Pat Bishop was brilliant as Antonia McNally, she brought something to the character but I have heard that she was a lovely person in real life nothing like Toni at all. Lesley Baker as Monica was also brilliant too, imagine her, Bea and Toni as my tough relatives. Robert Bridgend Wales
😂😂😂 yeah I noticed that over the years watching repeats on here. The writers totally changed her character. Probably thought in their heads she WAS fat and dumb? that's most likely why they changed martha. Sexism back then in those days was rife! Funny how McNally calls Ms Bennett Vera and doesn't get shouted at for it?? good of lizzy to belittle bea to doreen while she's in solitary not able to defend herself!!... two faced old sow!! 😠
@@karennicholls8532 She was a good actress, unlike Meg. Remember when she was locked in that booby-trapped warehouse and she did her "crisis" acting, flopping on the floor like a fish, and screaming "help" in the most unconvincing way?!
Vera shows real interest in Fletches Kid.. life handed her cards the same as the prisoner...her character has shown a side so many times that is the antithesis of who she has to be to get by...her learned behavior vs her natural self.
OMG I used to watch this program waaay back in the early 80's! My girlfriends and I would race home from being out dancing or whatever just to catch it at 11:00pm on one of the 4 local TV stations we had back in those days! I can't believe I found all the shows here on UA-cam!! OMG... this tired teacher is gonna binge watch like a maniac now that school's out for the summer!!! PS The scene in this episode with Doreen and Lizzy stoned and talking on the curb is just too funny!!! LOL Brilliant, campy AF program!!!!!!
Lizzie and Doreen having that unintelligible stoned conversation was hilarious. And Sheila Florence played being stoned bloody brilliantly, lol. 11th December 2024.
If I ever smoked an entire j0int by myself I'd be catatonic. I'll do one h I t and I'm on the floor laughing at nothing. Doreen sounds exactly like me when I smok
Vera made me laugh When she looked at that smoke from Doreens wacky cigarette and said "What's the smell" "Where did you get that". It was the way she realised she could smell something after yelling at Ferguson, then how she looked at that cloud of smoke. lol
Wow, a young looking Jeanie Drynan. As soon as I saw her I thought it was the actress that played Betty Heslop in Muriel's Wedding 15 years after this. I've never watched every single episode, now on my first full outing from 001 to 692. Watching in the early hours of 19/12/22. What a coincidence! ;)
Now watching this same episode in the early hours of 11/12/24.... w0w, almost 2 years since my first outing. I am so far enjoying the show much more second time around. Fair dinkum. And would you believe it the actress Pat Bishop who is doing a damn fine job of playing Toni McNally was once married to Bill Hunter.
Doreen's little booties have repaired themselves pretty quickly. Not to mention her clod hoppers, she seems to be walking normally again. Those Aussie drugs must be amazing.
Eliza Beth The stock footage rock music that they used until somewhere in the 200's. It was either that music, or disco music, or even some easy listening music, whatever that is again lol.
Andy JS The programme makers use pop music in the background and/or some easy listening music, which I guess is relaxing music and even music to drive to, and sometimes music without any words. 😃
In all the years Prisoner was originally screened I didn't hear any familiar music and I always had a radio on or was out where music was playing. Please note, none of the songs had lyrics either.
Note that Denise Morgan wrote this episode. From the dialogue here, I have a feeling that she, Fiona and some of their cast-mates indulged back in the 1970s! I was in high school at that time, and students were allowed to smoke cigarettes during lunch break. Of course, nobody was smoking tobacco, not even the teachers. Afternoon classes were often very interesting.
It took Doreen to breathe on Miss Bennett for her to twig it's not an ordinary cigarette and Meg didn't realise at all? Wow marijuana can be smelt a mile away.
So Jeanie Drynan was dressed by Black Orpheus. Were they a high-class brand in Australia? It seems from Google that Gilbert Broadway was actually quite a famous hairdresser in 1970s Australia which surprised me!
Katten Findus It is definitely a show that people under almost every episode of Prisoner/Kvinnofängelset on UA-cam admit that they love watching again and again, even when they get to the end, they start from the beginning again, and maybe even take a break from the show, but later on in time, they start watching again somewhere along the line. I'm exactly the same, although I tend to watch parts of the series here and there, instead of watching it from the beginning to the end like everyone else does. I will admit I've still not watched the whole series yet either, but I need to continue, so I can complete the series at long last now that the whole series is here on UA-cam and that I also have the DVDs too. 😊😃
The first 59 episodes. I'm already up to episode 187 and I'm enjoying it very much. The 1981 episodes have just started. I've cheated a bit because I've had the playback speed on 1.25 or 1.50 sometimes when the action has been a bit slow. I should reach episode 200 tomorrow.
Very funny episode. The result of having a few puffs on pot, weed, cannabis, leaf, kif, bhang, tea, Mary Jane or - as I like to call it - Mari-Joanna, was side-splitting. Karen's not exactly streetwise. Therefore, can't quite see her transforming the Halfway House into a Den of Iniquity. Vera didn't like being wrong-footed.xx
I kind of hate the way Vera says what she wants to drink, and Fletch repeats it to the bartender. Like, clearly the bartender was right there, and could hear her say what she wants for herself. I'm so petty.
Vera was a pretty woman, I don't think Jim was too good for her, but he would have just used her and moved on like he did with others. For 2 people who seemed at odds with each other, they were sucking face like crazy
Fiona Spence (Vera) has nice features and hair. It’s only her stern expressions and constant frowning that make you think otherwise. From one lady to another she’s actually quite lovely looking especially when she treats you to one of her rare smiles! 😊
.. She practilly hands Mzrta the box full of smuggled stuff in the laundry to put in her cell then bolts it with key and chain then says Got a snitch among us..
This is my favourite episode, Lizzie "ooh, ooh you're busted me a-a-a-arm" 😂😂😂😂😂
I like how quick Doreen's foot has healed.
TheVidkid67 Me too. I noticed that she seemed to be able to move around so much. Hehe.
She was limping while working in the dinning room. Noticed it as she was walking out. Dr Greg did a good job :)
Remember when it was originally aired you only got two episodes a week so it seemed much longer
🤣
She was limping all the way through
The bit where there all off their heads on pot in the garden is hilarious.
This was hilarious! I especially loved Doreen offering Vera a drag!
May have lightened Vera up a bit.
I feel so bad for Karen. She tries SO incredibly hard and what a powerful character!!
More groovy disco tunes with Karen at 2:42, and when Toni gives Lizzie, Dor' Martha and Kath their first joint, that was hilarious.
I don't recall ever being in circle smoking wheed where everyone has their own j0int🤣
Stoned Lizzie is hilarious. She should lay off the booze and smoke more herb.
Better for you too.
Better than tobacco
Another error, Monica is walking downstairs to Solitary, it's upstairs 😂
Gotta admit this is one of my favourite episodes. Love Monica Ferguson
Why can't I stop watching this show?
Because it's bloody good.
Oh flaminhell! The funny cigarettes scene is the best!
that toni looks a bit like princess anne.
I thought the same thing!
@@randywolfinger1496 I never thought of that but now it's mentioned yes princes Anne 100% 😂😂👍
Meg putting one of the brandy bottles in her coat pocket, she must be planning on having a cheeky drink later on lol
Meg seriously couldn't smell the pot even with the wind blowing? LOL@Doreen puffing it like a kid trying a cig for the first time. XD
Meg couldn't smell a fart in an old people's home 🏡
LOL!
Heather Snodgrass She couldn't smell a pig in a pigsty.
Heather Snodgrass That's the problem with old people. Like the house of Lords a load of old lavender and piss 😉
Meg is way better then all of you
Pat Bishop was brilliant as Antonia McNally, she brought something to the character but I have heard that she was a lovely person in real life nothing like Toni at all. Lesley Baker as Monica was also brilliant too, imagine her, Bea and Toni as my tough relatives. Robert Bridgend Wales
The fruit basket from episode 58 certainly got around. Even Karen got an apple.
Doreen isn't even inhaling LOL
Was Collette Mann a smoker in real life?
Why has Martha, gone from being fairly level headed( passing coded messages) to being thick af and talking like she’s slow?
😂😂😂 yeah I noticed that over the years watching repeats on here. The writers totally changed her character. Yes! I was searching for this comment 😂
That was really good drunk acting from Karen! I really enjoyed watching that! :D
Realistic - I agree.

(I know it's a soap but could it ever have made it without Vera? She is almost a female character out of shakespeare...)
22:10
“Get your hand off me!”
😂😂😂😂
Erica says they aren't fools and she's the biggest one of all.
So many good lines in this one. But everyone having their own marijuana ciggie?! That's a lot!
Everyone still passed it around back then. You didn't have heaps of joints going in one room at the same time.

Karen is living in her 3rd place since leaving prison. 2 more to go before she moves into the halfway house.
love them all stoned
I want to see Erica stoned. Bet she is a man hunter when stoned all pants down. The naughty nymph she probably is💕
John Walters If only the whole world could smoke a joint at the same time How peaceful our world would be :-)
bunnyjadeboo tait Never smoked one in my life ever😊
Make all of them stoned - including Vera 😂😂😂😂
Vera would be sooo cool stoned. lol :-)
17:57 Doreen 'I feel triific' LMAO
Haha-great episode! “Busted me arm” 😂😂😂
Lizzie and Doreen having that unintelligible stoned conversation was hilarious. And Sheila Florence played being stoned bloody brilliantly, lol.
11th December 2024.
I’m missing Bea now! And Erica doesn’t leave already does she? I hope not! Seeing the women stoned was funny 😂

I like the fancy overhead cam shot...
Evan Dixon It's rare that we get these alternative camera shots in this show, but when we do, they are great to see, aren't they? 😃
When I see Fletchers tash I think of the times Nigel Mansel failed to beat Ayrton Senna 😀
See, that's exactly why we have that old saying "Snitches get Stitches!!!!"
You definitely don't actually have to do time to know that nasty things can happen to "snitches".
Great episode 😂

The Big Red Phone is back!!!!
Poor Vera she's so damn desperate for love
Aren't we all
Seems way back then women thought it was cool to have nipples at belly button level?
You shouldn't blame Lizzie Mrs Jackson, they didn't have drugs in her day LOL
Love this episode especially being a South Australian lol
I see she's handing out the pot in a Pall Mall cigarette pack. It's a wonder they didn't get the munchies.
Doreen's little booties have repaired themselves pretty quickly. Not to mention her clod hoppers, she seems to be walking normally again. Those Aussie drugs must be amazing.
2:26 disco music, no bra, at the majestic hotel, Karen's really living it up.
I'm forgetting if Gregsy & Megsy are on or not. Meg said a few episodes ago she's not involved with Greg any more.
Vera bennet's acting is Australia's equivalent to Bette Davis
It's Muriels Mum from Muriels wedding! 26:50
AmandaClody Well spotted, so it is!
@@Tastyboi1 She doesn't have a crack at Karen, quite the oppsite. She tells Karen to move on because she's getting too close.
Did you notice that George Lucas was Muriels dad?
if you havnt had a smoke in a good while a few tokes would work some magic lol
The girls on wacky backy-hilarious!
If the cafe customer are so dodgey why don't they just ask for money upfront
I don’t believe putting on a chicken would suit you, Meg. 🤪🤣
I'm surprised no one could smell the pot. It stinks to the high heavens
Favourite episode, love the dope smoking in the garden
2:28 sounds like something by Kool and the Gang.
you got to smile at vera's commitment.
Lizzie was complaining about powdered eggs not milk wtf xDD
Haven't you seen powdered eggs in the supermarkets? They are real and were created to be soldiers rations. They taste disgusting.
Lol. Thank God I am not the only one crazy.
I want Bea outta solitary (and some of that pot--lol)
Who thought that bright blue suit and shocking pink shirt that Angela is wearing would look good together??
The "governor" is so irritating -- so wishy-washy, I am rooting for the prisoners.
Vera and Toni could have been best friends if she's of stayed with George Lucas lol
I wouldn't want to work in that cafe anyway, having to listen to that godawful music!
Eliza Beth The stock footage rock music that they used until somewhere in the 200's. It was either that music, or disco music, or even some easy listening music, whatever that is again lol.

Fletch is a male chauvinist pig who needs to demonstrate how "macho" he is to compensate for how inferior and depressed about his life he actually is.
Vera is so desperate. Did she expect Fletch to date her?
Yes she did, she sure had high hopes anyway. What a look when he said his wife was going with him.
Lmfao
He kissed her
I think Vera saw every date or outing with a man as a possible permanent relationship.
Vera was a pretty woman, I don't think Jim was too good for her, but he would have just used her and moved on like he did with others. For 2 people who seemed at odds with each other, they were sucking face like crazy
