign of Terror portion of French history. Despite the tyranny and violence that Maximilien Robespierre and other French revolutionaries had, they did seize on systemic failures that were true. And the film does a great job addressing those points.

    • @OzymandiasV2
      @OzymandiasV2 4 дні тому

      i think the first 2/3rds is good for those critiques but i think they shouldve just had Bane be the big bad on his own with no talia/ra’s callback. i dont mind well written and realistic critiques on the left but it felt like such cheap payoff and resolution imo. Didnt know about A Tale of Two Cities though! Ill check it out! Thanks for the write up and support🙏

    I haven't watched/read csm yet since I've mostly lost interest in anime/manga, but it sounds to me like the average viewer is unfortunately not mature enough to really comprehend and see the abuse for what it is. Anime has definitely desensitized people when it comes to sexually charged scenes, since most of the time they are framed like fanservice or over the top gags. The fact that csm fills the slot of a big shounen manga doesn't help either, the target audience is teenage boys after all. Which is so concerning, because whether it's intended or not, depicting Denji in these sorts of relationships without being thoroughly critical of them can have the effect of grooming young boys to be more easily groomed, since the women are portrayed as desirable. It's like how Pretty Little Liars totally f*cked up a lot of young girls because it romanticized relationships between teenage girls and their adult teachers. Oh and there's definitely this "waifu culture" around most attractive female anime characters, that makes it a lot harder for the authors and staff behind anime adaptations to portray them as vile people, since at the same time they still want to sell merch of them and have those characters be popular. If Makima or the other girls that sa'd Denji were drawn as unattractive maybe people would've gotten the message more... But then again in real life it's also like this. If someone is seen as attractive, people struggle to picture them as an abuser. I'm sorry that happened to you, that was definitely not okay. No adult should be touching and talking to a teen like that. And even if it was a girl your own age, still wouldn't be okay to feel you up without clear consent.

Btw i'm convinced this whole brainrot was deliberately pushed in the algorithms by some head honchos to foster division between men and women, and further divide the working class and drive men away from the left. Immigration suppresses wages and allows owners of production to maximize profits. For some we apply the concept of supply and demand to EVERYTHING.... except labor. There are 3 causes for wage stagnation in the US over the last 50 years: 1) Increasing labor supply through offshoring 2) Creating a labor pool that dynamically resizes to match demand for labor though immigration policy (there's a reason illegal immigration hasn't been addressed) 3) The Fed defining "natural unemployment" way higher than actual "natural unemployment". They say its 4.5-5.5%, it's potentially as low as 3%. 3b) Using U-3 unemployment as the unemployment number (very restrictive, U-6 reflects reality) 3c) Completely ignore labor force participation We saw an EXPLOSION of low skilled wages during the pandemic because all immigration (legal and illegal) was shut down. So in short: There's no such thing as a good immigrant & all minorities could be model minorities if we stopped allowing capital holders to undercut their earning potential

      The true problem lies with the capitalists and the owners of the means of production. Of course economically just randomly dumping 10 million people in one country upsets supply/demand along with just logistics and urban planning problems, but its not a flat on its face issue. “Opposing all immigration” is just a vague statement too. Ok we close all borders including to skilled migrants. Do you truly think Mcdonalds and Amazon are going to suddenly raise the wages and give their employees full benefits + dental? They always want to cut costs and itll manifest itself in different ways either from exploiting immigrants, societal pressures to take incompatible wages, and cutting corners. Also the Marxist position is that workers no matter the nationality or origin should be embraced and used as fellow leverage in order to increase proletarian power. Theres a reason why most under the table work immigrants work are dangerous and they take the low wages. All of this isnt even getting to the atrocities and imperialism i mention in the video….. but sure. Closing the borders will bring us back to the good old days and material conditions will totally improve /s

      @@OzymandiasV2 "Also the Marxist position is that workers no matter the nationality or origin should be embraced" And how many marxist regimes survived? Yah.... As I said. You aren't working class, I can tell that just from your comment. I can also tell you don't care about the working class. You a upper middle class angry you aren't upper class. Material conditions are secondary to you because ultimately; you've already gotten yours. What I stated was also a great test for who's actually on the left. I care about 1 thing: The working class and their material conditions. Im not interested in the games people like you play for social credit

      @@OzymandiasV2How could big companies use "societal pressures" to force laborers to accept low wages when immigration is by and large the reason why that became so effective a tool in the first place? When you have a large surplus of people imported from all over the globe, the value of a low skill laborer becomes trivial.
