And they did it. I couldn't expect less from the Kepler R after the interview I had with S&E employees. They poured in it all the crazy ideas into one, luxury, recreational, combat, kinda truck?... hell, even exploration Frankestein. The worst of all is that I encouraged each and every one of them that his/her idea was the best and they should carry on. I used this overengineered and overpriced madness just for spares. Thank you Walter for your trust!

Got Starship Design level 4. It's now 4 engines. Removed all Stroud Eklund Parts. The thing is nuts. It's probably a cool million dollars now.
This is a good 1 level cheap build for that free ship. The layout I love. As you progress with this moving house it'll become something else if you keep on it.
I agree. But you’d be shocked how upset ppl get if you make a build that requires starship design 4. I figure most will start w base model and if they take the effort to get to design lvl 4 they will prolly have figured out how to upgrade to the top tier components by themselves.
I love the design. I was tryin to build it, but I was having trouble lining up the fuel tanks. It wouldn't let me connect them in the areas that were open.
I was very surprised by the Kepler R, which was touted to be the best free ship in the game. I was also horrified. It looked horrible on the outside, and was worse on the inside. It made me ashamed to have taken part in its design. I very much want to redesign it. Your design has inspired me. Thank you.

Love my kepplar r. Not done designing it but looks like a fighter with over 8k storage.
So I did this exact design. Awsome ship. Upgrade the reactor, shield. I was starship design level 2.
My recommendation for weapons is use PBO-300 C Class Auto Turrets (LVL 27) and ditch the Mauler 106T Auto Cannos for Vanguard HellFire Auto Cannons. Easy to obtain half power usage. Install 2 more with horizontal mounts on the first fuel tank behind cock pit. That gives you 4 cannons, two missle launchers and two auto turrets and will increase crew cap to 8.
It litterally melts things.
Yepp, every time I get into my Kepler R I just have the URGE to re-design it. Too many levels (ladders!), too many small modules which create a maze (LADDERS!), too much unnecessary stuff (LADDERS!!!!!!!!), too much weight. Especially the back looks like a containership in space... 😜
I think I'll gather more money, bomb the Kepler R apart and re-design it as a Class C "explorer gunship" (6 x Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector, 6 x Vanguard Hellfire Autocannon).
Btw: I use 3 x SAL-6830 engines (Strout-Eklund Staryard) because these have the max manouvering thrust by far. With a Mobility of 77 my container whale is surprisingly agile now! 😎🤟
How much is it total to replace stuff? I've just got the Kepler & I'm loving your single floor design
It wasn’t too expensive. Not counting weapons I want to say I spent around 50-60k. If you swap out weapons your mileage will vary, but as you don’t have to replace most of the expensive parts, it’s pretty simple.
My plan was always to see how far I could get in the game using only free ships (I like a challenge). I've had the Kepler R sitting in port for quite a while because my buffed-up Star Eagle has been handling things just fine. I've been looking for a good Kepler R rebuild. There doesn't seem to be too many people doing Kepler R at all so thank you for that.
In my game progression it's getting to be time to move to a bigger ship. I'm level 45, have Pilot and Ship Design at level 4 and over 1.1 million credits. I know that you get better modules the higher your level. Is there a place you can go to see how the progression goes? I would like to be able to plan ahead.
You spend the most time in A ships dabble for a few levels in B ships then spend all the rest of the end game in C class ships when you can pilot them. You cant take a A class to lvl 75 "very hard". Kepler is a good ship I mod most of the looks out and replace some stuff. Weapons (4x Auto turrets PBO-300), reactor (x38), shield (Vanguard). But it's much better than many would have you think. I replace the cock pit with a Bridge from Deimos. and add one more engine to bump up the mobility. At NG+10 and started rebuilding the ship again since I had it in my original universe. Still my favorite ship. Once you go C you don't go back, That's what she said.

I'm on my first play through. I play on Normal difficulty. I'm not interested in going in on Very Hard and then switching to Very Easy. The only free class B is the Kepler S. That means seeing how far I can get with a buffed Star Eagle and then switching to a buffed Kepler R and seeing how far I can get with it. There are some better ships that you can get by taking them over but that is plan B (Vista III?).
@@dondurham5264 No I don't know of any. There's a site used to compare ships and Ranks them but I don't use it maybe someone can post it here. Many Streamers ref it.
kepler s/r suposed to be stroud ship not taiyo. good work on design tho i might use some part but not on kepler tho
Agree the Keplar is a disappointment, however i find this design for me is a lot of very inefectove space buy perhLs for the on board rp. Well if upu can find them. Combat wise at sub 50 the mobility is far too low for anything but weak lumbering ships. Again, as you said built for the look.
It might not be such a disappointment to you if you learned how to spell the name correctly.

well worth keeping for the expensive key components. just have to remodel heavily ;)
@@LeeroyGaming yes! I definitely plan to remodel it. I had my save file get corrupted on my PC so I had to restart. I had a base narwhal I remodeled and it looked like a frog so I named it poison dart.

@Mad_Dog-by2nl messy design. Multi floor, kind of a pain to get around to the different functional rooms. Not end of the world but it’s super inefficient is all. Also missing key rooms.
@@Mad_Dog-by2nlit looks like they threw random stuff together and called it good. Which goes with the quest but visually it looks bad and interior wise it's not great either
