I first saw this film at my home around 1967 (I think) when Reuter visited my father, Robert Geisler, who was Reuter's representative in Texas. By the time the film was made, my father had sold and installed many Reuter organs throughout the state. Reuter suggested using the film for sales, but my father decided against it. His comment to me later was that, while Reuter's claims were true, their presentation was perhaps too much like a commercial. I think the producers made the right decision in not trying to demonstrate intruments' sound in the film because there is no way an 8-millimeter film and projector could do justice to it. Anyway, I'm glad I had a chance to be around these instruments when I was growing up.
I worked at Reuter from 1979-'81. The man leathering the reservoice at 13" was known as "Little Joe", though I don't recall his last name.

This is cute. I bought a 1970 11 stop organ in wichita a few years ago and I am moving it to the Rio grande. I found a used octave of 32 ' Estes to get to the 16hz c. Not the biggest in nm but it is the only 32 ' bourdon in the state. Never heard a bad Reuter really gonna miss them!
Of the organs that I could specifically identify, the Univeristy of Michigan studio organ is from 1964... probably one of their most recent installations at the time the video was made.
Ive been blessed to be able to be close to 9 different Reuter Organs. All are two manual instruments, ranging from 6 ranks to 17 ranks. Built from the range from the mid 40s to the late 80s. They are by far the best around here. Thank you for posting this awesome video.
The organ sketch at 7:03 looks very much like the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception on the Boystown campus. Boystown hosted an international church music conference and that Reuter organ was played on by many of the big names of the late 50's and early 60's.
I've had the pleasure of hearing the organ in Oklahoma City at the Westminster Presbyterian Church that's featured in this video. A very great sounding instrument.
The church in Clearwater, Florida (24:47-25:22) is Trinity Presbyterian.

Tab collar shirts were big in the early 1960s.
I had a Reuter single rank unit chest scaled for a tibia clausa. The chest worked fine but the action takes up so much space in the chest that not enough air could pass thru the chest to run the tremulant. I added a 2" square wind channel to one side of the chest and it has worked fine for 30 years.
My guess is this film was made in the early 1960's. There are 3 tip offs, first the cars shown, second the actor's use of a Nikon F camera without a metering head. Then the hairstyles of the women. Nikon introduced the metering head in 1964 and most existing owners soon purchased a "Photomic" meter.
From the vehicles and women's hairstyles, I'd guess the early 1960s - same general period as "Carnival of Souls."

This quality of this video is an embarrassment to Reuter. I don't know how you could sell an instrument based on the sound on this film
From the look of the key contacts I assume this company made a number of unit organs in the 1960's.
Important to remember that the audio in this production went from an old film to VHS and then to digital. It has most likely been degraded a great deal from its original production. Is the glue that they use for a sealant, would it be arabic gum? In Toledo Ohio pipe organ, I love that design!
Most unfortunate that the sound technology was so inadequate that these instruments could not be presented in the video, but otherwise a very interesting film.
