The lack of knowledge here is concerning. The test was valid. No it’s density isn’t one g per ml for those saying that. That’s waters density. The stuff you see spraying back is the gas which happens because it’s a gas as thus will not stay in a high concentration in an unclosed cylinder. The foundation is heavier or not a gas so it wouldn’t be spraying back, if it did you’d be losing useable product each use. If their was leftover product they’d be able to tell as it’d be a liquid at the bottom of the can. Gas can be measured in ml (gas law) but that’s not even the point of this video. There is not missing foundation on her, if that were true it would be all over the table in a speckled pattern. The product falling down is due to how aerosols work and was at most like 3 ml. Don’t criticize them because you lack the knowledge.
I have not bought chips for a long period but i guess producers label bags with grams (measure of weight) and gas does not weigh anything. While in case with dior they label bottle with volume and i assume each consumer thinks it is volume of foundation, not of by-product gas (which has volume)
Hey guys, I have been reading the comments and there are some common things that people bring up that I thought I would address here instead of answering hundreds of the same query: Firstly, there was no foundation flying in the air - it was just the aerosol gas. You can see that the table and our hands are still clean with no foundation from the product coming out of the top. Secondly, we were not trying to measure the gas, just the foundation. Thirdly, we know that Dior technically aren't lying about how much product is in the can as the aerosol gas is listed as an ingredient, but we did this test to how much useable foundation is in the can as we think the 70ml can be misleading to the average consumer. Fourthly, we didn't want to open the can up because that can be dangerous and once again we are testing the useable amount of product and we don't believe you should have to puncture an aerosol can to access your foundation. Finally, we did not weigh this because it is measured in mL, which is volume. I hope that clears a few things up x BN
Rita Oliveira exactly if anything how they were spraying it in the tube would produce more usable product, because I'm sure you don't hold it that close to your face. there would be over spray the farther you held it away.
Katherine Patrick thats because any aerosol can leaks a little around the nozzle when you are spraying it. The gas was escaping from the tube, not the foundation
I'd like to also point out that although the measurements on the packaging is misleading butane is the first ingredient on the list. Now we know exactly how much butane is contained in the product. You'd have to be a very educated consumer to know your mostly paying for gas. This video brings up a very very valid point and educates any consumer on what they're actually getting. I know I will not be paying 62 dollars to put butane on my face 😁 I'm actually really glad you did this. I've been really looking into higher end foundations, and everyone raves about this. I would like to mention I think you are absolutely correct in saying you get about 30ml of "usable" product. There was some product loss as not all of the product went into the container, but not all of the product is going to go on your face. Usability wise, I would say the consumer can get 25-30 ml of product. But from a measuring standpoint because it's an aerosol spray, I bet there are a shit ton of ingredients that evaporate when they become exposed to air, contributing to the loss of product like alcohol. Also, I would use the rest of that foundation very quickly considering the best bubbling reaction in the video. I also wouldn't be surprised if the foundation condensates or you experience more loss of product as it's very exposed to air. This could also contribute to the performance of this product as well the longer it is not in the aerosol container.
Gabi Cox wow really well pointed out and well written. If this comment was an essay and I was the teacher I would give you an A+. Comments like this are what we want.
Even if this isn't the most scientific experiment it still has value! These girls never ever claim the make-up break up to be an exact science. I feel like it's worth it to point out Dior technically isn't scamming anyone because it's the first ingredient. But there is no exact number on how much butane is actually in this product. It just means it's the ingredient the highest percentage, but that could be any number. What this shows is that the Dior foundation is mostly gas/ingredients that evaporate. The consumer can now decide if the price tag of 62 dollars is worth it for a standard sized foundation, which honestly is still around the price of most other 25-30ml high-end foundations like Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. It doesn't prove that Dior is a shitty company. They included butane on the list and gave about as much product as a standard foundation. My theory is that this type of foundation is a bitch to label and now we can decide if the usable amount of product is worth it.
no alcohol in this nor in the sephora dupe. i love the sephora one as it looks great no matter my skin type and the application is great. for me it is definitely worth it as regular liquid foundation no matter how sheer/lightweight tends to go cakey on my face (i have lot of blond hair)
Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Benzyl Salicylate are derived from alcohol. Butylene Glycol is alcohol. Not to mention the "fragrance" ingredient most likely contain alcohol as well. The sephora brand also has different levels and types of butane throughout the ingredient list. It would be interesting to compare the two and see if aerosol foundations need an abscene amount of gas in order to function. Or if the Dior is just a rip.
sn12 just because it doesn't say the specific words alcohol doesn't mean there isn't any in they product, an alcohol is a functional group thus any chemical ending with the suffix -hol will contain similar properties and reactivity FYI
Some people are mentioning all the product/gas that didn't go into the tube and I thought about that too. But when you're using it, you aren't going to be trapping that and wiping it on your face
Meg Alyssa they are measuring how much product there is not how much is actually going on your face and alot of product was lost so this isn't an accurate representation of how much you get
Linette Styles i don't think that was product that was lost, i think it was gas. because it's aerosolised, the gas in the can isn't going to go into the tube. it's light enough to bounce back, but foundation is heavier so it sticks to the sides and slides in
Kristine most aerosol cans like this specifically state not to puncture or damage the can. The can is pressurized and puncturing or forcefully damaging the can would more than likely lead to injury. The way they got the product out was the safest way and is also how you would normally apply this foundation. Even if it only contains 1 fl oz of actual product, that's the norm for foundation. And from what I've seen from people using this foundation, you're not using as much as you would with other foundations.
Everyone saying how so much product went into the air....but it still has to land somewhere afterwards and their table is still white and Hayley's hands aren't the colour of the foundation either....
For anyone saying what about the spray back, if it was product her finger would have been covered in product plus if it was, when you'd be praying on your face you'd still get the spray back therefore you'd lose that product. But in my opinion that wasn't product but air.
Miss Mollie's world On top of that she did it on a white table and we didn't see much of it settle on it either! There is no way 30ml got wasted in that manner.....and it was still bubbling away, wonder if that would have changed anything after it settles
BEAUTY NEWS Gas comes in liquid form, and the gas is what propels the foundation out of the aerosol. I contacted Dior and they said its a combination like what you two have established.
Noir Mamba gas doesn't come in liquid...elements and molecules have different phases, solid, liquid, and gas. only substances at critical points can be considered a liquid/gas phase.
This is how companies make idiots out of their customers. 70 ml, wow such a great deal! Nope, over half of this is just some pressed gas that allows you to take product out. Technically, they are not lying. But it's not fair. The same like all packagings where you are not able to take whole product out of the container. Lipglosses, concealers, foundations, everything in tubes... I feell I'm being treated as an idiot who is going to buy anything
cxtie pie same! I saw the first video and it hurt my heart a little bit then I legit binge watched them all and subscribed and I'm waiting for more lol
That's ridiculous =/ especially for that price! If I see 70ml I'm thinking that that's the product I'm getting, just like I'm assuming the amount my potato chips say is the amount of chips I'm getting....not chips and air.
once the majority of the gas is out of the can, you can use a can opener to open it around the top and you should be able to get more out of it. pointless for the average user, but my ex was a graffiti artist and he used to do that with his spray paint, there was always a ton left inside.
farijuana that can be extremely dangerous though, the edges are sharp enough to easily cut you and if the can has too much pressure it could explode, also depending on what gas is used, it could be flammable so I wouldn’t recommend doing that, plus it’s useable product you shouldn’t have to break apart the packaging to get what you pay for
Girls what do you think of an experiment with Mascara tubes. I've always been curious to know how much product/uses I'm getting out of Mascara. If it isn't too much trouble maybe you could compare a cheap essence one to some high end brand.
BEAUTY NEWS yeah I've been trying to find tools and stuff that might help you guys extract stuff ever since I saw the Kylie fail....I've put up one of my mini Kylie's for a sacrifice as well
ThatLushGuy If the foundation itself is good, then fine, but it's a bit misleading to list 70ml and not actually contain that much product. Not against expensive makeup, just would like to be clear on what I'm getting if I'm dropping nearly $100 on something 😊
Kristina Esau I totally understand, could get 5 months of use out of it if i used it every day but normally it lasts me a year, it gives such a natural look for when i want to enhance myself but not wear tons of makeup
I wouldn't say its gimicky it is one of my alltime favorite foundations, but given there are expensive ones i like just as much that have a pump and a legitimate amount of product....i will not be repurchasing
I think a lot of people aren't using coming sense here. If in fact THAT much foundation was being sprayed everywhere, it'd be all over her hands and the table.
so from a scientific point volume of gas wouldn't be measured in ml. the gas would need to be measured in a unit of pressure. the calculation would be PV=nRT , P being the pressure the gas had inside, V is the volume of space in the container it can it can fill so here it would be the volume minus the space filled by product. n is the amount of gas in moles, R is the constant used for the units, T is the temperature of the container. I think what is really going on is that for every ml of foundation to spray you need a certain amount of gas to help it get released and the gas can't be over a certain pressure in the can so in order for 70ml of foundation to be in it the can would have to be much larger. sorry this is long. potentially there is 70ml of product, but not enough gas to propel it in a spray to apply. which is just as bad as having 30ml. also for people concerned with some of the product spraying out or being lost somehow in the process, there is no way from the footage that 40ml, which is more than half, could be lost and undetectable. there would be residue all over, remember you're talking about MORE than the volume that was measured. seriously great experiment.
miryam strautkalns someone finally gets my scientific standpoint. I was thinking, a gas isn't measured in mL, as the space between the molecules varies by the space the area it's inside.
Butane is a liquid. It can be weighed as well as measured in volume such as ml. It evaporates at room temperature, therefore it is lost by the time it's sprayed.
In a compressed system such as this can, the butane would be in liquid form. The liquid butane, when released from the closed system (can) via the nozzle, immediately converts to a gas due to the low pressure of the surrounding system (outside the can). This causes the gas to rapidly expand and the velocity of the butane gaseous particles expanding away from each other propels the foundation outward from the nozzle hence the term "propellant." So from a "scientific standpoint," yes you can measure butane as a liquid since it is, in fact, a liquid in the can. Otherwise the can would be the size of 2 gallons of milk or more if the butane was in its gaseous form in the can. Furthermore, please do not misinform random strangers here because 43 people now believe something scientifically false. **pushes up glasses and drops mic*** -a Mechanical Engineer (taken Technical University level College Chemistry 1 & 2, Thermodynamics 1 & 2, specialist in "scientific standpoints")
If you were to heat it up enough for it to become thin enough to pour out you could risk ruining the formula or even burning it plus the packaging of lip products tends to be fairly thick so it would take a long time to warm up the product inside
This foundation only lasts about a month people!! Thank you for this video! It’s very informative and useful for potential consumers thinking of buying this. Ultimately, it’s all about how much of this is actually USABLE. And after having purchased this foundation many times throughout the years, I can say that this video is DEAD ON about how much product is in there. In fact, they were def generous about the amount. It’s disappointing because even though Dior may technically be correct about the total amount being “70 ml”, it is 100% misleading. As a consumer, it’s only natural to assume that “70 ml” is actually what you’ll be able to use, when in fact it is way less than half of that! This only lasts for a month people, maybe two at best! That being said, this is THE best foundation I have ever used, and I swear by it. Honestly, there is just no comparison. And I’ve tried over 100 foundations at this point. I wouldn’t mind the price, if the product amount wasn’t so little. But alas, the foundation is so good that I literally buy this stuff at least once a month. Or if there’s a 15% sale going on at Sephora, or any of the department stores that carries it, I bulk up. But yeah, absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this foundation; just not the price for the amount that you get.
Thank you! I bought one a few months ago and it did not last long I totally figured there had to not be much actual product in there! I so appreciate your review!
You guys are awesome when I found your channel I thought this series was just going to be one of those like "satisfying" crush things like you were doing it just for fun but you girls do a great job at being objective and making sure you give the products a fair chance and try as best you can with packaging to get every bit of useable product included, i really appreciate the effort that goes into these because they are really helpful
I love this video! Thank you! I've never intended to buy this foundation and now I really feel I don't envy the people who own/can afford this product!
Lulu Ho it sucks about the amount of product but I highly recommend it, although there isnt much in it, you need hardly ANY product, if i wore it every day i could probably get 5 months of use, it is great for a natural look
Brilliant! Most people would never know how much product they're paying for! I think the brand should have to state how much actual usable foundation there is ❤️
i love videos like this because it really does help me buy products that have the most bang for my buck. i also love watching makeup get destroyed because I would never do it do my own but like love everything about this
FYI beauties - a cheap, fine kitchen sieve (for lemon seeds/straining tea) set over a canning funnel would make short work of other compressed gas canisters to measure like this. I've used it for goopy acrylics with a whipped texture from an air compressor, worked a treat to save paint stuck in the line. Raid the kitchen section of the dollar store.
Great test! 30 mL is indication you did a fair test. 30 mL is standard for foundation, both luxury and drugstore. I would see your results consistent with standard practice. 70 mL definitely includes the propellant. For such a product, the consumer IS paying for the packaging, including the aerosol pump. Consumer cannot expect the aerosol pump foundation to cost the same as a standard pump bottle because the aerosol pump is considered a value-add. The aerosol pump itself requires R&D. And truly not all aerosol pumps are the same. For example, Avene mineral water aerosol can is far better than Evian one; more even droplets, more control, more consistency. In addition, Dior is also priced for a certain strata of consumers; not everybody. The brand is not obliged to be fair in the opinion of everyone. It only needs to be fair to its target audience. For the record, I will not buy the Dior Airflash at this point in life. Thank you for the video. It has helped me to make this decision.
i would LOVE to see you destroy the Laura Mercier illuminators because I've heard they have a very play doughy texture and it would be so satisfying to watch you cut it up!
you have to be precise when you apply airflash or the Sephora aerosol foundation to your face or applicator, so when I use it, there's always a small risk of wasting more product than I would with another type of foundation. The second annoying thing about these aerosol foundations is that the can will start to feel lightweight two weeks in and you panic thinking you need to order more because you have no clue when you're going to run out. Obviously this issue can happen with other forms of packaging, too, but it's the most disorienting with aerosol in my opinion. I just keep my last bottle on hand to use for touch-ups and then I'm not gonna buy it again. I checked my Sephora one in my bathroom cabinet and it does indeed say 75ml on it. I know based on how long it lasts me that it doesn't have any more than my standard 30ml liquid foundations
Great review girls and I agree with your findings. It is clearly false advertising. I just wanted to point out that turning a spray can upside down doesn't actually work. There is a hose that needs to be in contact with the "puddle' of product in the bottom of the can, and when you open the vent by pressing the top, then the product is forced up the tube by the escaping propellant. When you invert the can, the puddle of product is now all at the top of the can, not in contact with the end of the tube and all that will come out is the propellant. Something to think about in future tests.
Glad to know i don't need to put down good money for a gimmicky product with a small amount of foundations & some very expensive butane. You girls are awesome
I purchased this product a few months ago and even when only using it for special occasions, it only lasted like 2 months (about 30 uses total). The foundation itself, however, is beautiful. I've never liked a foundation as much as I like this one, but I can't bring myself to buy it again with the price and how long it lasts.
Love this channel and the way you guys do this not only is it satisfying and interesting but you learn about how much you're getting also you two keep it real and have grown so fast great work
I once had to use a load of spray paint for a theater project years and years ago, and my hands were DEAD by the time I finished. Hopefully this didn't suck too much filming!!
Thanks for sharing!! Agree... less product in there for sure. I bought this in shade 205. I liked the product but the container only lasted one month and I didn't even use it every single day!
You only need a fraction of how much you would use regular foundations to have the equal amount of coverage with this stuff because the aerosol foundations are incredibly thin with more pigments packed.
People that keep saying some went up into the air it seems like it was definitely has because think about it her hand and the table would be covered somewhat
I guess, they included the compressed gas, that had to be mixed with the Foundation in the stated amount of product inside. Obviously you wouldn't be able to collect the gas in your glass container. So 40ml of product just "evaporated"'
Lichtumwoben omg I've seen so many comments like this people are DUMB. How would you apply this to your face? The same way they are. The only difference is that you'd apply it to your skin and they're spraying it to a test tube. 😂
If I bought this for over $60 (or 90 in Australia- holy SHIT, lol) I'd be pissed! Especially since I have acne prone skin and scars that I like to cover up so I need the extra product! Shame on you, Dior.
Not that much got lost, the majority constituent of the product is gas anyway. So there is more gas then product anyway. The product is also heavier than the gas so the majority should remain at the bottom.
Thank u, i was curious too coz i feel like theres only half liquid in the bottle. Very expensive, but this is my fave foundation & i use it for special occasions only, lightweight with great coverage, doesnt emphasize my pores, & doesnt make my nose dry/ cakey
Bought this foundation and it lasted me as much as any other. I think it's a beautiful foundation and a little goes a long way. Don't just use this video to judge before purchasing. It's in a complete different format to what you're used to. Keep that in mind.
I wanted to hate this foundation, but on my dry ass skin it works so well! Luckily, I don't wear foundation often, and I'm happy with cheap eyeshadows and whatnot, so I can spend the money (I get it in the duty free when I travel to see family which is pretty often) on one product. That said, I can definitely see why this is needed. I don't really look at these things because I'm not that big into makeup or being economical, but if I had looked at a glance and seen 70ml, I would assume that was product, not product + aerosol.
You girls are amazing. You are my beauty bomb. Nothing but the facts, no bull, all real. You have great ideas, you're both stunning but you're also down to earth and I couldn't appreciate you more. You girls rock my beauty world. Thanks.
I really don't get this product. I would never spray an aerosol can in my face (I'm a child of the 60s). If one wants that air-brushed finish, there's Temptu. Novel delivery systems won't outweigh results, and there are some awesome foundations out there with good formulas. I'm curious to know if this formula is any good on its own! Thank you so much for doing this! I love this series!!💙💙💙
My coworker uses this product every day and she has to repurchase every 1-2 months. She says she can make it go further if she sprays it on her brush instead of her face.
just one litlle spray covers all my face P E R F E CT L Y giving absolutely flawless finish. It absolutely worth it, im not a big lover of dior makeup, but this foundation is absolutely win
Hello girls, I wanna say that this is by far my favorite experiment, but because it made me think about other aerosol products I owned and why they run out so quickly, like my sunscreen, and it might be because even when it's saying to contain 90 ml of product that includes around half gas, which is a huge waste of money, even my deodorant, when I changed to aerosol because the bar form is hard to find in the country I live at currently, for example I use one bar in 3 months and 1 aerosol one in a month (or even less). Thanks, kind of eye opening and making me thing to reconsider my options.
even if there is some product in the excess gas from the spray, it doesn't matter. they were measuring how much USABLE product there in in the can. any product in the excess gas is unusable
I use this foundation a lot, and I do notice that the "gas" that flies away definitely is foundation. Or at least has it in it! I'll find dots of foundation all over my makeup desk. I love the finish, nothing compares to how this looks on me. But the price tag is so outrageous, I can't do it all the time. 🙄
thats what i thought but if you look at her finger while shes spraying it, its not that dirty. if it was all foundation, it would be covered so its probably mostly gas. dont think it would be 50ml
40mls of product didn't go up in the air. 40ml of gas went u in the air, not 40 ml of foundation. If there was any foundation in amongst that gas you'd be lucky if there was a fraction of 1ml in it. Don't forget your physica and chemistry lessons - the foundation weighs more than air, so only miniscule molecules will go up in air - and then it would fall - so any overspray would be landing on the desk and beaker - which it did. So even with scraping all of that extra foundation up there is no way there was 40ml of foundation sprayed around the room - there would barely be a fraction of a ml. Dior are selling 30ml of foundation and 40ml of gas and telling you that the delivery method is part of the useable product and claiming that is 70ml
Wouldn’t the product be thinner when sprayed with the gas? So technically it’s not about how much product is in it by measurement, but how many uses there are considering the product is so thin, and is meant to spray in short dosages.
The product isn’t thinner, less foundation comes out as it’s mostly gas spraying out but they still lied about how much product there is in it, 30ml really isn’t that much especially for $60
I have this foundation and I quite like it. However, because it is so pricy I use a separate foundation for everyday (Mac Face & Body foundation) and save the Dior for special events or photographs.
I bought this foundation last month while it was on sale. The sales girl said straight up you get 2 OZ of foundation (US here), so they actually are telling people you get twice as much foundation, not just saying product. I'm a little pissed that it probably isn't as much as they said it is, especially since I fell in love with it, even though it's expensive 😭😭😭
I am so happy you did this video as I have seen a few you tubers rave about it and I was interested not so much now. I would be interested to hear how you both liked it after it's been sprayed out. Perhaps in a future video just a quick update or put it in your empties on your own channel,
I would like you to compare use. Notice how the consistency was almost as viscous as water. I would guarantee you don’t need as much of measurable product as you would a standard foundation with this type of application and consistency.
There isn't much product that actually comes out when you do an aerosol, but I think too it would have consistently come out better or smoother had they held the tube sideways a bit and the can straight u- and down as if you're actually spraying your face.
The foundation is bubbeling because of the left over gas that is used to make it a spay. It probably reacts with the air (that is probz why you need to shake the can to make the foundation come out). It will keep reacting until all the gas has reacted with the air.
LOVE YOU 2 LADYS , AND what your showing. Us who value good new makeup but at the same time dont want to get taken $$$ by big brands and some small chic brands .thank you and keep up the good work girls GODBLESS.XOXO
I've used airflash and it's only good for important events because it would make me break out! but it looked amazing on the skin...and I would spray that sucker on my face
would be cool if you also calculate how much the products are worth after measuring. like for example "you paid 10 dollars for the eyeshadow but it's 5 grams more than it's said so you actually get product for 15 dollars"
Love how people are telling yous how to do your experiments but won't do it themselves!! Plus yous keep saying" usable product" even if you did that onto your face you would still get the "overspray" as such, paint cans, hairspray, cooking oil in a can is always going to have a similar effect no matter how careful you are, it's very informative love watching these videos keep up the good work !!
Go you good things! Whoop whoop! I wouldnt get it firstly because of the price and secondly because spray cans are fickle beasts. Sometimes the gas runs out too soon, sometimes the spray nozzle stops working. I have had way too many bad experiences xx
Thank you! I wish there were more sensible people like you on the internet. Your comment is like a breath of fresh air haha.
For the first second I thought it was product, but you're right, it's the propellent
90luckynumber I
what about the spray top? There is foundation all over it, as well as her fingers. not hating just questioning.
They literally said they added a courtesy 5ml for that excess.
so dior charges for the gas. Nice.
Afortunada77 same with chips bags
I have not bought chips for a long period but i guess producers label bags with grams (measure of weight) and gas does not weigh anything. While in case with dior they label bottle with volume and i assume each consumer thinks it is volume of foundation, not of by-product gas (which has volume)
i found the list of ingredients in Internet. Butane is on the first place. :-))))
Afortunada77 nah, they charge for brand name prestige. Their regular foundations cost roundabout the same
I also charge for my gas...
Hey guys, I have been reading the comments and there are some common things that people bring up that I thought I would address here instead of answering hundreds of the same query:
Firstly, there was no foundation flying in the air - it was just the aerosol gas.
BEAUTY NEWS great video ladies!! Love you 💘
Thank you Alexarose x
BEAUTY NEWS please pin this comment! Everyone needs to read thjs
Now if everyone would read this instead of posting the same questions and comments lol
lol did people actually ask you to weigh something measured in mls? I'm dying. Loads of fun as always girls!
Everyone is saying so much foundation is lost in the air. Wouldn't it be all over the table, their hands, and everything else?
Kelly Lee exactly also the foundation that would be lost would be lost too when you would apply it to your face so...
Rita Oliveira exactly if anything how they were spraying it in the tube would produce more usable product, because I'm sure you don't hold it that close to your face. there would be over spray the farther you held it away.
Kelly Lee it is on the nozzle of the bottle......
Kelly Lee exactly
Katherine Patrick thats because any aerosol can leaks a little around the nozzle when you are spraying it. The gas was escaping from the tube, not the foundation
You should be employed with brands as part of their quality check
Haha we would love that!
*It's the potato chip bag of the makeup world!!!!* 😂😂😂
Artbug 😂😂😂😂
Lol!!
Genius.
I know I will not be paying 62 dollars to put butane on my face 😁
I'm actually really glad you did this.
Meg Alyssa they are measuring how much product there is not how much is actually going on your face and alot of product was lost so this isn't an accurate representation of how much you get
Agreed. This was completely inaccurate. I thought they were somehow going to cut open the product and pour the foundation out.
Linette Styles i don't think that was product that was lost, i think it was gas. because it's aerosolised, the gas in the can isn't going to go into the tube. it's light enough to bounce back, but foundation is heavier so it sticks to the sides and slides in
Kristine that would have been dangerous, it might explode actually, it's flammable and if you are cutting metal, you most likely will get sparks.
The only thing that went into the air was the gas
For anyone saying what about the spray back, if it was product her finger would have been covered in product plus if it was, when you'd be praying on your face you'd still get the spray back therefore you'd lose that product. But in my opinion that wasn't product but air.
Miss Mollie's world On top of that she did it on a white table and we didn't see much of it settle on it either! There is no way 30ml got wasted in that manner.....and it was still bubbling away, wonder if that would have changed anything after it settles
Rafa Ibrahim exactly! Hmmm I'm not sure about the bubbling thing, if it did make a difference it wouldn't have been much I don't think
You two ladies are the MVP. Realest beauty channel out there
Thanks honey x
BEAUTY NEWS Gas comes in liquid form, and the gas is what propels the foundation out of the aerosol. I contacted Dior and they said its a combination like what you two have established.
Noir Mamba gas doesn't come in liquid...elements and molecules have different phases, solid, liquid, and gas. only substances at critical points can be considered a liquid/gas phase.
Do not want to put butane on my face even if it evaporates from it in seconds.
deathburrito23 truth!!!!
"I'm nervous, I don't wanna fuck this up!" - me 24/7
Anyone claiming that *40ml* of the foundation is in the air and/or the can needs to stop being an adult.
Im sure your fingers hate it, but these videos are so satisfying. THANK YOU
Thank you for the lovely comment. Our fingers recovered xx
These videos are both satisfying and painful at the same time 😂😂😂
This is how companies make idiots out of their customers.
I find these videos so satisfying to watch, there's something so nice about just destroying makeup
cxtie pie noooo shit haha
cxtie pie same! I saw the first video and it hurt my heart a little bit then I legit binge watched them all and subscribed and I'm waiting for more lol
That's ridiculous =/ especially for that price! If I see 70ml I'm thinking that that's the product I'm getting, just like I'm assuming the amount my potato chips say is the amount of chips I'm getting....not chips and air.
once the majority of the gas is out of the can, you can use a can opener to open it around the top and you should be able to get more out of it. pointless for the average user, but my ex was a graffiti artist and he used to do that with his spray paint, there was always a ton left inside.
farijuana that can be extremely dangerous though, the edges are sharp enough to easily cut you and if the can has too much pressure it could explode, also depending on what gas is used, it could be flammable so I wouldn’t recommend doing that, plus it’s useable product you shouldn’t have to break apart the packaging to get what you pay for
Yes those are flammable and typically explosive due to gas build up.
you guys should do the Anastasia Brow Pomeade
Girls what do you think of an experiment with Mascara tubes. I've always been curious to know how much product/uses I'm getting out of Mascara. If it isn't too much trouble maybe you could compare a cheap essence one to some high end brand.
Yeah we definitely want to test some out... figuring the best method to do it is the hard part x
BEAUTY NEWS yeah I've been trying to find tools and stuff that might help you guys extract stuff ever since I saw the Kylie fail....I've put up one of my mini Kylie's for a sacrifice as well
Ahhh, that's terrible! What a gimmicky product. Very interesting video, ladies :D
Kristina Esau it's actually a great foundation
ThatLushGuy If the foundation itself is good, then fine, but it's a bit misleading to list 70ml and not actually contain that much product. Not against expensive makeup, just would like to be clear on what I'm getting if I'm dropping nearly $100 on something 😊
Kristina Esau I totally understand, could get 5 months of use out of it if i used it every day but normally it lasts me a year, it gives such a natural look for when i want to enhance myself but not wear tons of makeup
ThatLushGuy Thats fair enough! 😁 Reassuring to know it can go a long way.
When the product is created the "gas" is liquid and is there for measured in ml
**pushes up glasses and drops mic***

+miryam strautkalns
They were measuring the amount of useable product, not the amount of gas.
for the lip stick tubes what if you boil water an drop the tube in it for a minute... might liquidate the product to drain out
Staycia S but thats not as satesfying
If you were to heat it up enough for it to become thin enough to pour out you could risk ruining the formula or even burning it plus the packaging of lip products tends to be fairly thick so it would take a long time to warm up the product inside
I'm shocked it doesn't contain even close to the amount advertised! That's terrible!
Letty Brown the first ingredient is butane so it make sense
It does contain 70ml... just not of foundation which can be misleading
i legit bought this yesterday and now i want my money back
return get luminous silk instead
It is a nice foundation, just very expensive for what you get x
Thank you SO much for doing this! I literally almost bought this
Thank you for watching xx
Cheyenne Willingham nn
With all the smokey part going into the air it looked like a makeup bong! Hahaha
Of course thats a Talia response! Haha love you! xx
i love the way you pin the really informative comments from watchers/subscribers. so good.
Ive got to make my final work for school from psychology, Im sooo done. Im happy you made this video, its so relaxing!
This should b on trending the world needs to see this!! 😶
I think it's so cool that you guys are so much more than just a makeup destroying chanel, and get real deep on stuff like formula, weight etc. Amazing
It's the gas going in the air 😑 not product
Yes...
you ladies do real reviews. I'll keep liking your videos because you put a lot of thought and work into these videos.
Thanks for doing this video, Ladies!! ❤ I've always wanted to see how much product is actually in there!
I love this video! Thank you! I've never intended to buy this foundation and now I really feel I don't envy the people who own/can afford this product!
Yes my grammar sucks! Never mind, it's my 'thing'.
Lulu Ho it sucks about the amount of product but I highly recommend it, although there isnt much in it, you need hardly ANY product, if i wore it every day i could probably get 5 months of use, it is great for a natural look
Out of all the fake youtubers, it's very refreshing to see some genuineness. Keep on being awesome!
Thank you Selina x
Brilliant! Most people would never know how much product they're paying for! I think the brand should have to state how much actual usable foundation there is ❤️
i love videos like this because it really does help me buy products that have the most bang for my buck. i also love watching makeup get destroyed because I would never do it do my own but like love everything about this
We're so glad you enjoy them and find them helpful xox
Sephora has an airbrush foundation that is $28. (It's a pretty good foundation)
If Dior is a potato chip brand it would be Lays😂
LOL! $60 for 50 ml of butane! I guess if you get too depressed about what you spent, you can huff your makeup? OMG 🤣
The propellant is counted in the product weight. The Sephora rep at my store said to expect 30 ml of usable foundation.
Is there any way there is something that was liquid but just evaporated almost immediately in the formula?
I purchased this product a few months ago and even when only using it for special occasions, it only lasted like 2 months (about 30 uses total). The foundation itself, however, is beautiful. I've never liked a foundation as much as I like this one, but I can't bring myself to buy it again with the price and how long it lasts.
This was ridiculously satisfying to watch! You guys do an awesome job and I'm always hanging out for the next video
Thanks Dani! Miss your face xx Kat
when you pour it and it bubbled, it reminded me when I make pancakes & the batter is cooking 😂 many people say the sephora one is comparable 🤔
May I just say (again) you two are absolutely f**king fantastic!!! Tyvm for your honesty and destruction ❤️
Love this channel and the way you guys do this not only is it satisfying and interesting but you learn about how much you're getting also you two keep it real and have grown so fast great work
Thank you Michaela xx
I once had to use a load of spray paint for a theater project years and years ago, and my hands were DEAD by the time I finished. Hopefully this didn't suck too much filming!!
Thanks for sharing!! Agree... less product in there for sure. I bought this in shade 205. I liked the product but the container only lasted one month and I didn't even use it every single day!
You only need a fraction of how much you would use regular foundations to have the equal amount of coverage with this stuff because the aerosol foundations are incredibly thin with more pigments packed.
I actually disagree, you use a similar amount as normal foundations
I love this series so much! I love knowing if I'm getting my money's worth! 💖💰
Glad you enjoy it Amber xx
I would love to see you do a video on destroying tarte makeup. Mostly the liquid products like foundation, primer and more
People that keep saying some went up into the air it seems like it was definitely has because think about it her hand and the table would be covered somewhat
The compressed gas isn't foundation, it's aerosol. The table and her hand don't changed color. It's not "wasted product", it's aerosol being released.
Lichtumwoben gas isn't measured in mL though
If I bought this for over $60 (or 90 in Australia- holy SHIT, lol) I'd be pissed! Especially since I have acne prone skin and scars that I like to cover up so I need the extra product! Shame on you, Dior.
Karina but lots if product got lost in the air 🙄
it would do the same if you were using the product on your face
Samuel Supermodel exactly. The same happens when you're applying it to your face
Not that much got lost, the majority constituent of the product is gas anyway. So there is more gas then product anyway.
The product is also heavier than the gas so the majority should remain at the bottom.
I love you girls so much! Your videos make me smile and I love how candid you are you're just amazing people all around ❤️
Thanks.
I’d buy it if it were 10ml. It’s the most GORGEOUS foundation. That beaker has never been more beautiful 🏆 Kat your lipstick is AMAZING as usual
She says she can make it go further if she sprays it on her brush instead of her face.
this is my first video of yours and i love it! very unique idea. Subscribed!
just one litlle spray covers all my face P E R F E CT L Y giving absolutely flawless finish.
But didn't some of the product go up in the air when you sprayed it into the cyllinder?
it may be, but then Dior shouldn't advertise with 70 ml foundation, that's my thought
thats what i thought but if you look at her finger while shes spraying it, its not that dirty. if it was all foundation, it would be covered so its probably mostly gas. dont think it would be 50ml
Eline Venderbosch but when you spray it on your face this happens was well..... it's pretty accurate
Still isn't close to 70 mil.
Can anyone tell me Kat’s lipstick shade?
I suspected so, didn't think my own bottle would last 70 ml. 😭 The formula is absolutely amazing thoughhhh
Wouldn’t the product be thinner when sprayed with the gas? So technically it’s not about how much product is in it by measurement, but how many uses there are considering the product is so thin, and is meant to spray in short dosages.
We were verifying the volume on the packaging. How many uses will depend on how you use it and how much you use each time.
Yeah its a great special occasion foundation x
PLEASE do the YSL foundation and Anastasia Renaissance Palette
It still makes me look FLAWWWWWLEESSSSS...so I'll continue to use it thank you...
I really enjoyed the sound it made spraying into the tube.
Gently heating the sides of the measuring tube with a hairdryer for a minute or so, will help the foundation to settle.
The foundation is bubbeling because of the left over gas that is used to make it a spay. It probably reacts with the air (that is probz why you need to shake the can to make the foundation come out). It will keep reacting until all the gas has reacted with the air.
Yeah we did think that, we just didn't expect it 😝
LOVE YOU 2 LADYS , AND what your showing. Us who value good new makeup but at the same time dont want to get taken $$$ by big brands and some small chic brands .thank you and keep up the good work girls GODBLESS.XOXO
It is probably 70ml since mL pertains to volume and some of that volume is the gas which dissipates once you spray it.
We can't do that because the prices vary from country to country so it's hard to do
Love how people are telling yous how to do your experiments but won't do it themselves!!
I have had way too many bad experiences xx
true, i've had three bottles of this so far and only one sprayed well the rest was annoying af
