This video has brought me a lot of nostalgia. I grew up with Arthas, with Warcraft 3 and it is one of the games that I have liked to play the most (and I still like). Arthas and Jaina deserve to see each other one last time to close the wounds that could not be closed, a hug, a kiss, something that allows them both to live in peace with their demons. The last few days I've been watching the final cinematic of Starcraft II Heart of the Swarm, and I think it's a scene that could serve to end Shadowlands: Arthas and Jaina say goodbye each other and Jaina flies back to Azeroth as Arthas watches her. I know, it seems silly, but I think it would be great.
Personally I feel Jaina should've been one of the MAIN characters to be there at the final encounter in ICC. Or at least she should've been there in the ending cinematic to hold Arthas (the REAL Arthas) as he was breathing his last. Would've made for a very emotional scene and bring SOME closure to their love. Overall, Arthas reamains one of the most beloved characters and faces of the Warcraft franchise. Even years later, I still believe an Arthas movie CAN be successful if done right. More emphasis on the story, and less on RTS elements like they did in the first movie. It has to appeal to an audience OUTSIDE of the game first while paying respect to the game audience at the same time. And Arthas' story has a wider appeal on the big screen for those unfamiliar with the franchise, instead of Orcs and humans attacking garrisons.
Yeah, but when was it exactly that Jaina was retconned into loving Arthas? In the WC3 I played they were friendly, but his arrogance annoyed her, there was no romance there.

@@jcspoon573 I think it was the wickerman festival, where arthas asked jaina to marry him, they slept together and all the good stuff, later arthas freaked out and called off the wedding. They were apart after that, and then came WC3 where they tried to rekindle their relationship, until the stratholme event.
I am not sure of the details anymore, but the story was something like that.
@@kelerhtz Right, but how long AFTER WC3 was that written? Meaning in real time, not storyline. And as far as rekindle? He made passes, and she rebuffed him, not as a scorned woman, but as someone who doesn't even consider him a possibility due to his, uh ... lack of conversational skill (brains, he's stupid compared to her, there, I said it).
It ... does not fit that "Arthas freaked out" (though I believe you that is what was written) and then continues to be Prince Fratboy with Jaina in the RTS.
Seems like just another awkward Blizzard hand wave to introduce a drama that was not needed.

Well technically it's half of Uther's soul in Icecrown and the other "vengeful" half that went to Bastion. Story's gotten weird but yeah.

@@matix1256 Remember Uther had his soul torn in half, one inside the sword forgiving him, on in Bastion condeming him. One would assume the sword locked part is now trapped in the maw, and in need of being united with Bluthor.
Makes sense if Frostmourne split Uther's soul

They are not one however. One that throws Arthas is vengence part of the Uther which goes to Bastion. But one who gets stuck at the blade is one who forgives Arthas because he knows how much of his actions led Arthas to claim Frostmourne by seeign what he sees learning by being stuck inside of Frostmourne.
Hopefully they merge at some point.
(also that is what happens to everyone who dies by the Frostmourne, it rends souls apart.)

@@onatyungul872 I think it was one time thing because of Light interference to claim his soul instead of Frostmorne, but it got broke into two parts. Or if it's not one time, it may occur ONLY to Paladins and Priests, people who connected to Light. At least we only have this much evidence, but not like it occur with every soul.
@@PrasadOfRA Every soul is torn apart by the blade. The light is not related to bastion or the shaowlands. If it were to claim Uther it wouldn't send it off.

Light tried to pull it from Frostmourne so it couldn't claim it, but only could do it partly, and after this it was taken by kirians, then Arbiter send it to Bastion (we know it was working like this before Arbiter was put to coma by something).
Its ironic that Jaina wished for Arthas to rest being free from the LK, how would she react knowing that Uther denied him his freedom by hijacking him to the Maw, right back into the Jailers hands.

They established Warcraft. I remember back in the days of Warcraft 1 and 2.
Those games were small scale in comparison. But mostly because you never fell in love with any of the characters. But Illidan and Arthas. Not even the most evil acts can make them hated. Because anyone whose played Warcraft 3 know they started with the best of intentions and the worst of circumstances. They're not blameless. But they each did all they could for their people. Giving everything until they had nothing left, only to be cast aside because they became monsters in the process.

Same man, if it’s one thing that blizzard mastered is these characters. Their mission was so grand to use because both had sacrificed everything to do what they believed was right. They sacrificed their hearts for power, they left their loved ones, and become monsters. That duel they had was the most memorable because the characters were facing equals.

One of the most beloved characters and faces of the Warcraft franchise. Even years later, I still believe an Arthas movie CAN be successful if done right. It has to appeal to an audience OUTSIDE of the game first while paying respect to the game audience at the same time. And a trilogy would work. First with Arthas growing up in Lordaeron ending with finding frostmourne and returning home to slay Terenas. Second would be his campaign over Lordaeron spreading undeath, Battle of Silvermoon, etc. Third could be Wrath or they can culminate with his ascension to the Frozen Throne in Warcraft 3 although the story would be spread a bit thin like the Hobbit.
@@kyvanrae Arthas wasn't stupid. Arrogant and naive surely, but he knew along every step of the way the risks he was taking for the sake of his kingdom. He gave everything for the survival of his people, and in the end, the tragedy was that he was unable to resist turning to evil and becoming Lordaeron's downfall. Literally not boring at all. Even after Arthas became evil, he was a character beyond Frostmourne and the Lich King, example being when Kael'thas confronted him in Icecrown with Felo'melorn, Arthas tried to taunt Kael'thas using his jealousy over Jaina, and it blew up in his face when Kael'thas told Arthas that Jaina hated what he became.
@@Athelarius Yes, exacly! That's why I got excited by the Warcraft movie to begin with, cause I thought, finally we can have a Arthas movie. His story isn't perfectly told in Wc3 but you can se that the elements of an amazing story is there. Like you said, show some of his backstory growing up and show some of the struggles with him getting possessed and it would be amazing. I actually don't even think it would be spread thin, in Wc3 it moves almost too fast, we never see Uther and Arthas having a bond, imagine how powerful their fight would be if we saw them as brothers an entire movie. Damn now I got too excited by the thought of an Arthas movie again.

Hiya Folks! We’re going on a feels trip today. We free Jaina, Thrall & the WoW Breakfast Club reunites. Later we get another tease on Arthas, Jailer & the Maw.
Weirdly enough this video ended up as a tribute to one of my most beloved characters of the franchise ever. An Arthas Movie CAN work. It just has to done right and would put Warcraft back up where it belongs.
The only thing we like better than Arthas is Arthas AND Jaina. She should’ve joined the Purge of Stratholme then ascended to Frozen Throne as the Lich Queen in Wrath with Arthas. Gets pretty lonely up there y’know. And cold.
Memes aside, If this was an anime, the flashback would’ve been 22 min long.

There were a lot of decisions we make and regret truth be told I still enjoy this game no matter what past or not
There should be a cutscene or cinematic where Jaina and Tyrande argue over the actions of the Horde.
Fun fact: There indeed is an alternate reality where this happens, but Jaina in the end kills Arthas and takes the throne, as there can be only one Lich King. But I can't wait for this storyline to progress furthermore, as Jaina is in the Shadowlands for a reason. They wouldn't bring her into this expansion just to sit and do almost nothing. Eventually,I think Jaina and Arthas will reunite. The only question is where, how, under which circumstances and perhaps even why. I truly hope this happens.

they should have made a warcraft movie with the story of arthas...i don't understand how did they not see that, when they made the warcraft movie omfg....it's fucking stupid...the majority of the wow players who are into the warcraft lore are in love with Arthas and his story, even new people starting in with the lore would have loved it more...heck i haven't touch wow in 5 years now, yet i still want to know bits of story from the young prince of the alliance

After playing shadowlands , I really think that Arthas should be in revendreth to atone for his sins just like Kel'thalas they both did everything to save their people
He was probobably supposed to be. He was cast into the maw by Uther and Devos regardless of what the Arbiter judged for him.
He had been the vessel of the Jailer, he goes to the maw.

We storm Nathria & never see Garrosh. Is he still in the basement being milked? Or was he cast in the Maw by Denathrius much earlier in time before we reach Nathria. Strange how we find Kael'thas and others but no Papa Garrosh.
@@Athelarius Not even his dad Grommash either. That kind of reunion between him and Thrall is something I would have looked forward to, but considering the Jailor's array of minions... maybe it didn't leave them recognizable.
@@Athelarius I could be wrong, but Garrosh sold his soul to the old ones, at least how I see it, yet to see any other characters that was an old one servant...

@@Anschlagen The Revendreth Afterlives video shows an Orc soul being tortured to produce more Anima. The Orc soul strongly resembles Garrosh. Kael’thas was also tortured to produce more Anima. We found him, so I wonder why we haven’t found Garrosh yet.

so one part of Uther remembers Arthas's life and how "he's just a merely presence within Lich King's mind" and their time together but then his ghost is remembering how and then proceeds to throw him into Maw....Uther got some issues
Uther is a lawful being, the Arbiter judged Arthas should go to the maw, and to the maw he went.

Uther‘s soul was cleft in two when he was struck down by Frostmourne. A part of him was trapped in the blade and the remaining part of his soul went to Bastion.
Would be cool if Arthas actually conquered the Maw, and either used it for his own gains or purified it to lead it against the burning legion
I think that may be the endgame. We slay the Jailer and Arthas does what Bolvar did and puts himself in his place to maintain order.

The end game here is this:
They make these cinematics mentioning Arthas but never showing him ingame, build a boring war between good/bads the same thing we see every expansion to make some hours of play and lore, then when it's almost over they make him make the ultimate sacrifice to control de Scourge... again because "there must always be a Lich King" and that sh*t and becomes the character we all love the most once again, courtain............

He may not have held a grudge, but for the sake of the innocents Arthas killed, Uther knew the boy had to pay. Sad sad.
Pretty sure that was the message.
But is he accountable though? This isn't an AnakinVader situation, Arthas didn't have his soul in him while he was a death knight, blaming the body is one thing but Uther condemned his soul...who just got back to its body after 5 years.

@@JRBDWD I know right? Most of the WoW players must've never played WC3 to know that he truly is a cunning and treacherous slime who tends to switch allegiance a ton for his personal gain. He's not a true hero in my books, but I do like his character until he became a hero all of a sudden

Well technically they could work with Illidan and say he was knocked unconsious at the Black temple after the fight and imprisoned by Maiev and the Wardens. And honestly, after the way TBC's story went, Legion did a lot to help redeem. But as for Arthas, since he clearly died and whatnot, we're more on the side that UNLESS they can write it and execute it PERFECTLY, they should leave his story alone. Must be cautious with such characters.

How i wish both Arthas and Uther "redeemed" in this expansion.
The confusing part is Uther's soul is within the Frostmourne and the other one is in Bastion.Perhaps it's soul split into two when Arthas murdered him in Lordaeron for the urn.(King Terenas ashes).

What pisses me off the most, is that even back in WOTLK Uther admits that Arthas is a mere dwindling presence within The Lich King's mind; yet the writers still had him go off the deep end, and take 'revenge' on Arthas afterwards. smh
His actions before he donned the crown damned him. Heck his actions before he even took up Frostmourne were pretty bad.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe that blue Uther and Uther spirit from WOTLK are not the same, or they're somehow split. The Uther from WOTLK was stuck inside Frostmourne. Blue Uther was in Bastion. Could be that the Uther that got stuck in Frostmourne is his more forgiving half, while blue Uther has visible scars that make him more vengeful.
Not that Blizzard will ever explain any of this to confirm or deny this line of thinking, but y'know, the rest of us have to make sense of this SOMEHOW.
See what really needs to happen is that Tirion comes back and beats some light back into this Uther with like a celestial version of the Ashbringer
I so HATE that they're slowly rewriting arthas's story. Made him much more angry and proud than hes been in wc3 where he was just... desperate to save his kingdom.
Even in hearthstone he literally lashes out on jaina where as in wc3 he was pleading her not to leave him alone with this(culling of stratholme). Like uther was a lil bitch useless af and jaina left arthas when he most needed her.
It's easier to rewrite the narrative than to follow the source material
they have been retconing left and right in the last 10 years not just his story. Warcraft lore is a mess if you are looking for consistency.
Also notice Uther's monologue in ICC, after that he says he wants to keep Arthas' memory in his heart basically, he chose to come at peace. In shadowlands he is like "lol nope i just cast him to the maw because im still angry"
@@vegeta1885 In the lore actually Uther's soul is spilt in 2 one is still on Azeroth when its trapped in the blade and still is on Azeroth after it broke while another half went to shadowland the moment he died. Half came to peace when trapped in the blade when he realised Lich King isn't Arthas, another half went to shadowland bitter and not knowing the truth

Now that Jaina has been rescued, she can join the adventurer who has joined the Night Fae in saving Tyrande from the Night Warrior’s curse. And she’ll also be fighting the Drust invasion.
I believe if Devos didn't intervene that Arthus soul would've been sent to Ravendreft to atone for his sins before being sent to bastion. As for Uther, possibly since the souls split, perhaps his real place would've been in Ardenweald and not so much as maldraxxus. I mean, what would everyone's thoughts be with this concept because clearly devos was correct that Uther was sent to Bastion by mistake. Looking closely that he states he will keep close to his heart the memory of Arthas just like Darions dad. Bastion is for those who have burdens in their past lives, and the ascended Uther soul was the burdened one, while the Uther soul within frostmourne was not.
Nah, Uther belongs in Bastion. His entire life was lived in servitude of the light. If he had to go somewhere else, my first choice would be Maldraxxus, though. Ardenweald makes no sense whatsoever, Uther didn’t serve nature.
I put thousands of hours into WoW up until WOTLK. I saw Arthas die, and to me, that was the end of Warcraft. I grew out of it and stopped.
That being said, the story has always fascinated me and I still read the books to this day, though I haven't read many of the new ones. Is that Uther Lightbringer? Why is he like, an angel or w/e? What happened to him? He seems..kinda..the wrong side of being an Angel.
The horrors they endured were horrifyingly horrific. They will haunt their dreams, their _horrifying_ dreams, forever. Although they'll never be mentioned again.

My best guess is that... We will brake anduin free. The jailor let his eye fall on Arthas instead. And Arthas reclaimes his position as lichking being controlled by the jailor. But since Arthas no longer shares the helmet but inhabits it alone he will regain full self control this time and turn against the jailor.

I stopped playing WoW around the time Cataclysm came out, but I’ve been such a huge fan of Warcraft ever since I was little.
I started playing Warcraft 3 back around when I was like 5, and it was actually how I initially learned English.
I love watching your videos, seeing the bits and pieces they still try to throw in with Arthas, and how much more they actually state/show his and Jaina’s love (I do also need to finish the book written by Christie Golden).
I kinda feel like the perfect way to fully wrap up his character, his ‘new arc’, as well as Jaina’s, would be to, ironically I guess, have him, or rather his soul, show up for one final battle against whatever new big bad they introduce for that expansion.
Have Jaina there as well, give them a small moment, to give their honest feelings to each other (LET THEM TELL EACH OTHER HOW MUCH THEY LOVE ONE ANOTHER), and then let Arthas be the one to express his sorrow first as well as let him say his goodbyes first, allow Jaina to be hesitant at first to want to let him go, but not deny to let him go. Then show how far she’s come by allowing her to accept that this is it, letting her finally let go of Arthas, and say her final and emotionally heartfelt goodbye to her prince. Let Arthas know and acknowledge it, and maybe give his final words and let those be to Jaina, and as ‘cheesy’ as it may be, let it be real, and true, like “No matter what, Jaina, my love for you will never die… I will always be with you” now I am sucker for a good sendoff so I’d also love if he just gave her like a small kiss goodbye, before going in and making the ultimate sacrifice, defeating/destroying whatever big bad they’re facing, and/by destroying his own soul in the process.
Allowing his final act to pay the ultimate price for the ultimate deed.

Is it me or does this completely change how the afterlife in the stories was written? Where it was all darkness and suffering. Now thats gone and the shadowlands is broken into four covenants that require you to help them all to complete the story. This makes me wonder how ghosts conjured back from the afterlife is suppose to work now. Makes a lot of continuity errors.

nerzhul was already gone when bolvar took on the crown. he said that he could feel that there is someone in there aswell besides the dark voices but it was nearly gone and "dead". Nerzul wasnt a beloved character at all sadly and he has to stay away for the other "OGs" that are here in pooplands
