Sub-Adult Eagle Captures Gull Mid-Flight. Adult Takes a Dunk in the Sea.

Video contains images of predation (but not close-up). A 1st year sub-adult eagle captures a gull in mid-air only to drop it. After the adult grabs the gull it gets swamped by a wave then brilliantly uses the surf to assist lift off. The adult retreats to the shore to rest. The sub-adult claims the prey in the end. This activity takes tremendous energy and the eagles have to take short breaks to rest in between hunts. Filmed 01-02-21 at 12:05pm.
