No, if you feel something on right knee it means it wants to crack. I usually straightened my knee and bend and do it over and over again so it can crack. It cracks for the same reason knuckles, neck, wrists, shoulders even elbows crack and back. There is nothing wrong and no it doesn't affect height growth, since that's genetics and lifestyle (diet).

I need help! I've been an athlete for decades, elite runner and triathlete - never once had an injury other than tendonitis despite doing 70+ marathons and dozens of triathlons up to IronMan distance. 8 months ago I signed up with a personal trainer for the first time in my life. I liked it because he had me doing things I hadn't been doing on my own, but one day he had me doing sumo squats. I told him they were making my left knee feel weird... he asked if there was pain and I said no.... so he told me it is fine/normal. Every time since that day, my left knee has a loud click/pop sound when I do a squat motion (even just sitting down on the toilet). I complained to him about the clicking, and was further instructed to push through it as long as there is no pain. But after pushing through a workout, my knee did start hurting and lasted for a few days after - so I have avoided repetitive or weighted squat motions ever since and stopped seeing that trainer. When I ask doctors they insist it is normal and just nitrogen like a knuckle cracking, but I know that's not it. It would not just suddenly start happening if that were the case. There was a fundamental change in how my knee works and I am tired of being told to ignore it. I have absolutely zero issues running and thought it might self correct over time.... but it has been too long. I tried taking 6+ weeks off from running and leg workouts other than stretching with no change in the clicking. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated from the community here.

Brilliant!!! I'd done gua sha in massage school but never thought to do it for my knee popping. It immediately resolved. Lots of sha pulled up on my injured leg and none on the other. Thank you SO much! Going to do ot on my other lower calf where I've been having some issues as well. 💓
All my joints in my lower half pops, cracks and grinds. From my pelvis, knees, ankles and toes. I can't do even low impact cardio after 12 mins until it becomes louder and unbearable. I also have hyper flexibility/mobility and I'm a few years from 30.
Great video, Dr. Rowe! For years I've been having popping in my knees mostly when standing up from a seated position. It never hurts and I was still able to do exercises such as squats and other workouts, but it's great to find a solution! Thank you!
I had the same issue until recently, when I got real pain in my knees after my first yoga class with a new teacher. My right knee pain has subsided however the left still pains when I fold or unfold my left leg. The pain is only there on the inner side of the left knee like some kind of a pull/stretch. Dr Rowe, do you suggest I do these exercises and check? I do warm foot baths and wrap my knee with warm towel alternate days for now. Thank you for the video. 🙏🏼
my left kneecap clicks something fierce when i extend it. It always "locks up", i feel it immediatley and i then have to extend the leg and the poping sound is very loud. This does not happen in my right knee at all, i pop that maybe once a month or something. I did the thing with the butterknife on the knee and its like some sort of black magic. something released and let loose and i felt better so quickly! Thank you so much, ill be sure to teach my mother about this since she also have this problem and she always jokes and say she passed it onto me xD
heard the stair climber is effective as well… when I’m simply walking around the house, last few days, (since a road trip last Wednesday) I notice I’ve some manageable pain, along with popping /cracking sound… but when I’m on the stair climber no sound, no pain!! Thanks for sharing information, will try these. 🥹🙏🏽
Thank you so much for your service. Forever grateful. This is quality! Ive had a popping sound since I can remember and after just the scraping part I noticed almost no popping. Amazing 🔥 I will practice these religiously. You the man!
Saved me from a mental breakdown. My thigh and calf muscles were so stiff. No wonder my knee was popping in every way possible, bending, unbending, holding it straight in the air etc. It hurt so bad when I started to work the muscles, I knew right away that this was my real problem.
So can the crepitus sounds cause knee pain/pinch? Everytime I squat down it grinds and clicks but it also pinches. Im going to try these stretches everyday. Hopefully it helps thanks!!!
Thanks Dr. Mike! I've heard about the butter knife on the soft tissue technique but never tried it. Today's The Day! Later today...after work. I'll let ya know. Good stuff Sir! 👍👍✌️
I teach 2 spin classes a week, and loft/swim/run other days, spend 15 mins stretching most of the time but I recently got this painful click in my left knee..maybe due to cyclers knee? I tried these and the guwasha might have worked, the strengthening movements went fine, just the behind movements were harder, and the rag or dish towel method i learned from the book supple leopard and that has always helped the most if my stretches don't . Thanks for the info! i haven't made it through the whole video but if anything works long term I'll add it to my spin classes stretching routine for everyone

How often to do the strengthening exercise … daily, or needs recovery days?
These can be done as daily mobility exercises. If soreness is building, throw in a recovery day, or until all the soreness subsides. Hope this helps!
@@DrRowe OK thanks, so it doesn't require 48hour muscle recovery as in weight lifting
i keep doing this. i get on the ground and my knee pops my mom says to stop but it feels rlly good

Thank you!
Hope the exercises help, please give us an update soon!

@@DrRowe My knee pain has completely healed now.. thank you so much 🙏🏼
Thanks it sucks when my leg goes click clack click
Wonderful presentation and informative. Sharing with my friends now . Millions thanks dear
Thanks so much for sharing, we appreciate it!
my left kneecap clicks something fierce when i extend it.
this actually saved my life if i still had the aching knee i wouldn’t have been able to cross the street quick enough and would’ve got hit! thanks

I’m 14 and have healthy bones but when I do Superman squats my ankles and knees pop everytime I jump and there’s no pain tho
Saved me from a mental breakdown. My thigh and calf muscles were so stiff. No wonder my knee was popping in every way possible, bending, unbending, holding it straight in the air etc. It hurt so bad when I started to work the muscles, I knew right away that this was my real problem.
Glad you found the video!
There is lengthening and strengthening, again.

@spinecare decompression what can I do for front pain in the knee when lunging and walking down steep hill/stairs?
Did these exercises help?
I teach 2 spin classes a week, and loft/swim/run other days, spend 15 mins stretching most of the time but I recently got this painful click in my left knee..maybe due to cyclers knee? I tried these and the guwasha might have worked, the strengthening movements went fine, just the behind movements were harder, and the rag or dish towel method i learned from the book supple leopard and that has always helped the most if my stretches don't . Thanks for the info! i haven't made it through the whole video but if anything works long term I'll add it to my spin classes stretching routine for everyone
Hope it ends up making a big difference, and please give us an update soon.
To be honest I thought this was bullshit, but here I am with better knees no longer sounds ribs cracking when I sqwat
