I never see Lunatite in play, but i see lots of decks using Heavy Mech Support Platform, mostly when cyber dragon was released, a 2600 cyber dragon with destruction protection was great and also it can survive using limiter removal.
Lunatite was meant to be special summoned with Mother Grizzly, or at least single tribute summoned when A Legendary Ocean was on the field. Roll Out! could also be used to special summon it from the graveyard and equip it to a monster on your side of the filed.
1 thing about Pentachloro: It has seen play in some Vylon builds but not because it's a union monster. It was all because it's a Lv 4 Machine with 500 ATK making it a valid Machine Duplication target, granting the deck easy access to Shock Master, at least at the time.
Found you through your wow channel years ago, still crazy to me that this channel is more popular and that you have a dnd one. Love the 1 hour just talking videos
Wrong channel to ask but same hiru, do you plan to ever bring back “Q and A” videos? You normally just talked but even to this day I can still remember things you’ve mentioned about your life lmao
After all these years, I finally realized Decayed Commander is in Zombie Tiger's art now while seeing them together. I always thought it was some kind of gun on Zombie Tiger's back
@TheDuelLogs, just a suggestion. Given that Master Duel puts up different banlists usually once a month, would it be fine for you to make an explanation for their banlist changes?
Heavy mech platform and Vylon Pentachloro at least have the advantage of being Machine Duplication targets, and in platform's case since it has updated text you can actually equip multiple copies to one monster
There are three changes I think would make Unions better, being able to be equipped from the hand, granting their effects regardless of how they're equipped, and being able to equip multiple to the same monster. I don't think they'd be good per se, but they'd be better than they are now
I figure you don’t consider suggestions probably, but had a thought - 5/10 banned cards that can be safely unbanned/unlimited? I know you went over if every card could be unbanned, but condensing it into one based on that would be interesting.
I used that heavy mech card in a really weird machine Dark armed dragon deck back in the day lol. It wasn’t very good tbh but I just needed a lvl 3 dark machine card in there for a specific combo.
Pentachloro Penta Chloro. Five Chlorine Atoms in a compound. The Japanese name "Pentachro" makes more sense in the context of the archetype as geometric shapes: referring to a Pentachoron, which the monster somewhat resembles.
I mean, 22000 ATK might be enough to make the card playable, but that's only a "might". It's a high enough statline to beat over almost anything, but it doesn't do anything other than be a beatstick with absolutely no protection outside of battle.
@@StevetheWizard2591 It is kinda funny how YuGiOh's power creep is to the level that you could have a card with literally infinite attack and it would just be an okay card if that was the only thing it had going for it.
Yeah, if it was searchable or easily cheated out of the deck, an infinite attack monster would see play. But it would still just be kinda mid. Meanwhile, I don't think an infinite defense monster could EVER see play.
Idea for some Union monster support: _Union of Unions_ Quickplay Spell _If a monster you control is removed from the field by an opponent’s card or effect: Add to your hand (from your deck or GY) or Special Summon (from your hand, deck or GY) as many Union monsters as possible, who’s combined total ATK/DEF is equal to or less than the total ATK/DEF of the removed monster. While this card is in your GY: You can banish it; Apply 1 of the following effects:_ ⚪️The next time a Union monster from your hand or field is sent to the GY, add 1 Equip Spell or card that mentions “Union” in it’s name or text to your hand from your deck or GY. ⚪️Fusion summon 1 Fusion monster from your extra deck, using Union monsters from your hand or field as material.
I really hope we do get more union support in the future. Love the concept of it when they first came out especially Dark Blade and I believe with some support and improved or new effects they could be great.
I'm guessing "the next time" is meant to suggest that you banish the card, then have a permanent floating effect, but I could see that being a little confusing. BOth you and your opponent would need to keep track of that, and it would get a little more confusing if, say, two got banished and you wanted to stack that effect. It might be better to make that first bullet an "if, then you can banish" effect, and then the second bullet a "You can banish then, this" Sorry if this is a nitpicking response.
@@ShyRanger Ok, let me redo the GY effects then: _Union of Unions_ Quickplay Spell _If a monster you control is removed from the field by an opponent’s card or effect: Add to your hand (from your deck or GY) or Special Summon (from your hand, deck or GY) as many Union monsters as possible, who’s combined total ATK/DEF is equal to or less than the total ATK/DEF of the removed monster. I've literally never touched a yugioh card in my life and I've never seen the anime series. But somehow I just find myself watching your videos because they're really interesting keep it up!
lunatite can be brought out with mother grizzly. If it survives, which it should if you run all 3 mother grizzly cards and your opponent doesnt have a main phase 2 play, and you bring out a beefy water monster like mobius, you can equip lunatite to protect your beefy monster from so many staple spells. Field wipes like raigeki, lightning vortex and dark hole, single destruction cards like hammer shot and fissure, as well as steal cards like snatch steal, brain control and change of heart. Im not saying it is amazing, but in goat and some earlier formats, water has some good playability with salvage and legendary ocean as support cards, mobius is fantastic, and there were a decent number of good water monsters, like aqua dolphin, abyss soldier and even yomi ship as a card you can bring out with mother grizzly too. Running 1 copy of lunatite isnt that bad in a deck like that and can actually be useful if you get the combo off. Even if you garnet draw it, you can still use it as fodder for abyss soldier and you can recycle it from the GY with pot of avarice. Also, if you are running legendary ocean, the card only needs 1 tribute, not that you would summon it this way anyway. Again, not saying this makes the card good. Especially in modern context. But i dont think it should be this low on the list, or at all honestly.
Future video idea, top 10 spells/traps that mention a specific in order for it to be used. I.E any of the support cards that can be used when red archfiend dragon is in play.
0:14 Idea to improve Zombie Tiger: _Zombie Tiger Steed_ (EARTH) Level 3 Zombie/Union/Effect Once per turn, you can either: Target 1 face-up monster you control; equip this card to that target, OR: Unequip this card and Special Summon it. If the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, destroy this card instead. While equipped by this effect, the equipped monster gains ATK/DEF equal to this card’s own. If the equipped monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle: Apply 1 of the following effects:_ ⚪️Discard 1 random card from their hand. ⚪️Special summon 1 level 4 or lower Zombie or Union monster. ATK/1400 DEF/1600
Did anyone notice the that the text DuelLogs put in for Giant Orc lists its attack at 22,000, and not 2200? At 22,000 it would actually be worthwhile playing
The ruling for Union monsters needing to be equipped by their own effects to grant their boosts is only true for older Unions that explicitly say they have to be (such as Koitsu). Newer Unions can be equipped by effects such as Unauthorized Reactivation or Roll Out! without having this issue. Also, huge shame you didn't go over the actual biggest reason why the Vylon Unions suck. Since they have synergy with Union Hangar and Unauthorized Reactivation, you should theoretically be able to summon one, equip Union Driver to it with either Spell, and use Driver to equip and special out a second Vylon Union monster, but since the Vylons have the old Union ruling text of "A monster can only be equipped with 1 Union Monster at a time", you can't legally activate Driver to equip either of them since Driver is already your 1 equipped Union in this case. tl;dr konami plz reprint the vylon unions

How about taking a look at a type of monster first shown in the GX series, and then revamped in the ARC V series, which is the Ancient Gear monsters? Some very nasty monsters in that archtype!
I actually like the freezing and burning beast mechanic, I bet you could make a version of that that actually worked. Could be a fun archetypal gimmick
Unions are a pretty cool gimmick. Pity Konami avoids replacing with retrains, like a "Super Roll Out!!" or something. They would be awesome in Rush ngl.
I was a kid that only got cards by pulling packs and trades during the time that most of these cards came out. I tried to make most of these work especially the dark blade stuff.
Fusion is unexpected... But lvl resist wall kinda works similar, only way too slower and negating the effects Still, solid card, maybe the name could be "Lingering unions" as twice the same word doesn't sound like s Konami's card
Heavy Mech Platform besides the buff and destruction substitute, it can be Machine Duplicated giving the options to equip or use them as materials for Link, Xyz, etc.
I made a fun deck of the paper plane guys. With them being fairies, playing Athena, Valhala, and Hecatrice, and Celestial Transformation makes them easy to play. Also Tethis
With how easy now a days it is to Special Summon monsters, you can easily get both Lumantite & Solite. Also if you use these 2 in Paleozoic Deck (who if summoned to act as mon. & are naturally immune to monster effects), you can use Lumantite to protect them from spells, and Solite can protect them if their own effects are negated and need another way to be unaffected by mon. Effects.
You could back in the day as well. Set a Mother Grizzly & use its battle destruction effect to summon Lunatite from deck. Then summon your offensive monster (such as a Terrorking Salmon under A Legendary Ocean) & equip it. On follow up turns, while Lunatite is in grave, you can use Salvage to add it back to hand for discard fodder OR for Big Wave Small Wave (destroy your WATER monsters on field to replace them with WATERs from hand, no level requirements). So really, even back on release, Lunatite was very easy to bring out for dedicated water decks. The issue was mainly that there were usually better waters to pivot into with Grizzly like Yomi Ship or Treeborn Frog (during GX formats), and Big Wave Small Wave was best used to bring out Levia-Dragon Daedalus for a board nuke.
I really like Dark Blade archetype, just aesthetically a cool design.

I always thought it was some kind of gun on Zombie Tiger's back
Always love to see a DuelLogs video after a long day of work.
@TheDuelLogs, just a suggestion. Given that Master Duel puts up different banlists usually once a month, would it be fine for you to make an explanation for their banlist changes?
Glad Dark bBade finally made it to your videos i just love the artwork of those cards.
Heavy mech platform and Vylon Pentachloro at least have the advantage of being Machine Duplication targets, and in platform's case since it has updated text you can actually equip multiple copies to one monster
Are we not bringing up that he forgot to mention Koitsu gives a piercing effect in addition to the 3000 bonus? Probably doesn't mean much but still...
I love it when you show what other insane cards came out in the same set of these worst tyoe cards
Giant orc has a beefy 22,000 atk...for a lvl4 monster.
Fun Fact: Koitsu actually was errata'd! The first print actually increased ATK/DEF whereas the updated only increases ATK.
I love the “Worst 10” videos, because they’re full of card that can be bought in the shop in Duel Links
My! Someone is adding more jokes to their "Top 10 Worst" videos, and I _like_ it! I look forward the next ten cards that get roasted!
I used that heavy mech card in a really weird machine Dark armed dragon deck back in the day lol. It wasn’t very good tbh but I just needed a lvl 3 dark machine card in there for a specific combo.
Giant Orc's 22,000 ATK is nothing to scoff at, thank you very much
Pentachloro
Penta Chloro.
Five Chlorine Atoms in a compound.
The Japanese name "Pentachro" makes more sense in the context of the archetype as geometric shapes: referring to a Pentachoron, which the monster somewhat resembles.
Dang, Giant Orc goin crazy with that 22,000 ATK stat. 4:32
I remember using lunatite in a goat umi deck to equip to a suijin and summon it with mother bear
Idea for some Union monster support:
_Union of Unions_
Quickplay Spell
_If a monster you control is removed from the field by an opponent’s card or effect: Add to your hand (from your deck or GY) or Special Summon (from your hand, deck or GY) as many Union monsters as possible, who’s combined total ATK/DEF is equal to or less than the total ATK/DEF of the removed monster. While this card is in your GY: You can banish it; Apply 1 of the following effects:_
⚪️The next time a Union monster from your hand or field is sent to the GY, add 1 Equip Spell or card that mentions “Union” in it’s name or text to your hand from your deck or GY.
It might be better to make that first bullet an "if, then you can banish" effect, and then the second bullet a "You can banish then, this"
Sorry if this is a nitpicking response.
@@ShyRanger
Ok, let me redo the GY effects then:
_Union of Unions_
Quickplay Spell
_If a monster you control is removed from the field by an opponent’s card or effect: Add to your hand (from your deck or GY) or Special Summon (from your hand, deck or GY) as many Union monsters as possible, who’s combined total ATK/DEF is equal to or less than the total ATK/DEF of the removed monster. While this card is in your GY: You can Apply 1 of the following effects:_
⚪️If a Union monster from your hand or field is sent to the GY, You can banish this card to add 1 Equip Spell or card that mentions “Union” in it’s name or text to your hand from your deck or GY.
⚪️You can shuffle this card into your deck: Fusion summon 1 Fusion monster from your extra deck, using Union monsters from your hand or field as material.
I love that the first monster on the list was also my first union monster.
A dark blade/Dai grepher archetype retrain would be so cool with different union dragons equipping to the warriors and fusing with them
I've literally never touched a yugioh card in my life and I've never seen the anime series.
4:32 That orc has a lot of ATK alright.
As a Dark Blade fan, I feel so satisfied to be present in that video... please, a video about his whole story! hahahahahha
Future video idea, top 10 spells/traps that mention a specific in order for it to be used. I.E any of the support cards that can be used when red archfiend dragon is in play.
I love Union monsters as a concept, so I love videos on them, good or bad. ❤️
I wanna see an Aitsu archetype damn it
Heavy Mech Support Platform is my favorite old card. Made Unions one of my favorite monster types
Decayed Commander archetype when, cuz that Discard effect is intriguing
Wake up, babe. New list of awful YGO cards just dropped.
Honestly they just need to print a union tsu monster that when equipped with all the other pieces just wins you the match automatically
I love the typo on Giant Orc saying that it has 22,000 attack.
4:42 ah yes 22000 attack.
0:14 Idea to improve Zombie Tiger:
_Zombie Tiger Steed_ (EARTH)
Level 3
Zombie/Union/Effect
Once per turn, you can either: Target 1 face-up monster you control; equip this card to that target, OR: Unequip this card and Special Summon it. If the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, destroy this card instead. While equipped by this effect, the equipped monster gains ATK/DEF equal to this card’s own. If the equipped monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle: Apply 1 of the following effects:_
⚪️Discard 1 random card from their hand.
⚪️Special summon 1 level 4 or lower Zombie or Union monster.
ATK/1400 DEF/1600
Great video dude!
Can't remember if you've done it or not but would love to see top ten worst flip monsters
Did anyone notice the that the text DuelLogs put in for Giant Orc lists its attack at 22,000, and not 2200?
At 22,000 it would actually be worthwhile playing
Man giant orc if the beef 22000 atk on minute 4:40. Thats the real goat
Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow is searchable with Raptor Wing Strike. It also puts away the Blackwing you control so you can Summon Gofu.
Would be interesting to see worst Top 10s of some of the concepts from Failed Mechanics.
Like Top 10 worst Gemini monsters
Top 10 worst Spirit monsters
Or Top 10 worst cards that mill.
How about just the top 10 failed mechanics
@@tatoba5066 You know what, that would be fun to watch, it would be like the mechanic that flopped the hardest! Good idea!
Nothing pushes me to zzz land like union content. 🎉
Since you also do pokemon content here's a lis I'm working on but I want to say how yours would be. That being: 10 Moves from the Pokemon TCG that you would like to see in the Video Games or Anime.
I like watching your "worst cards" and "best cards" list. Ever think of making a list of "best of the worst cards", like the list of best union cards or best gemini cards and stuffs?
How about taking a look at a type of monster first shown in the GX series, and then revamped in the ARC V series, which is the Ancient Gear monsters? Some very nasty monsters in that archtype!
This brinks back memories I loved dark blade as a kid, not very strong tho
In terms of aesthetics, I've always loved Pitch-Dark Dragon's artwork. Definitely my favorite card in that respect.
Uuuuh perfect timing, here I am and here you are sir DuelLogs
4:35 has a very unique 22,000 ATK...lol
I actually like the freezing and burning beast mechanic, I bet you could make a version of that that actually worked. Could be a fun archetypal gimmick
Unions are a pretty cool gimmick. Pity Konami avoids replacing with retrains, like a "Super Roll Out!!" or something.
They would be awesome in Rush ngl.
I was a kid that only got cards by pulling packs and trades during the time that most of these cards came out. I tried to make most of these work especially the dark blade stuff.
I was gonna say I used to love how iconic Union monsters are, then you went to Number 1 ... XD
Hey now A Legendary Ocean makes those parasites only ONE tribute so they're not THAT bad.
Fusion is unexpected... But lvl resist wall kinda works similar, only way too slower and negating the effects
Still, solid card, maybe the name could be "Lingering unions" as twice the same word doesn't sound like s Konami's card
Level resist wall has three card combo that wins you the game. None of this cards do anything close to that.
I remember getting Koitsu and Aitsu several times as a kid and being so sick of them after the third time
How hard was it to not say “all of them”?
I was WAITING for #1
4:40 I never knew Giant Orc was so strong. Konami going crazy with that 22,000 ATK 😂
Top ten fun to play archetypes.
Used to play freezing beast and dark blade all the time. Never knew about the affects cause well i was playing backyard yugioh
Heavy Mech Platform besides the buff and destruction substitute, it can be Machine Duplicated giving the options to equip or use them as materials for Link, Xyz, etc.
I once saw Heavy mech support plartform as a small world bridge in a blackwing deck
I made a fun deck of the paper plane guys. With them being fairies, playing Athena, Valhala, and Hecatrice, and Celestial Transformation makes them easy to play. Also Tethis
idea for future video, top 10 level 1 monsters with an effect when sent to the graveyard (in other words, cards you want to use to summon linkuriboh)
Metalizing parasite lunatite was so wordy back in the day
Do a video
Top 10 Strongest Common Cards
Counting down the strongest cards that were ORIGINALLY PRINTED as a common
they should adding more support for union monster like they can equip directly from your hand or GY
4:30 dat typo lol
if only giant orc have that much atk, second goblin may not sounds that bad, maybe
I remember these, back when I started to play
