We moved to Carmel in 1993. We raised our three children there in the Brookshire neighborhood. The school system was excellent but it was not without its challenges. In 2010 we moved south to Franklin, Indiana, to a home in the country with acreage. People in Carmel thought we had come on hard times. No, it was a choice - we saw how Hamilton county was growing. We wanted a slower lifestyle. After we relocated my son said to me, “ Dad, we should have moved five years ago”. We love Johnson county and all it has to offer. I would never move back to Carmel.
Love all the info you provide. We having a house built in Pendleton. It should be done in August/ September. Can’t wait to move there. We are coming from Southern California. Thanks again, your videos help point us in the direction we were looking for.
@@Shoeless_DA We have been here for three weeks now, we love it here. My only regret, is we didn’t move here sooner to Indiana, but hey… we are here now and love our new home.
I own a home in north central Carmel (The Arts and Design District) that is 120 years old. Nobody is getting it for less than $1 million right now. They are building very large homes on 1/4 acre lots here in my neighborhood. They are all house with little to no yards. It only takes my next door neighbor about 5 minutes to cut his entire lawn.
When he refers to a "very old house from 1985," meanwhile, I'm over here in New York thinking, "Oh, this house is practically new, it was built in 1910."
Thanks for the video! I really want to move to Indiana, specifically Carmel. Just have to convince the other half... Which isnt going well 😂! I was born in Indiana.
When I was growing up in Indy back in the 50s and 60s Carmel and east was VERY RURAL. Never even heard of Fishers,Westfield, etc. Noblesville was totally a separate town, not even associated with Indianapolis.
Hi! I grew up in 50s and early 60s in Carmel , moved in ‘64. Yes I remember the old rural Carmel, and I have ancestry there going way back. I’ve visited a couple times in last 10 years, what a shocker what Carmel’s turned into. Wow.
Sad??? It has developed better than every other american town, the road infrastructure, the main streets that helps suburban people buying groceries without needing a car...

Glad the vids have been helpful!
Life long So Cal for me too, lurking at the Midwest to escape the ridiculous cost of living here.

I moved to Westfield last August from the Chicago suburbs. Had to get used to all the round - abouts!
Hi Jason Compton, thanks for sharing your video about 5 things about Carmel, Indiana! Thanks for the info!

lol!
East vs West Carmel is so real! I remember in high school kids would semi-jokingly beef between eastside and westside
Thanks for full info
No problem! This is a long one

What you called "commercial" is more like mixed use and seems like the best parts of the city
I grew up in Carmel in the 60's through 90's. What Carmel has become is sad.
How so?

It’s definitely not a middle class small town anymore. 1/2 million for homes pricey.
I agree with Bob... I've been here since 1967. What an overcrowded, overpriced busy mess it has become.
It is amusing that a home built in the 80s are older homes .
