tunezjunkie87 There was a civil defense siren at my high school (half a mile from my house), and I'll never forget the racket it made when it was tested! God, I love the haunting, chill sound of the two-tone sirens they made like this in the old days. The newer stuff doesn't really put that same scare into me.
In my first apartment, one told me on the first Wednesday of every month there would be an air raid siren about 100 ft. from my window! Just about jumped out of my skin the first time it happened!!
To the many dislikes, why'd you even bother watching the video in the first place? Nothing will ever beat a 1950s Federal Signal siren, no matter how scared you get by hearing it.
Best siren in my opinion. Too bad Federal Signal discontinued them sometime in the early 1990s. These sirens such as this one, the 2T22, the SD-10, Thunderbolt, and all others date back to the early-mid 1950s, during the Cold War.
Good to see a town that takes care of their equipment AND runs a proper test. This siren looks like it has been painted recently. I also like the fact that the timer solinoid is set for a two seconds cut / ten seconds power in attack mode. It looks & performs like new.

Imagine hearing this, but the sounds of grenades exploding and/or gunfire in the distance. Anyone who served during OIF/OEF knows this all too well. Even if it was a drill, hearing this meant "Shit's going down! Get ready!"
I would hold hands with my girl and family, kissing her as the flash arrives, while the tears evaporate off of our faces and we are vaporized, as the radioactive era begins, and the world ends.
In case someone's interested: when the sound is at it's high peak it's a B major triad chord tuned to approximately 432 Hz, or as I like to call it, the Pantera tuning.
The solenoids block the top and bottom intake pipes. The air air gets blown out the 12 horns on the top threw the top pipe and the 10 horns on the bottom get their air from the bottom pipe. All that you need are 2 solenoids. Blocking one intake pipe makes the high tone(top row) or low tone(bottom row) go silent.

FYI this siren is still here and tests monthly. The paint is definitely faded but it still sounds epic! Great video. Rip thunderbolts. Keep it up. 😊
Where I live, they test the sirens the first Saturday of every month at exactly 12 noon. I'll never get used to it. What sucks is my bedroom window is 350 feet away. Over here it is used to alert the fire department. We have a magnesium casting plant here in town and every time their fire system gets a little hot it triggers an alarm.
this is the "you are about to die" sound
Yeah this is definitely the natural disaster alarm.
Sounds like a hormonica
Imagine a 2001 with this kind of chopper but with a conpletely modified chopper housing
why are there 1.3k dislikes on this video???? this 3T22 sounds really good!
