Planet Coaster - Jägerhorn Mountain Train (Part 2) -

  • In the second episode of Jägerhorn, we're building the coaster's weenie: a baroque Swiss church with a custom spire and custom gable roofs. The building that towers over the area despite a small size - it is actually downscaled, made out of pieces smaller than full tiles - sets the theme and atmosphere for the rest of the mountain, while providing some forced perspective to make everything look bigger than it really is. In the second part of the video we're adding a scenic railway bridge for the coaster to go over (and under) - and add some mountain-scope like landscaping to the scenery.

    I wonder what it would look like if Silvarret made a wild west park... It would be so awesome. I can imagine that he would come up with some obscure American Architecture style, or he might focus on the landscape instead, and emulate landscapes like in Zion National Park in my home state.

      I know. So much untapped potential... I love visiting southern Utah. You really can't find red canyons like that anywhere but in the American southwest. I think I remember someone saying "Zion national park is like Yosemite painted in oils."

    You could place some nets right above the paths. In the Alps they are placed on rock walls to stop the rocks from falling down onto the road. This is realistic and adds some nice little detail.

    • @Silvarret
      @Silvarret  7 років тому +1

      A few people have pitched the idea, I have no idea how to make it look decent though! A bad lack of nets in the game. Besides, I'm not sure if I'd have people put hundreds of hours into designing rocks just to cover them with nets IRL - but it'd definitely add to the atmosphere.

    I love every build you makeBut i think that if the stairs would turn to the right, and end on the left side of the churchhouse, it would let you make a path that goes down the montain, which would look very interesting, plus a dirt path would let you a lot of space to utilize path detailing in a much vertical fashion, srry about my english, its feeling kinda rusty today XD (dont use road splines, form the path using terrian paint and details to border that path ) great vid as allways ;)

    The dedication is noticed in your videos, the level of detail is impressive, the next level would be to introduce games of shadows as in, Chichen Itza on equinox day, that playing with the shadow structure that projects along the staircase simulates the Body of a serpent and at the end of the staircase the sculpture of the head of a feathered serpent representing Kukulkan. It has been a long wait, but worth it: Very nice video, beautiful little church. It looks very realistic.
    Two questions: 1) Is there a way to make the posts of the handrails & fences that go up the hills "upright" (vertical) in Planet Coaster? Right now the fences that go up the hill look kind of weird.
    2) I think visitors can see from the terrain right at the beginning of the staircase to the church that that staircase doesn't go anyway. (The terrain goes up, not down.)

    • @daniello417
      @daniello417 7 років тому

      I've never tried posting a link in a comment, but I thought a picture would make my question 1 clear: This is how they normally look like: www.auf-den-berg.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/weg-bergauf.jpg

    • @Silvarret
      @Silvarret  7 років тому +1

      Thank you!
      Unfortunately there's no way to keep fence posts vertical - the fences come in entire pieces, so slanting them slants their posts as well, inevitably. The only alternative is building your own fences from the ground up, but that never looks quite as good horizontal. It's a trade off, I think.
      The staircase is a good point, I'll have to think about that one. I like the staircase better this way for the composition, but it doesn't make much sense. I'll see if I change it some day, bu I'm not sure.
