Be mega careful when putting in tumble dryer after washing as mine has a couple of melted patches despite it being set to cool. It's never happened with any of my other down jackets but it is dirt cheap.
@@Vildmark I think the marks were actually from the tumble ball striking the jacket. The other jacket (Rab) in the tumble dryer was fine. I placed a stick on patch over, so it's not the end of the world.
Firstly just want to say brilliant video!!!....and a quick question 😬 would you say it was worth going for the newer version of this jacket, for an extra £10 ? Cheers 👍🏻
I really like the looks of the Fjern jackets, Unfortunately, the lightest one still weighs about 16 oz./465g. I wish I wasn't trying to find a hooded upgrade from the 17 oz. one I bought for $20 four years ago.
@@Vildmark Yeah, it's all about the layering with the hiking community. I think people tend to eschew having that insulated layer be waterproof bc they like having yet ANOTHER layer to take care of that. I get it, though. If you have one piece of clothing doing too much, then you're taking too much off if conditions change. I'm going to be in an Alpine environment in the Rockies for a week or so, summiting a handful of 14ers. Chances are I won't acclimate until just about the time I'm done. :) I'll probably end up bringing my old puffer I took up Mount Whitney a few years ago. But I'm totally going Frogg Toggs for the rain jacket this time around. :)
The activ the jacket can be stuffed into one pocket the arktis II cannot and it it more insulated ad therefore not as packable. My activ stays in the back of the truck so I can just add it to my bag if weather dictates. The arktis II is a much better jacket for warmth but not a packable.

The top is a fjallraven abisko, trousers high ball from Revolution Race (really recommend there gear) and boots are Lundhags Vandra (there’s a review vid on these). Atb
Nigel Havelock I’m 93kg and 183 tall and fits perfect. Glad you going for it. You won’t regret it. If there’s any chance of a vote as I’m nearly 2nd place for the Fjallraven polar. It would be much appreciated. polar.fjallraven.com/contestant/?id=7934
mrPixord Nigel Havelock thanks for contacting. I’m 1.83 and weigh 93kg and the xl is a really good fit for me. There’s room for movement but not to much. What I like about this jacket is that it doesn’t ride up your back when bending down. You won’t be disappointed by this jacket.
Thanks for the review - informative and looks like you also enjoyed making the video
Thanks. I love making videos. My most recent expedition was a Packrafting trip in Sweden. ua-cam.com/play/PLC4XQXYeQTQT7_wQLJI5H7Im5L8uveMrs.html
Great video. Would you recommend this jacket or the updated Mens Arktis II? Cheers
Nice review, thanks 🙏
What height are you and build.
Im 5ft 11 and weigh 14 stone.
42 in chest i just ordered a large.
Large seems fine for your size
LOVE this jacket. Mine arrived this morning and I haven’t taken it off yet 😂
+Fenella Watson my favorite as well.

Really, was it on a low heat? Never had an issue with mine. I always put tennis balls in with it when I dry it.

How did you re proof your jacket ? Mine needs doing.
Haven’t reproofed it. Fjern recommends tumbledrying at low heat

Thanks. I haven’t seen this years new version yet. I’m waiting for it to come. I’ll do some research and let you know.
@@VildmarkNo worries ✌🏻....if im right, it doesn't seem to have a pocket on the front, but is higher in the down department! Cheers 👍🏻
Just had a reply from fjern. The updated version has different hood draws on it. They make it easier to lick the Elastic where you want it.
@@Vildmark Ok brilliant and thanks for taking the time to get the info for me 👍🏻
I'm 5ft 11 and weight 13 stone what size do you think would fit me?
You’re sort of in the middles of an L / XL. I’d er on caution and go for the XL
@@Vildmark thank you

A.J. Hart yeah 465g is the lightest, that’s the Skjold. I’ll be trying and reviewing that one soon. Atb
Thats a waterproof layer by the way.

395g for the jacket in size M. The weight listed on the website was wrong until now.
What about the arktis II? It is only 30gr more down and 20€ but 750fp and hydrophobic treated... Is it still packable as aktiv?
It’s not as packable. If you want a packable it’s the Aktiv.
@@Vildmark it's curious as both weights 465gr and arktis II is 750fp

HI, Martin Grove, I'm not on Facebook but I've got my brother to vote for you as he's on Facebook. Thanks

That’s roughly my size so an xl should suit.

Hi, I'm going to buy the Arktis II, could possibly ask you your weight and height please as it will be a huge help to me as yours is a XL
