    Thanks for posting this video and showing the set up a take - I mainly fish rivers - just got into the "duo" method which is basically a scaled down version of this - also called "klink and dink" a dry klinkhammer with a tungsten bead nymph tied off the dry fly hook bend - has worked really well on the Derbyshire Derwent so far this season - I am at Rutland next week on a match (making up the team numbers) !!!! - I have tried the bung in the past and never had any success but seen other more experience boat anglers have great success with it - intend to give it a go on practise day - what I have taken away from the "duo" on the river is that non of the takes even moved the fly line let alone were felt in my hand - controversial / float fishing - perhaps - but anglers have been using indicators for river nymph fishing for years - so we shall see how I get on with a new method - Cheers - Steve.

    I recently discovered buzzer fishing under an indicator in the middle of summer at Dever springs. Others were not having any success thrashing the water with the usual lures and I could see the fish 2 feet under the surface feasting on buzzers. I had tried buzzer fishing multiple times in the last two years with very little success. I filled my ticket that day.....I fired out a size 12 black buzzer to the middle of the large lake and watched the indicator slip away and I was into fish. When the fish are near the surface on a single fly only fishery the best way to set depth is under an indicator.....I have had multiple snide comments from other anglers about float fishing etc when I was hitting into fish. There seems to be a real stigma attached to strike indicators but if someone can tell me how to fish a specific buzzer depth using only one fly then I'm all ears!

    Good video Leigh.
    I fish in the north west, I like bigger waters, reservoirs, hill tarns...
    90 per cent of my time there is buzzers on, bing set up like you, or straight line. Even when I washing line method it's a suspender buzzer with a good sugar cube head on the point, and smaller buzzer on droppers.
    Buzzer fishing rules .....

    could you do that method with other flies later in the year?

    • @leighpond5928
      @leighpond5928 3 роки тому

      On most smaller fishery's now you can see lots of anglers fishing the bung with a vast array of different fly's suspended under it! from lures and blobs to app's worms ect basically pretty much anything you can imagine works on different waters and different times of the year. Popular as it is a vey relaxed way of fishing but man is it effective, I love to fish dawl's and crunchers later in the year when the main buzzer hatch has finished . Most effective when the buzzers are on deadly!!!

    very new to the sport, is it not really difficult to cast with so many flies or are you allowing the drift of the boat to in effect cast for you? Also, I always suspected an indicator was simply a float. Try telling that to a fly enthusiast. I only said it once!

    • @leighpond5928
      @leighpond5928 7 років тому +1

      It will take a bit of practice to cast 4 fly's but i normally fish from a drifting boat and have the wind behind me so it helps turn the fly's over when casting,
      and yes this is a controversial method and not everyone's cup of tea but hey it's just another method at the end of the day,i won the Bob Church Classic with this a few years ago and was slagged off by a few anglers, i enjoy catching fish and never have to bend the rules to win! i also enjoy catching small wild browns on up stream dry fly's never been a fishing snob,
      i have also caught fish on the bung as it does have a hook in it as dictated in competition rules but in all fairness not that many!!! lol

      @@leighpond5928 Absolutely don't mind this style of fishing myself. Like you say, it's just another method. What does bother me is seeing so many venues with fly fishing only signs going up. I love spin fishing for trout, but know of only one place I can do that anymore. It's somewhat irking when you see this, but are banned from my own method just because it's not a fly rod. otherwise the same.

    If course anglers can use a bubble float with some fly's why can't a fly fisherman use a float ?

    Makes me laugh when people moan about fishing with a Bung but are happy to use 2,3 or 4 flies at once!

    • @leighpond5928
      @leighpond5928 4 роки тому

      Yep there is so much animosity towards it , makes me laugh sometimes as its just another method and some days it works and other days it will not move!!! one of the best methods without drought early spring when they have just switched onto buzzers but I have sat in a boat and been totally out fished by strait line method and visa versa, on its day no quicker way to bag up! I just love the visual side of it nothing better that seeing the bung buried itself with a trail of bubbles following it under knowing that when you strike there is going to be a heavy resistance lol Tight lines thanks for your input Robert have you sub'ed yet?

    A bung, may as well allow worms, maggotts, bread, spinning anything. Bungs ate for wankers, end of!

    • @leighpond5928
      @leighpond5928 4 роки тому +7

      lol bit short sighted Dave, never tried it I guess? don't know why some people get so bent out of shape about it, some days it works others it never moves just depends on how the buzzers are hatching, nothing better than catching on dry,s mate but needs must on some days! some days it completely out fishes strait line nymphing other days it never moves and you get your arse kicked by the strait line, at the end of the day its just another method?
