If you want a cozier look to the house, set the light color to flame! It makes the house seem so warm and cozy at night! I promise!
I’ll definitely do it!
LifeSimmer uses lights like those but they are circular and she calls them her circles of doom :-)
You're a star. Ive alwas hated visible roof lighting :)
Aaron Alexander x .!
Thank god! Finally found them!
You're a lifesaver. Thanks!!
Another brilliant trick I wish I knew back in the day. I just assumed the lights were as they were and I had to use a lot of them. These are great tips.
Thank you so much for this! Amazing invisible lighting. I'll only need one or two lamps per room now =D And the trick to changing lighting during build/buy mode was new to me too.
Thank you! You have reinvigorated my Sims 3 addiction. The annoying indoor shadows which limited my creativity are gone now with the help of the debug light.
I could kiss you! (Not an exaggeration!!)
Thank you soo much! Now I can finally make a rave club without having to have my sims go there so I can set the light style! Thankz so so so much! :D
I like using the buydebug lights when I’m furnishing and decorating and then get rid of them when I’m done. I find them too bright during play where they cast a bright glow over sims and surfaces. I find the dimmer lights default with the game to have a less harsh and more soothing ambience to them. Besides they eventually stop working when you go into live mode and my sims will walk around the house with the “it’s dark” moodlet
This is going to make the game so much better to play! Thank you James!!!
You might add another split level tutorial touching on just about everything you can think of. THIS hidden ceiling area light thing is actually a HUGE fix for split levels where the "ceiling lights" would be too high for the bottom split and would be compensation for the missing light.
Thank you so much James. I never knew this trick. And I been playing the Sims 3 game. Ever since the base game first came out. Only went back to the game last month. Because I gotten bored with Sims 4. Any way I always thought you had to go in to live mode. To adjust the lighting. Now I know you don't have to.
That cheat is only required to enable BuyDebug. To get the options menu on lights, you hold dont CTRL + SHIFT and then click on the light like I said in the video :)
You are now my favorite person in the world right now, you know how some sims will disappear when they age up, will my game did that and out out of my 7 sims 4 of them disappear! I was on my 6th gen of sims! :( you have no idea how much this helps make my life easier! :)
This is the greatest tip I have ever seen. Wow. Seriously.
Game. Changer. Thank you so much for making this video. I almost gave up on Sims 3 after $100+ in investment. My life has improved lol
Woow man!!! That cheat is awesome! I found tons of new items! Thanks for that!
I have many ceiling lights everywhere and usually I end up clicking the lights instead of the object I'm wanting to click. Thank you!!
Thank you so much. Your tutorial makes me willing to play the game again.
Thank you so much for this awesome lighting tip!
Thank you for making this video! It help soooooo much!
This is what I'm looking for the whole time!! hahaha.. thanks!!
Yay :D I've been looking for these light hahah yay
Your videos are amazing to both the seasoned player and the newbies alike! :)
Woah! I had no idea about this little trick. :o Thank you for this! I'm going to go fix all my lights now.
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! IVE WANTED INVISIBLE LIGHTS FIR SO LONG! THANKS!
Thanks so much for this!
Dude Thank you so much this help A LOT.
I actually use the buydebug lights all the time. However, while I knew I could change intensity in live mode, I didn't know I could also do it in buy/build mode. I always exit to live mode to brighten the lights, or change the lighting color. It'll save me loads of time to be able to do it in buy/build. Thx for the great tutorial...very informative.
Using control + shift + click to change the lighting intensity also works with the debug lights, so using a large number of them is as unnecessary as using a large number of regular lights.
This was a lot of help, thank you.
Thank you, helped so much, really wanted to know how to do that!
Omg thanks so much this really helped me!
Is there a way to make lighting go onto multiple levels? Like say if I had a split level house, and I wanted to light up the area, is there a way to make the light act as if they are in the same room?
//i dunno if that made sense
What I personally do is Is place one of the debug ceiling lights under the lamp on the top floor, I don’t think there’s another way to do it
I still play The Sims 3 so this is very useful, thank you! :)
I had to go onto sims you tempt me!
Thank you, I was actually wondering how you did it!
This is awesome! Thanks for the help! :]
You did awesome tips
this is super helpful thanks!
thanks so much for showing us what to do. I really want the invisible ceiling lights hehe. :)
Outstanding tutorial! +2 Thumbs again!
Thanks for the tips,
I'm defiantly using the debug cheat ;)
thank you so much omg, lights always looked so horrible but my sims would complain of the dark. THANK YOU.
Himawari Uzumaki Naruto fan eh!
+Himawari Uzumaki Sims will not complain about being in the dark in a room as long as there is at least one light in that room, which could be on the ceiling, the wall, and either be a normal light, or the invisible ones from buydebug. Sims also do not care if said one light is in the opposite side of the room (and maybe far enough away that their current position is basically dark). But, yes, the more lights in a room, the easier that YOU can see your Sims and everything else in a room.
Dumpling Rose fan eh! :)
I've been having troubles with the lights. It's one of the reasons why I hated build mode, either the light is too bright, too dark, too yellow or too white. Thank you so much!
So helpful!
Thank you it comes in handy when building a house without a sim
I did, but I'm not sticking to it atm, a lot of things are going on right now that make it difficult to stick to it.
Thank you so much!
I put like 20 of the biggest possible invisible lights in each room xD btw thank you so much!
Thank you!!
THANK YOU
thx the light intensity was helpful
whenever i use the lights from buydebug, it doesn't let me save. i have tried letting the game save for the night and it still doesnt let me save. can you help me?
I had seen those lights in the blueprints but I couldn't find them thanks a lot
That invisible light is also in the coastal bathroom blueprint

I've been playing since 2013 and I just learned about this feature... I was wondering why they don't have the light options like in TS4 lmao
That's so much man! XD very cool

buydebug doesn't work. i usw the cheat Testingcheatsenabled true often enough so i know how it's spelled etc. But buydebug doesn't work. I'm german. So maybe it doesn't work because I have the german version but i really don't know. Any help?
I want to meet you at PAX and thank you for your videos :D
Actually when you go in game you can increase the light intensity by clicking on the lamp.
Thanks! I used to put, like 10 lights in one room and now I don't have to!
OH MY GOD THANK YOU
!Ahhhhhh.. you're the best
In my game i can place lights but in some rooms no light is given off from the light, Any help?
If you've found an answer to this please tell me. I've tried everything, searched everywhere. :/ (but anything you can tell me would be much appreciated.)
For me the BuyDebug doesen't work
How do you zoom in on what your doing on your screen?
do the lights count onto your households bills????
The tutorials for Sims 3 are very nice!
I am wondering if you have any idea how to place the ceiling tiles on the ceiling in Sims 3, if you have any idea could you make a tutorial video?
+Monkeh101 Get your view down low above the floor, and then tilt it up, so you can see the ceiling. Then you can tile the ceiling. I suggest to only use the actual ceiling tiles, as floor tiles on the ceiling (at least in my game), sometimes disappear. Also, your room must actually have a ceiling (as in, the normal blank white one) initially for you to add ceiling tiles. Therefore, there either needs to be another floor (2nd floor, or whatever) above the room, or, if the roof is above, put floor tiles under the roof (you know, while looking at the room(s) from above).
Oh, excellent, thank you! I was just booting up to play, I'll try it. Appreciate your response!
Hey, cool, glad I could help.
Does this work in Sims 4?
Maravilhoso!
Two extra details of info I would add to this otherwise good tutorial is these tips for build/buy mod purposes:
1) Entering Build/Buy mode during Dawn or Dusk will not allow you to see your lot in full Daytime or Nighttime lighting, so don't place lights (or try to get an object's color exact) until the game's time is not during dawn or dusk.
2) A totally dark room will be somewhat lit up (to you, not your sims "fear of the dark"), versus most of the room being dark (depending on it's size) if you add only one light. So I either decorate the room before adding lights, or place the 4x4 ceiling light in buydebug so I can see to decorate, and then replace it with normal lights. I also think those big buydebug lights are in the way to see during Buy Mode, just for my preference.
You know the lights all turn off when all the sims are sleeping, right? The ceiling area light also turns off at night or is always on the entire time?
hey! do you remember or know of a lighting item they had that is a big ring? its pretty big, and its all auto, nothing hangs down from them. its just a big ring of light ?i know they had them in the blueprints, but now i can't find them :( they where the best lighting system i had
It's the *buydebug* cheat. Just click on the question mark, and then you'll have to find it.
How to turn off this cheat? I mean how to hide this question mark? Because when I'm writing testingcheatsenabled false it doesn't work and this mark is still there. Can I fix it somehow or it's going to be for ever?
Type in "buydebug off" without the apostrophes.
You probably already found the answer now, but for anyone else who reads this you can use:
buydebug false
i like the second idea better cause you can save money and your house is kind of cheaper and also the lights don't add any costs to your house, does anyone know how to keep your house to where its under 18,000 simoleons?
they should add recess lighting in the sims 3
I would use the buydebug lighting all the time, but now they don't work anymore.
I have question, do you need money when you build your house and put some things?
He has a previous video in this series. I'm pretty sure it's the video before this. Normally you do need money but the way he shows you is using unlimited money.
i was wondering how to get those lights
If I use buydebug then I freeze at the load screen returning to edit town... Anyone else?
My Sims 3 is super dark, all the colours are super dark too, Please help me!
