- Fjern Arktis 2 review. I've been wearing this backpacking down jacket by Fjern Outdoors for a month now and can safely say it is a great hiking jacket.
I thought you couldn't get much better than the Fjern Aktiv but the Arktis 2 or Arktis II by Fjern is a great investment.
What I love is that Fjern have listened to previous customers and have altered this jacket based on feedback.
There's no longer the fiddly toggles to tighten up the elastic around the hood.
The jacket fits well and really does insulate. It's filled with teflon coated, 750 Fill Power ethically sourced down with a 95/5 down to feather ratio.
The outer fabric is ripstop nylon which is finished with a durable Water repellant so it's not going to soak in light rain or drizzle.

The 95/5 down to feather ratio sold it for me as well as it being less than £100 on sportpursuit
The Arktis 2 is a belter of a jacket. I have owned many other down jackets by big brands, but Fjern really matches, if not exceeds, them. Warm, a great fit and feel tough enough to chuck about. Buy it!

Looking at the video gave me the impression the jacket Fjern Arktis 2 was not so warm as said. I mean, where's the ice and snow? To my surprise, it was in fact at times too warm in a snow and ice environment (Hakkouda Mts., Japan). Like a waking sleeping bag, the smallest amount of activity made me unzip to control the heat. So, I carry it as a back up when I go backcountry skiing and am not moving. Sure beats the hell out of the fleece jacket it replaced in comfort, warmth and lightness.

Hi, great video! I have Rab Cirrus jacket, and I'm trying to work out if the Fjern Arktis 2 is going to be significantly warmer or similar levels? Just wondering if you had had any experience of synthetic vs down like this?
Don’t have any experience with that jacket but the arktis 2 is the warmest coat I’ve warm. Obviously compared to synthetic it depends on the fill.

Sorry don’t know my chest size. I always wear an xl of the shelf.
What's difference between aktiv and arktis? One is slightly water repellent? One has slightly higher fill but other than that ?
They both have a dwr coating, the arktis ii i think is cut more figure hugging and had a higher fill level.
The Aktiv packs down smaller and can pack into its own pocket.
They both have there own good points. It really depends on what you want the coat for. I’d also say the Aktiv is a 3 season coat perfect for hiking as a layer to put on when you stop and the arktis is a good 4 season coat but that also depends on where you are in the world.
Do you have any down jacket from Berghaus? I have Berghaus size L, after checking size guide it shows me that I should take Fjern XL... but I'm not sure, and would like to avoid replace item... Any thoughts?
No I don’t sorry. The size guide on there website is very true.
Hi, I own alot of berghaus and fjern products, i think fjern is just slightly more a smaller size than the berghaus, fjerns products are second to none at a price point in my opinion

Hi there I'm border line Large /XL which would you recommend.
XL as you want enough space for the jacket to loft. If it’s too tight it won’t be as efficient.

Hi, been looking at this jacket for a while. If you don't mind, how tall and what chest size are you? I was going to go Large, but your XL looks fitted (depending on your build!)
Not sure on my chest size sorry. I’ve always worn xl of the shelf.

I really rate it. It’s warm, light and has kept its form. I love the hood on this jacket as you can really pull yourself into the jacket.
What size for 172cm and 72kg? Snug/slim fit better
I would say large but check the sizing guide in there website first.

It is heavier and not as packable but it a lot warmer.
@@Vildmark Fjern say that they are the same weight. Is that a mistake?
