Hello Mike and Erin! We hope your calving goes GREAT! We are gearing up for calving as well! We are a calving to finish operation where we calve 600 cows and finish them out to market weight! We are a farm family of 5 girls plus Dad! Our 24 year old is in charge of the cow herd and our 14 year old is the voice behind our channel! You are an inspiration! We appreciate how you share the real…the good and the bad! Blessings to you from Kansas!
@@doubleglfarms9750 thank you so much, I got to go over and look at your videos and farm and lobbed what I saw and you all stand for. So I subscribed and ring that bell to get so the notifications
Well Mike we enjoy your vedios and I was just wondering why ye don't build a slatted shed for your stock that way you get all the slurry from them to put back on the pasture and meadows thus more grass and why do ye not plant hedge's to break up the ranch into fields and provide shelter and help wildlife as well .It's just a thought it's the way we do it in Ireland keep on ranching best of luck going forward 🤠👍
I am glad that you showed us that you have feelings like everyone else. The stress you have, on all fronts, is more than many can handle. Good luck with the calving. Such an exciting time of year. Blessings to you and your family.
Mike I am a reitred RN who spent most of my career in hospital billining, insurance and case managment. BUY that insurance NOW! I have seen many business owners,,, and YOU have assets,,, literally go broke over a cancer diagnosis or an on farm accicent. You never want the ranch you love in play if you or your family is ill,,, Do it now so you are covered on April 1 st ! PLEASE!!! Love your channel... Good luck with calving
I’m so glad you’re finally able to health care. It’s a real crime that in the wealthiest country health care is unaffordable for so many people. Glad your family is getting through the flu okay. I hope your calving season goes smoothly
Wishing Mike and Erin a successful calving season. Sorry to hear, you all had the bug. No fun having that. Glad to hear everyone is on the mend. Have a blessed week.
I joined Our Wyoming life right at the end of your first 30 in 30. I am glad you’ve hung in there all this time. If it were me, I would have lost interest in talking continuously for two years. The first video I saw was the cow with mastitis. But when I heard your voice, I have to admit, I was like, stunned, at your oration abilities. You speak so well, I am so impressed. The sound of your voice, your pitch, cadence, tone, words, speaking skills, etc. It isn’t often we hear people who are so well spoken. I wasn’t at all surprised to learn had a previous career in radio. I wish I had a reason to hire you to speak. I bet you’d do great motivational speeches. Then I got draw to your ranching platform. I was actually surprised at how little I knew about the ranching industry. It motivated me to consider buying a small hobby farm. But where I live, it is a financial impossibility. So, I have decided to take my motivation to grow my passion in creating quilts and embroidery and other crafts. I am eagerly looking forward to helping people the way you do, only in cloth and not in cows. I have never considered where my meat comes from, but now I do. I will never look at food the same way again because of what I have learned from you and your family. It brings me joy to be a Patreon and I am looking forward to supporting your family in other ways. And, as you say, supporting my local farmers. Thank you for all you do. I pray and hope you will have continued success. Thank you for bringing me along on your journey. I wouldn’t blame you at all if you had to give up YouTubing so you can focus on ranching and supporting your family. I would miss your channel, but I’d totally understand. It is hard work maintaining a UA-cam channel, especially all the editing. I have even considered trying out a channel myself. Thank you and Erin and your family for sharing your life. God Bless.
What I really like about you is that you actually care about your animals. Nothing speaks more volumes. God Bless and I wish you much success this calving season!
I am so glad you are keeping your babies and cows. Will you sell them at any point to private farms who won’t eat them. I don’t eat meat and it took a lot for me to give up burgers. I think by doing it I am saving a cow.
I've got the reason for the calves being more friendly (Faith), "MATT" 🤣🤣🤣. It's that bucket of cake he takes with him when he goes out to check on the cattle 🤣.
Hey Mike great video, I remember living on my Uncle's farm in South Dakota during calving time And he woke me up at 2 o'clock in the morning to check a cow and the calf was preached so he called the vet to do a C section and the calf was not breathing and my uncle told me to try mouth to mouth and so I did and we were able to get the calf to start breathing So yes I understand that calving time can be exciting and stressful at the same time.
I think this is one of your best videos….. You showed us the ups and downs when it comes to raising cows for a living, especially when it all depends on good things to happen. Thanks again for sharing another great video ❤️.
Thank you for sharing so much of your life on the ranch. I grew up in dairy country in upstate New York. Your ranch feels familiar and foreign at the same time. I know calving is stressful for animals and humans alike. My prayers go to you and yours. I am now disabled and have extremely limited mobility, so lots of time on my knees for those God puts on my heart.
I just love wearing my purple Wyoming life hoodie when I walk my dog and go any place around here that's cooler not hot oh, I live in California. 30 in 30 is an amazing effort that shows more of what it's really like to be a Rancher farmer. I know you have lots of changes going on but it's going to be okay because both of you are so strong and have such creativity
Hi Mike, I agree that calving can be both enjoyable and miserable, we just have to take it day by day. On Saturday, March 12th my son's cow had a calf in the morning, no problem. Later that afternoon one of his heifers was walking around with the reminisce of a water sack. Long story short, we tried to pull it, no success, called the vet, he, his assistant and my son pulled it, the calf was dead. All in one day, life and death, joy and sorrow, that's the life of a cattle farmer. That's just how it is in this business! Lot's of good information you shared, with some visual illustrations that those that haven't seen can grasp what it is we do. Thanks for sharing, great job, have a great evening, take care and I'll see you next time. Stay safe.
Always a joy to ride along with you Mike. I enjoy hearing and learning about your operation. We Pray you have a fantastic year here On Our Wyoming Life. Iowa cares
My hat is off to you Mike. You've got to be nervous about calling. You're prepared for all the what ifs for sure. I'll be following for sure. Great job, so informative!! Thank you!! Joe
One of my favorite part of the seasons. I know it isn't easy for you guys but so appreciated that you share it with all of us. The bad and the good. I miss calves so much. Praying for gentle weather.
Mike, has Erin ever rolled with you to check the herd? Plus, do you ever wonder what runs through the cows minds when they see you talk, and no one is there? I think that they are thinking you fell out of bed and bumped your head a bit too hard, not that they look at you like you owe them money or cakes, lol! We, as your fans, and I'm a huge fan, know who you're talking to, but the confused look on the cows' faces is priceless hahahaha!!! I do really enjoy watching your page. I'm glad you're fixing to do your 30/30 again!!! I love, love, love the fact that Erin and you grow and distribute your foods and love to your community and don't ask for anything in return! Enjoy your family as much as I enjoy watching your family!!! 🥰🐂🥦🥔🥕🌽!!!
Hi Mike! First of all.... Thank You for another great video! The 30 in 30 will be awesome however, if you feel the need to not film one day, don't worry about it! ALL of us who follow OWL understand that sometimes you gotta do what's best for you, your family and the ranch! I am so glad that you are able to apply for Health Insurance for your family!! My husband and I are on Medicare and through Blue/Cross Blue/Shield of Minnesota, we have very affordable Health Insurance. Everyone in the USA should have affordable Health Insurance! Here's Praying for a healthy and happy calving season! I can't wait to see the new babies! Stay safe, healthy and happy! (Praying for spring 🌧 rains!)
I do remember Faith. I think I suggested Bekah for her name, but that didn't take. I just enjoyed my first pound of bacon last week, yum. Will there be chicken down the road? Looking forward to the calving!
It’s so important to have health insurance these days just a broken bone can break you I just had too have a diskectomy I thank god I had insurance with no prepayment praying for you & family to have a calving season & all family gets healthy have a wonderful day
Once again another extremely educational video while still having loads of entertainment. Mike you definitely know what you’re doing! I don’t know of many other ranchers that have the connection you have with your herd, all of your animals for that fact. I pray everyday that you have a great calving season and hopefully a good haying season. Our Wyoming Life family is the best family on UA-cam. You allow us into your life and have taught us so much about life as a rancher and Erin with her gardens. Thank you! 👍🏻
I loved this video! Very educational, as well as just plain fun to watch the real life on a ranch. I'm praying for the rest of the calving to be problem free. And for a truly successful overall year for your whole operation and family! God Bless you and yours! New adventures, new successes!
Great video. Calving is really so important for people to see. So many have grown up with no idea about birthing of animals or how you get meat or milk. Recently heard of a couple of protesters in a dairy department at grocery store. They think it's not right to kill a cow to get milk. Keep up the great teaching lessons. Still so excited for the 30 & 30. Praying for more moisture.
I wish for you a stellar calving season. I also really appreciate seeing the reality of your world. Keeping it real is so important whether positive or negative. Much respect to you and Erin for sharing parts of your life with us.

We made a big decision to stop breeding and started purchasing calves to satisfy our direct farm to market business. It was sad to see them go but we don't regret it when it comes down to it. We raise heifers and steers, heifers.do well on pasture and are cheaper at auction but just as good at slaughter. Good luck
I grew up on a farm. We had cows, horses, chickens etc. my mom was cool though. She would switch one of chickens from a nearby farm so we didn’t eat our pets. Didn’t find that out till I was 16. Same with cows. She bring one home from the meat place and put the bow and bell back on. We never ate our pets. I am 74 and wish I was still on that farm.
Bull is in with mine right now😃 but this makes me wish I was calving again lol… although sure is nice when it ends and you can get a full night of sleep. can’t wait for 30 in 30
Mike I’ve been watching you guys for a while now and I love what you have going on. I feel for you guys right now with everything is going on and I pray you can continue to bring this great content. God Bless to your family and I hope your calving goes well this year.
We live in Canada we have "Free" Government insurance. To get it we pay a premium every year depending on where you live. It can be Zero it can be 1,500. In reality our health care cost 6,000 per year per person based on what it costs the government so we pay more taxes to cover it. It does not cover drugs, dental, vision and ambulance. If you want that it is available through private insurance plans and if not covered by an employer it can be 4,000 a year. It is all like auto insurance you hope yo never have to use it but when you do you are glade you have it. Nice to see FBN is helping farmers.
Thank God about the health insurance. It’s ridiculous that farmers don’t qualify for state health care. When my son was a child, I don’t know what I would have done without it. I had to pay some every month, but he was fully covered. And, he was healthy. No illnesses. But he is Autistic, so there were a couple times he had some evaluations that Ecu-care paid for. When I got a job that offered full fledged health insurance, I was thrilled, I felt so lucky. I am excited for you to get proper health insurance. Everyone deserves health insurance, in one form or another. Even if people don’t accept it, it should be available to them if they want it.
Hey, Mike, have you thought of utilizing the drone to survey the field before heading out in the gator? Once the cows start laboring it would help you to know where they are hiding. Or have you already thought of it? lol
Vitamin C helps the immune system. If would help the whole family. Hope Grace feels better, sorry to hear you all were sick. Hang in there Grace! Hope to visit the store this summer. From Colorado
Now you are raising all your calves to freezer camp weight could you start calving later in spring to avoid cold and snow storms Put the bulls out 30 to 45 days later
When u take ur calves to the sale barn doesn’t mean they going to the packinghouse or feedlot other rancher can buy them for him or someone else can buy them for start having cows themselves
We are members of FDN and we are so interested in health care here in Montana but we couldn’t find you link we will call our red from Billings Montana , Mike once age thank you , you’re a wealth of info
