Sarah, I just tried your method and I have to say from the bottom of my heart you made my entire year. This is so easy to do with no streaks, Sarah Taylor you rock✌❤✌❤✌❤✌❤🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
@@SaraTaylor i use this now as my varnish. I dont want a mirror effect. This is what the painting looks like wet. Its a great pouring medium additive too for blooms!
This is the best video I've come across on polycrylic varnish, I wished I've found it before I ruined the top of my painted dresser, I tried the water method on the front of it and it worked beautifully! Thank you so much! 🙏 now I have to do the rest and tried to fix my mess 🤪👏👏👌💃
THANK YOU!! I started out using the minwax and then tried resin but I’ve decided I like using the polycrylic better. Your technique is really going to help minimize the brush strokes. Thanks again. I love your work too. You are a true artist.
I'm about to varnish my first piece (I use that term loosely lol, I'm a total newbie) and of course I started my research here with you! I'm obsessed with your work and process, and thank you so so much for generously sharing your talents and tips with us! 🥰
I have to tell you ive been struggling with liqutex varnish. So decided to try this method. You have made my life so much easier!!! Thank you so much!! Works so good even on large canvases.
Wow you're a genius. I Watered-down the polycrylic can and it was still hard not getting streaks. I will try to use water before applying the coat. Thank you!
This was a great tutorial. I have always mixed my varnish with water and finally gave up and moved to spray varnish which is actually really nice but I think using your method of spraying the water on the canvas just gives that extra time you need to go over the layer a second time. I can now look forward to using my polycrylic again. Thank you!!
Thanks Sara, I’m new to acrylic painting and I have only created smallish paintings so far and just started to varnish. I used a spray varnish which has been successful. As I get better with the various techniques I would like to try bigger canvases and was very nervous about the varnishing. Your video has made it look less daunting. Thank you for sharing
Thank you Sara.. I am going to try this. I use my hand and spread and I hate doing it. I use Liquitex High gloss and NO water so this sure looks much easier but I will wait to see you use Liquitex as well! Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing this. I used this varnish a while back on a small painting that was dry. It dried for more than a week but the varnish caused cracking of the paint. Any advice? I would LOVE to see your technique with Liquitex creating a resin like finish!! Love your art!!! Thanks again.
I just watched How you mix your paints. I asked a question about varnish then low and behold, I scrolled down & found your varnish tutorial. Anxious to try!
Its a great idea Sara, thank you soooo much! I varnish with a brush and Golden Satin Varnish but when is dry, I almost see those faint brush marks😖 so now that I saw your tutorial...I'll try with that coat of water first and then I'll varnish; maybe Polycrilic have different consistency, I dont know but I'll see what happen🤩 so...thankssss again Sarita, you are awesome! 👏👏👏🤩👩🎨🖼❤️✨😘
Sarah this was really helpful. And I just love how you and your videos. OK we’ll talk soon :-) and I love that second piece that you did. Really drew me in
Sara, this is the first time that I have seen this video and I am so grateful that I found it because I have varnished things in the past and didn't care for it because the canvases were never really free of stroke marks from the sponge brush. The water is definitely the answer to a smoother surface. Tell me this though; when you put on the second coat, do you apply it by turning the canvas sideways and applying it in the opposite direction of the first coat??? I don't know if I am making myself clear, but I hope you understand what I am asking Sorry.
You can do it the exact same way if you want a nice shiny finish. If it’s Liquitex gloss, you can do a thicker coat in a very fluid almost resin manner and it will resemble resin. Sarah Mack does a great tutorial on that method.
I know right! I hate resin… Although I bought a proper respirator and have been resining some pieces but really called for it. This is a great technique though!
Thanks for this wonderful video Sara ! I have a technical question as I paint a lot with acrylics on paper, I wonder can I varnish my paintings on paper with Polycrylic ?
I was always told that this will yellow so I've never used it. I love your work and if you use it then I believe you. Do you ever have any issues with yellowing?
Thank you for this tutorial, I’m getting ready to varnish some pieces, so this was fabulous. How long do you have to wait for a second coat if needed, and also, how long do you have to wait for it to cure? Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing Sara. I didn't try water coat, will give it a try. I always heard paint should be perfect dry before varnishing. Do you think water will cause any problem in a long run, maybe a year or so ? I know stupid question, but just wanted to confirm before trying :)
That’s not a stupid question at all! Polyacrylic is a water-based product, so more water will not affect the way it adheres to the canvas. You do need to paint to be dry and cured, I usually wait at least one week, ideally too.
Sarah, I just tried your method and I have to say from the bottom of my heart you made my entire year. This is so easy to do with no streaks, Sarah Taylor you rock✌❤✌❤✌❤✌❤🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Yay! I’m so glad it worked well for you, it really is so simple and works so great! Hooray for a little extra water!😌🤘🙏
Wow Sara I’m learning so much from you! You truly wonderful. I was looking for something instead of resin all the time!♥️

I never would have thought to use water. Thank you for the tip. Looks beautiful!!

Wow thank you! I have only used liquitex because i had horrible cracking with polycrylic. I will try it again!!!! With the water!
Very helpful that picture is amazing!

Excellent tutorial!! I wasn't familiar with your work before watching this...it is excellent!!

Sara, for the 2nd coat of Polycrylic, do I do the water wash again, or just the Polycrylic?
Thank you so much!! I'll have to try this method...subscribed😀

Sarah this was really helpful. And I just love how you and your videos. OK we’ll talk soon :-) and I love that second piece that you did. Really drew me in
Beautiful Painting

Very helpful thank you
Thanks Sarah😊 So pretty! Great tip❤
Blessing...Much thanks for sharing.
Hello, Sara. Thank you for your tips, i love your work. Question: do you have a video of how you made the second painting you varnished?
This was so helpful! Thanks!
Beautiful! Thank you. I learned something today.
I did get brush marks with the foam brush but haven't used your method so will see if it improves.
Excellent instructions.
Very nice job! Thank you

Amazing finish! Thank you for sharing. No torching air bubbles correct? I assume not but want to be sure. Thanks again
You’re so welcome! I don’t find that air bubbles are a problem with this method. With a thicker coat or with resin it could be an issue.🙏✨
Thank you for sharing 🌹❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Sara vey helpful 👏🏻💚🌈
Beautiful Painting!!! Was it done by pour acrylic painting? Why not just use spray varnish, no brush strokes.
Thank you for the tip can't wait to try it..
Omg so helpful!!! Thank you!!
This is very helpful. Thanks!
Beautiful!!!
Hi can i ask why you chose semi gloss as opposed to full gloss . Great video and will try. Thanks 😊
Great tutorial! I am doing some with liquitex tomorrow. Any suggestions?
You can do it the exact same way if you want a nice shiny finish. If it’s Liquitex gloss, you can do a thicker coat in a very fluid almost resin manner and it will resemble resin. Sarah Mack does a great tutorial on that method.
Yes so good to know all these little tricks to minimize brush strokes! I just don’t want to utilize resins... Txz! Jeanne
I know right! I hate resin… Although I bought a proper respirator and have been resining some pieces but really called for it. This is a great technique though!
THANK YOU, MY LOVE!!! ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing! Do you put a finish on all of your work? I just love all of it!!
Sara-Love your work! Why do you prefer semi-gloss over gloss? Thank you.
Thank you very much 👍❤️❤️❤️👍
Really helpful, i have yet to varnish my first pours because I'm terrified to ruin them 👍
You got this!!
Thanks for this wonderful video Sara ! I have a technical question as I paint a lot with acrylics on paper, I wonder can I varnish my paintings on paper with Polycrylic ?

Thanks . Awesome tips. Appreciate it!!!!
Thanks for sharing this
Do you have a video for when you painted that first canvas?
Unfortunately I did not film this painting. It was kind of crazy... 😂
Thank you. So helpful!
Thank you for the ideas and your creativity. You inspire me. When you do the second coat, do you use water again?
I do, on each coat :-)
Thank you for this tutorial, I’m getting ready to varnish some pieces, so this was fabulous. How long do you have to wait for a second coat if needed, and also, how long do you have to wait for it to cure? Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing Sara. I didn't try water coat, will give it a try. I always heard paint should be perfect dry before varnishing. Do you think water will cause any problem in a long run, maybe a year or so ? I know stupid question, but just wanted to confirm before trying :)

Beaultiful, beaultiful
Great tips!!!
I love this. The water makes a lot of sense to me. Do you do the water on the second coat also?
Yes, for all coats 😁
Which is the best looking finish, this by Minwax, or the Liquitex High Gloss Varnish?
