      @@karennicholls8532 no she wasn't pregnant. Her son who was about 1 was showing signs of disability in a time when disability had so much less support and she needed to nurse him as she was a single parent.
      He had pretty bad health problems and she said it's why she has to be selective in the work she takes {not signing up to long term roles} as he needs her.

    Bill Hunter, Vera's love interest George Lucas was married to Pat Bishop, the actress who played Toni McNally.
    A further bit of trivia, when Pat Bishop died, Fiona Spence (Vera) and her long term partner Prisoner writer Denise Morgan took on Pat's daughter who went to live with them.

      bunnyjadeboo tait. Oh that's new to me. Watching the series for the third time. Twice in the early 90's on Swedish TV4. I read alot from UK watched it too. When the TV4 was analog and unencrypted. Then they showed it from the begining to episode 540 i think. They said they didn't have more rights! But then next week that month. August i guess. they started the whole show over. And it looks like they will go all the way. Now at episode 477.ep. 61/season 6
      Myself have some catch up to do. have som recorded on my digibox. those who are missing i catch them up here on youtube! Great. 😀

    I honestly think Monnie was way stronger as a side character/second in command to Bea than Judy ever was. It's a pity she had to leave. Great character

    • @markxxx21
      @markxxx21 6 років тому +5

      I disagree, Bea was afraid of Judy, over time Judy turned into a wuss, but Judy was the only character ever to successfully stand up to Bea. Monnie was very boring, she was a good comic, but even that was limited. See how fast Noelene upstaged Monnie in the comedy dept.

    The show was initially suppose to be a series of the first 16 episodes once a week. But obviously changes were made to thoes scripts when it was decided the show would continue as two episodes a week and Carol Burns wanted to leave.
    Monica and Jean were the two characters introduced in shows 15 and 16 that became part of the main cast for two stints as part of the 1st year of Prisoner. But gone in quick succession.

      @Heather Elliott She lost her only daughter in 1952 This aged her. I have abook about her life that was written by her daughter in law. Sheila was a very pretty baby, child and young woman. She told people she also lost a baby girl in the London Blitz. But her oldest son was too young to remember a baby sister and they could find no records about a Bridget, daughter of Sheila and her husband being killed by a bomb. Sheila moved to England after marrying her first husband. He was killed in WWII. They had three children. Her husband was killed in the war and Sheila remarried.When the family moved back home to Australia, Sheila got off the airplane, fell to the ground and kissed the dirt and sobbed "I'll never leave you again!" Talking about her native home. Her daughter supposedly jumped to her death from a rooftop. Sheila mourned her death until her own death. It turned out her daughter's fiancee pushed her off the roof. That's what aged Sheila. Plus she was raising her grandson at the time of Prisoner and cared for her cancer stricken husband later on, she developed cancer from all of those cigarettes and the strain from her daughters death and sick husband made her health decline. She was one of the most beloved cast members they had. Fiona Spence came to her bedside after driving from Sydney to Melbourne sobbing all the way. She died two days after Fiona's birthday, October 12, 1991.

    I like Erica when she takes a stand. I don't like Erica when she cancels Karen's university or throws Bea in the pound without evidence. However, when she stands up against big crime thugs that the department sucks up to. She's great. Erica was the only one to successfully fire the Freak. Keep watching for that drama. I don't want to say too much.

      Actually, I read a comment from a couple of episodes back. They said that they hated Lizzie. REALLY? How can anyone hate Lizzie? Frankly, she is the glue that has kept this show intact. Sheila F. was simply amazing in the role of Lizzie. She was hilarious, even in the tense moments. She was the mother for all the prisoners, young and old. There were so many Lizzie personalities, and she played them all with aces up her sleeve. The best one though was the drunk, singing-at-the-top-of-her-lungs-in-the-middle-of-the-night Lizzie. You know the one I'm talking about. The "She pinched me grog!" Lizzie. Loved her, God bless her soul. And she played it all while suffering from lung cancer. What a trooper Sheila F. was.
