- When a new baby is introduced to the chimp enclosure, tensions spring up between dominant male Dylan and contender Carlos.
The chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes), also known simply as chimp, is a species of great ape native to the forest and savannah of tropical Africa. It has four confirmed subspecies and a fifth proposed subspecies. The chimpanzee and the closely related bonobo are classified in the genus Pan. Evidence from fossils and DNA sequencing shows that Pan is a sister taxon to the human lineage and is humans' closest living relative. The chimpanzee is covered in coarse black hair, but has a bare face, fingers, toes, palms of the hands, and soles of the feet. It is larger and more robust than the bonobo, weighing 40-70 kg (88-154 lb) for males and 27-50 kg (60-110 lb) for females and standing 120 to 150 cm (3 ft 11 in to 4 ft 11 in).

I absolutely love how well their caregiver, Niall, knows each individual in the family. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud when Niall was noting the maturity/growth in Carlos but that he didn’t think that Dylan was lying awake at night thinking “Oh….Carlos is going to kick my ass in a couple of years time.” FOTFLMBO!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Niall is my favorite keeper….he knows his chimp family so well.

I love these chimps and their keepers. Is the show still airing? When was the last season? I can't even remember what platform it airs on because there are so many these days!
It's called Secret Life of the Zoo on Channel 4 (UK), you might be able to find links online! It's an amazing program that shows the behind the scenes for the whole of Chester Zoo! The last series was at the end of 2021 but I think they might be doing another season :)

@@Archangel1607 All these great shows originate in the UK and they are so good. I am in the US. I can only get them from you tube. . I would buy all seasons of episodes from Chester Zoo. I love these Chimps and that guy that works with them-he is the perfect guy with love and knowledge for all of them. I would be at the zoo every day if I lived there.

I didn't see anything about the baby being endangered. They did show that in an earlier video when it was just born but not here. Maybe they're running out of footage
They meant that any scuffle can put the baby in danger from cross fire. The point of the video is about how some males (the more dominant ones) are supposed to sort out the fights and protect the babies because of the danger those violent outbursts cause.
Maybe Carlos snuck a quickie when no one was looking.

I've watched this channel for sometime the last few days. You need to break a few of these up and make a new troop. This kissing your butt stuff on this thread is nonsense. These Animals are constantly fighting in these videos. It's not a healthy environment for any of them.
