James, you're really good at this. Teaching just seems to come naturally to you.
Speaking of CFE. If you wanted to do a series, the curved roof tutorial could be updated. If you use stairs and alt, starting from the top of the curve with a wall that height, then yourself steps to go one step down then level, then two steps down, level etc. Totally unrelated to cliff lots, but curves are fun

I had no idea about the alt foundation! and it never occurred to me to rotate wooden floors to face the way I want! I've always been using create a style instead - what a muppet! I learnt many things during this tutorial haha

THANK you so much for this entire 101 series. I binged it and built. It was great, your cliffside one especially helped me. But I tried to apply it to a house on a shore side so the living room is down a level and out over the water. Took me a while to get it just right because it kept flooding. I did not account for going below sea level
Thanks for doing this. I knew how to do this before but this is a much more efficient way. Off to build a cliff lot!

Thanks James. Great tutorial. This video was really helpful. I've got a folder with just your tutorials. Also I was wondering if anyone knows how to put the planter bowls for gardening on a table. I downloaded a house from the Exchange and the builder had done that, and built this beautiful little garden space on a balcony of the house with planters on top of tables. I've tried everything, all the cheats I can think of and nothing has worked. I'd greatly appreciate anyone being able to enlighten me.
I've recently gotten into the Sims 3 again, with some more expansions and I have been watching your videos, and really loving them! I'm wondering though, what if I wanted a the foundation to be flush with the surrounding terrain so you could not see the foundation itself, but still allow a room to be built below and inside the foundation as you did? Would you simply go down one more step, or would it not let you since it may act as a new floor?
I have only just getting the hang of the basics with CFE cheat so that series you are planning would be a super big help!
I had no idea about the alt key with the foundation and the stairs! I will have to use that now but one question does that mean, with the foundation being one step high, the sim will just step up it? Like that small, light wood foundation?
Wud about more lvl below and and a backdoor garage coming out of the cliff that be sweet

Are you able to custom make the cliff lots? Or do they come with an expansion pack? I don't think my game has any lots with cliffs and I can't figure out how to zone a new lot onto a cliffed area as the land says it needs to be level...

can you also build half walls on the outside and get the ground deep enough so it's still 16 steps but from the outside it looks even smaller than just one level?

So what do I do if my walls are clipping through the doors on the lower floor? The doors disappear in live mode and appear clipped in edit world/build/buy.
Can you make another level beneath the one you've just created? making it a 3 level house? (sorry about my english)
I was wondering the same thing. Like have the above ground be one level, but then there's two underground levels in the cliff itself. Set on one of the beach cliff lots, and using the sloped driveway design James showed a few tutorial episodes back for a pathway to the beach itself, would be awesome.

ok I got this now, but how do I place lot on the cliff in the first place before I can build on it? cause it always went red every time I try to put lot on cliff, and it says something like "un-routable", can anyone help me please? thanks in advance :)

How do you turn the floor patterns?
Anyone remember how to make basement walls functional? You can't place or hang stuff from foundation walls.
Before you remove the centre of the foundation, places walls, then remove the foundation, and the foundation walls will be usable. OR just use moveobjects on to place / hang things on foundations walls.
