When Lizzy got handed the letter in the rec room, I love the remark by Bea "It's probably a bill.", I actually laughed out loud at that line. I love these little casual offhanded lines that are peppered throughout every episode, whether scripted or adlibbed, they really make the show (and characters) great.
This ep is very near the knuckle with me. My mother discharged herself shortly after having me. S.S's gave me back to her, but she disappeared again when I was 12 weeks old. I was fostered and my siblings lived in Ireland with the gran. I was 14 when my mother was murdered. I never met her. Written a book.xx Loving this.
When Doreen gives it to Ros we find out it's 'je reviens' by Worth. An old famous floral scent. I understand Judy Garland sometimes wore it, along with Ma Griffe. Smell is indeed a very powerful memory trigger. Doreen would probably have been around her mom while she was dressing and applying the perfume. You can still buy je revien
Does anyone else like watching Vera's face when someone speaks, cos there are times when I swear she is trying REALLY hard not to crack up laughing? It's great fun!
Wasn't it just. I read an article once about how strong the link is between retained memory and sense of smell. It all got a bit technical halfway through but it made me think.
Poor Roz learned a very harsh lesson. When you find yourself caught up in the system all you can do is work the system to protect your own hide to the max. Leave your ideals at the door.
Rosie's baby must be about 18 months? She had it during the riot when Karen wasn't long in & Karen's done 18 months & has been out for a bit now. Vera's forever saying 'they're all criminals' etc, she forgets she was harbouring a drug dealer once & handled stolen money.
See, middle age ain't so bad? & boy was Melbourne different, a perfect (& grotty setting for Prisoner) You should see Dr Millers practice today, looks a million $ (& another million or more to buy it).
The women should be more careful not to have private conversations whilst 'big ears' Vera is around. I you don't want all your dirty washing aired all around the prison.
Yh they were even in the same vase I thought I was the only one to notice it. I do love pcbh it's very addictive. 😘 from London UK ,🧑⚖️🧑✈️🚓🇬🇧🧑🦰queen Bea is 1 in a million she is an awesome actress her and Lizzie is what makes the show good. And dizzy Doreen makes me laugh.
"I've got terminal cancer" - Ah, GO ON THEN, pull the other one, yeah? I haven't seen this in so many years, I had to miss a lot when it switched to daytime in Chicago and I was in school at the time with no VCR, so I missed out on a lot. It's great to be able to get up to speed here. Dor's mum could be bullshitting her about the cancer.
***** sally lee house is the first halfway house called after sally who died in ep 1, driscoll house which judy bryant runs is the 2nd halfway house named after susie driscoll later in the series.
Leanne Blake I can't imagine having a baby cry so much. Mine hardly cried at all and when so, it was really quiet. She also slept the whole nite and had good naps in the day. Not even a hissy fit at home or in public.
Where did Roslyn get the suitcase and change of clothes? She had nothing when she came in and said she had no one to bring anything. That's why she wore a uniform even though she was on remand. Hmmmmmmmmm
I find the dual meaning of the nickname "Vinegar Tits" interesting. Old Vera earned it for being too harsh. NuVera pretty much got landed with it for being too soft. It's cool how it worked for both incarnations of the character despite the fact that their personalities are different.
Katelyn She did. But when Joan found out about it, Vera got a lecture for "not being up to the job", saying it happened because the women detected weakness in her ( I think they were actually trying to get Fletch, but they had a good laugh over Vera, and Joan actually was right at that point) NuVera was quite soft until the vinegar incident.
+Katelyn Boomer spilled it thinking Fletch to come in and slip on it to get back at him for being harsh with Frankie. She wasn't expecting Vera to get there first.
I think Rosylin is being a bit naive to think she will be let off. I know she's young but I thought someone of her intelligence might know that she won't get away with it. I think she should get better legal advice.
+3032l surprised she didn't have a singing career, I mean its not like a person in a soap doesn't then go on to have a singing career, I mean that has NEVER been done as it !
The writers were spot on with this episode. I can smell a certain scent and it will take me right back to my childhood. That is one sure way of remembering something. Life is prison is a little harsh for Roz.
Anne Haddy, who plays Doreen's mom, well her real life husband James Condon was in Prisoner too in later episodes. He also had a short stint in. Neighbors. Anne Haddy was sick all throughout her life with different conditions.
They always talk about what a great governor Erica is how liberal and sympathetic she is, blah blah blah. But in reality she's completely cold and callous when she actually should show some empathy (with Rosie and her baby) and seems incapable of relating to any of the inmates due to her hoity toity background, which is actually kind of important. I'll never understand Meg's constant brown-nosing when it comes to Erica as if she's any good at the job when she's really not.
Am I the only person wondering where the fuck has Meg been??? She's been none existent for at least three episodes and suddenly pops up again near the end of this one with nothing being explained about her absence. Also, what happened to Jean??
7:05 when Roz says she had to kill mcnelly because the law didn’t punish her it reminded me of a show called arrow about a vigilante. ua-cam.com/video/TdTK38tvyLU/v-deo.html
Regarding the series Arrow about a vigilante,it was good, until they ballsed it up,from series five.As for O Connel she gets on my nerves.Surprised they never did a male version of Prisoner as a show of its own.Tink 5/5/48.
jennifer johnson Either way, they would have taken the kid away. The doctor's report might not have helped. If it did, there are ways to maintain the status quo.
i dont understand why Meg let Ros leave the prison for her court case with her suitcase. no prisoner leaves for court with anything. even IF they are let off their stuff tis sent to them
Where has Meg even been is the bigger question, she's been gone for like three episodes which is about equivalent to a month in the world of Wentworth. She vanished with no storyline to it unless I've missed something? She's probably been skiving down the magical cellar with her buddie Jean Vernon who also vanished into thin air with nothing being explained lol.
Doreen realised Alice was her mother through the smell of the perfume as Alice used it herself. But doesn't perfume smell differently on each woman because of body differences?
Doreen had mentioned many times how her mother smelled nice, fresh flowery etc. The writers wrote that in early on so they knew when to insert into this show at the right time. I knew that was going to shake Doreen when I saw her spray it on.

I agree. It's the type of thing everyone says in real life.
Bea didn’t say them words she said she could of left a couple of forged fivers
big thanks for uploading all these episodes 600+......wow
They have only uploaded 2 and a half seasons
if you look again they uploaded all 692 epp's@@DavidScott-hj7fo
Vera's getting more vile and bitter with each episode, she's great !!!
Old and hard before her time!
Met a Vera on one of the comments geez our own professional screw hahaha.
Such an emotional episode.... Seems to be the theme of mothers & children.
Written a book.xx Loving this.
so very sorry to hear that, what's your book called?.
thats very sad and a brave thing to write
❤❤ 😢
Smells are like music. Sometimes they can take you back to places and people and you can see them as clearly as if you were there.
That was one hell of an ending! I was holding my breath the entire time!
26:38 Bea hugging Roz and saying "Take care kid.." whilst under her breath muttering.. "See you in about oohh, 3 hours.." lol
Does anyone else like watching Vera's face when someone speaks, cos there are times when I swear she is trying REALLY hard not to crack up laughing? It's great fun!
Hunx Lam I've noticed that.
Doreen always looks like she wants to burst out laughing in most of her scenes lol
Clever idea to link it back to the perfume as a deep olfactory memory. Well played by Colette Mann.
Wasn't it just. I read an article once about how strong the link is between retained memory and sense of smell. It all got a bit technical halfway through but it made me think.
Lizzie on Davidson: "She's not a bad old stick". Chuckled most of the evening on that line alone
Kelly Snyder Hahaha.
Thank you. I try to incorporate into my life whenever I can.
How come Ros left with a suitcase? I thought she had nothing when she entered the prison. 😂😂
True. That's why she wore a uniform.
All I believe she put in that suitcase, which must have been donated to her, was her other brown dress that she wore when she shot Antonia McNally. 😃
Funny how the writers overlooked that detail
Poor Roz learned a very harsh lesson. When you find yourself caught up in the system all you can do is work the system to protect your own hide to the max. Leave your ideals at the door.
Pat @ 33.00 "See I'm a mother"........ I would never have guessed🤔
Only reminds us every 2 seconds.
She's like a recipe blogger.
Then later ignores those Two kids she talks about every couple of seconds.
Replaced by Chrissy talking non stop about her baby
I feel sorry for Doreen, having been treated like dirt by her father and not having her mother growing up :-(
I agree ..:(
Yea sometimes i feel so bad but then I remind myself it's just a show Doreen's my faveorite and Lizzie
+Kristen Miller Yeah but the actors do a good job you tend to forget they aren't real people ...My favourite was Vera and Bea
+Sabrina Scott yea that is true
that was a cruel way to take Rosies baby
22:13 - DAMN, those babies can scream - they must've been scarred for life by Vera's face🤣
Does this little girl really think she's going to get away with murdering? Seems like she's the only one who thinks it though
Of course everyone else knew it. They knew she was heading for a fall but how do you convince someone?
They let that baby cry so loudly I couldn't hear them talk. lol
Rosie's "I'm not mad or anything" side glance at 19:20 was priceless 😂😂
Helen Daniels " you look lovely Doreen",
umm no! lol
I appreciate subtitles when that kid is wailing
lol me too..he is beyond loud
The sound guy messed up the levels
Pat O'Connell reminds me of singer Judy Collins.
She's an annoying cow her and her shitty kids and mother!
Rosie's baby must be about 18 months? She had it during the riot when Karen wasn't long in & Karen's done 18 months & has been out for a bit now. Vera's forever saying 'they're all criminals' etc, she forgets she was harbouring a drug dealer once & handled stolen money.
This episode was on Australian tv the day I was born💣
John Walters Oh dear.
Not in the same maternity ward where this was filmed I hope :)
cucci cucci lmao ... good one
See, middle age ain't so bad?
& boy was Melbourne different, a perfect (& grotty setting for Prisoner)
You should see Dr Millers practice today, looks a million $ (& another million or more to buy it).
I love this show and I wished that it was still on
Pat needs to shut her mouth, and mind her business!!!!!!!
It's taking Doreen a looong loooong time to put the flowers in the vase.
I'm surprised Vera has any time to listen to private conversations....... she must spend all her time making out reports. lol
😂😂😂
The women should be more careful not to have private conversations whilst 'big ears' Vera is around. I you don't want all your dirty washing aired all around the prison.
Vera and The Freak must be cloned. They are all over the place.
Those white flowers on the Governor's desk look like the flowers Doreen picked in the country.
24:53 - I'm sure the Doc called Erica 'Mr Davidson' 😂
There's no one who operate that press better than the original Wentworth Bea.
When Doreen appears wearing that dress she looks like she has just won first prize in a dairy cow competition, all that's missing is a rosette.
Prisoner wouldn't be the same without her though.
Got to love vinegar, even though she's evil!
Leanne Blake Your profile pic looks like a cat on one angle and a woman with dark glasses and a wine glass in her hand on another angle.
Not evil, in fact a very sad character if you really watch the show
Yes, she’s not evil. She’s more of a miserable, nasty strict disciplinarian at the prison, but then sad, lonely and vulnerable when at home.
As Lizzie said a few episodes ago, "There's no justice in here or out there" (paraphrased).
In which ep did they rename it to the Sally Lee House? This is the first I'd heard it, yet I knew they'd eventually do that.
***** sally lee house is the first halfway house called after sally who died in ep 1, driscoll house which judy bryant runs is the 2nd halfway house named after susie driscoll later in the series.
Great episode. Sigrid Thornton (Ros) really is very good in this. "You know what my name is". Powerful stuff.
Loved her playing Sonia Stevens in Wentworth
Sigrid Thornton version of Sonia Stevens on Wentworth rewmake was better than the character who played Sonia Stevens on Prisoner.
She’s like levels above the rest at acting. Got such a nice singing voice as well
Sigi Thornton is superb here, and just 20.
That baby cries relentlessly
Leanne Blake I can't imagine having a baby cry so much. Mine hardly cried at all and when so, it was really quiet. She also slept the whole nite and had good naps in the day. Not even a hissy fit at home or in public.
He's probably wanting his mum whose probably standing somewhere out of his view.
Mrs. Hemmings left the halfway house never to return according to her without her purse 42:00
I think it was a shopping bag.
35:39 Anyone else catch she said the dress was 80 "dollars"? Doesn't Australia go by the pound?
Tony Boleno oh okay. I learned something new.
Anyone know where I could find a one fingerd secretary 😂😂😂
That baby is older than me now 😂
Where did Roslyn get the suitcase and change of clothes? She had nothing when she came in and said she had no one to bring anything. That's why she wore a uniform even though she was on remand. Hmmmmmmmmm
I find the dual meaning of the nickname "Vinegar Tits" interesting. Old Vera earned it for being too harsh. NuVera pretty much got landed with it for being too soft. It's cool how it worked for both incarnations of the character despite the fact that their personalities are different.
Merilee S I thought the Wentworth Vera slid in the spilt vinegar...
The name kind of suited both of them. I love both Veras.
Anne Haddy (Neighbours +Sons and Daughters)appears in this episode.
I think Rosylin is being a bit naive to think she will be let off. I know she's young but I thought someone of her intelligence might know that she won't get away with it. I think she should get better legal advice.
Poor doreen,,, i feel so sorry for her... :(
so do i it is hard when you first get out
yeah i agree
I see Arsene Wenger makes perhaps his first appearance to see that beautiful Rosy 🌹
With Doreen in the half way house they should call it the half wit house!
Slightly cruel but 😄
I'm surprised Vera didn't say that at some point!
That Roz has got a lovely singing voice!
+3032l surprised she didn't have a singing career, I mean its not like a person in a soap doesn't then go on to have a singing career, I mean that has NEVER been done as it !
When Roz was singing I thought at first it was Rosie singing to her baby Sam. Wow, Roz sings beautifully.
The writers were spot on with this episode. I can smell a certain scent and it will take me right back to my childhood. That is one sure way of remembering something. Life is prison is a little harsh for Roz.
Not as harsh as having to share a cell with Pat O'Connell and her maternal obsession.
Anne Haddy, who plays Doreen's mom, well her real life husband James Condon was in Prisoner too in later episodes. He also had a short stint in. Neighbors. Anne Haddy was sick all throughout her life with different conditions.
Don't be impertinent! ha ha ha!
Anne Haddy makes a guest appearance in this episode. She was Rosie inS+D and of course Helen Daniels in Neighbours.
so i guess jean's on annual leave again!!
OMG . Its made me cry AGAIN 😢
Just goes to show how provocative the sense of smell is.
Do you mean evocative? Calling forth memories and emotions.
yeah, Vera was on top form in this one, a couple of classic scenes; she can be so nasty and in so few words.
Are my eyes deceiving me, the front door in relation to the walls and window look a bit off 10:45 &18:45
What Vera did to Rosie was disgusting telling her that if she td them the truth she wud lose her baby she really is evil 😈
You can’t but love bea ❤️
Harris's Criminal Law book written by Seymour Frederick Harris, Anthony Hooper
Sweet & Maxwell, 1968 - Criminal law - 839 pages
Doctor Miller didn't waste any time getting over Meg moving on to another woman he used meg
Meg Morris will find her next victim, sorry boyfriend, before long
LOL helen daniels
Thanks for that, I couldn’t remember that characters name 👍
46:18 - Poor Helen Daniels!!! :'(:'(:'(
Poor lonely, angry, frustrated Vera.
No visible boom microphones this time, makes a change...and why is the desk calender on the doctor's desk always on 3.
Where is she taking her...I totally forgot till riiiiiight now....thaaaat I dont wanna give it away . Lol
They always talk about what a great governor Erica is how liberal and sympathetic she is, blah blah blah. I'll never understand Meg's constant brown-nosing when it comes to Erica as if she's any good at the job when she's really not.
Erica is just as bad as Vera, in some instances.
Am I the only person wondering where the fuck has Meg been??? She's been none existent for at least three episodes and suddenly pops up again near the end of this one with nothing being explained about her absence. Also, what happened to Jean??
That's why she's called "Meggy-pops"...
She was in the last episode.
-The convent girl might be better taking legal advice from, say, a lawyer, rather than the prison governor?
I thought the dress Doreen had on was lovely.Martha disappeared pretty quickly didn't she?
7:05 when Roz says she had to kill mcnelly because the law didn’t punish her it reminded me of a show called arrow about a vigilante. ua-cam.com/video/TdTK38tvyLU/v-deo.html

I hate to LOL but rosie thought she outsmarted the doctors when she could have stated what she really felt and kept Sammy.
jennifer johnson Either way, they would have taken the kid away. The doctor's report might not have helped. If it did, there are ways to maintain the status quo.
Dr Miller & his sedatives 😂
I love Doreen she is so sweet
The laws is about justice, that's a joke.
Bye bye rotary phone😂😂😂
Ros is delusional if she thinks she's getting off
i dont understand why Meg let Ros leave the prison for her court case with her suitcase. no prisoner leaves for court with anything. even IF they are let off their stuff tis sent to them
Where has Meg even been is the bigger question, she's been gone for like three episodes which is about equivalent to a month in the world of Wentworth. She vanished with no storyline to it unless I've missed something? Doreen realised Alice was her mother through the smell of the perfume as Alice used it herself. But doesn't perfume smell differently on each woman because of body differences?
Doreen was smelly her arse
It didn't have much time to set on the skin. I'd imagine that the smell was similar enough someone would be able to know in real life.
Doreen had mentioned many times how her mother smelled nice, fresh flowery etc. The writers wrote that in early on so they knew when to insert into this show at the right time. I knew that was going to shake Doreen when I saw her spray it on.
No it would have instantly smelled the same, memories are linked to smell and sounds
Minimal difference if any, the bulk of the scent stays the same.... Probably a fib the perfume makers tell women
life imprisonment?! I knew she should've pleaded insanity! damnit!
I think maybe if Vera had another man slightly interested in her, she might be a little nicer. In the past episodes when Vera was getting male attention she wasn't such a twat
Animals, the lot of you....
Very well. That will be all.
You'll do as you're told.
Come Watch Collie MOOVE. (Vera)
We are all animals by nature, Miss Bennett.
Brilliant episode.
Motherhood drivel, it's disgusting!!! Classic Vera!
I agree, thank you 😊
That Rosie is an appalling actress and this storyline is boring the liver out of me.
Let's hope it did its job.
Ros is too much of an idealist for her own good. Theoretically, I can see where she is coming from, but in practice the consequences she is now facing surely cannot have made committing the murder worthwhile. I like the character a lot though and she is played by a good actress.
Jack Spratt That's right. It appeared that Ros foolishly allowed her heart to rule her head and opted to put executing her own justice ahead of her long term freedom. Not a very well calculated move by any stretch of the imagination.
That's Sigrid Thorton and she is in Wentworth, the remake of Prisoner. I love her, she is one of the most respected Aussie actors.
Rosslyn getting off would be like Bea, thinking she would get off, for murdering her husband. Bea knew she was coming back. Maybe Bea should have pointed that out.
Oh yeah, good luck little girl. You'll be back.
Nice dress Doreen is wearing tho very 70s, will be out of fashion within the year lol.
Maybe the babies in this series. Will apply for acting jobs in the Wentworth remake.😅 Maybe a future Bea Smith or Frankie.
I reckon that baby must be the noisiest 'actor baby' ever, I mean all he ever does is cry, I know babies cry but surely not this much, I mean out of all the babies that age, surely they could have found one that didn't cry as much. Obviously didn't like be 'on the inside'.
Adele Steele OMG yes
worlds shortest murder trial, back within an hour. The peace and quiet getting rid of that kid.
Wow thats an all time low for Vera ,telling her to say she isnt suicidal 😢
They give Pat an awful lot to do and roaming around whenever she likes privileges for a prisoner
Her dragging her feet, when walking, so annoying
