This is the best, most detailed instruction manual on this saw. The video is stellar and easily relatable to the function of the actual saw. Well done and thanks.
This is an informative video. No paper manual could do as good a job. Dewalt should pay you and put a link to this video in their Getting Started Guide.
I encourage you, or anyone else, to get the DeWalt DWX726 Rolling Miter Saw Stand. These are ~$250, but can be purchased from Open Box (OBA, etc.) dealers for $110±. These are a one-time purchase item and likely will last as long, or longer, than your saw. These are great for smaller shops because they have a “fold-up” option. I’ve had the DeWalt DWX723 Heavy Duty Miter Saw Stand version for years. It was the ‘typically DeWalt great’ construction, but its sprawling legs just took up too much floor space in my small shop. These are generally about $25-$50 more (a lot less expensive if you can find an Open Box version) than the DeWalt DWX726. So, for a little bit more, would be a more versatile, smaller-foot print stand: definitely worth the extra expense and with more 'options.'
I have this exact setup and I’m here because the stand finally gave out yesterday. I bought the direct replacement DWX726 (updated) stand. It’s slightly improved over my old one. But the old one was now 15 years old! I can’t saw enough about this saw/stand combo. It’s tough as hell and easily the best saw I’ve used
@@ProjectsForAllReviews Ive actually cancelled my order. I hear there's a few problems with them. There was a safety recall on this model. 1. The rear guard breaks, needs replcement. These issues have put me off it. Now dewalt have come out with a newer model dcs781 60v but the price is ridiculous. Ive went for the Makita LS1219L/2 240V.

I have a 12 inch Admiral sliding miter saw from HF that cost $230, and it cuts fine and has managed to do everything that I have needed it to. BUT, there are tons of adjustments on that DeWalt that would certainly come in handy. The biggest problem I have with the Admiral is that I have to square everything up all over again every single time that I move it around, which for me is every single time that I use it. And that gets old really quick. I guess it's always a choice,...you can either spend more money, or you can spend more time.

@@ProjectsForAllReviews I've been looking at budget table saws lately, and the portable job site saw from Skil, with the built in legs, looks really good for the money. ($329) It has more features than the Hercules table saw from Harbor Freight that costs $400.
Skil sent me a couple tools to review last week. I was hoping one would be that budget table saw but they sent the 2x20v circ saw which will make a cool review vid. I was considering buying that entry level table saw to review. May still so keep an eye out
I agree as the prices at HF go up they look less attractive to me. I saw the $400 job saw and thought better to wait a month and save $200. For $600 you get to pick one from the top brands. Doesn’t make a ton of sense to me.
Responding to your thumbnail question “should a DIYer buy the Dewalt DS780”, I think not. This saw has a wicked kick as you squeeze the trigger and when you release it. If it’s only for DIY I would recommend a battery operated version or one with less power - it would be safer. The new Flexvolt 60 volt saw is smooth, has enough power, and has better dust collection albeit on the expensive end. A ten inch or smaller saw would do the job.
Next purchase will likely be a 10in sliding saw. I don't think I have need of a 12in as a DIYer. Everything else I can do with my circular saw or sled. Very comprehensive review. Good job
Hey Bill! I’ll get a 10 incher for review one of these days. It’s true the 12 is bulky and heavy and it probably more than most folks need unless it’s got it’s own station and never moves. Honestly I used the circ saw most of the time and only get the big saw out for large jobs with tons of miters. Thanks for the comment!
As a homeowner I guarantee you want the 12" slider unless you like cutting base flat using bevel. I can cut my 5" base standing up. Cutting anything but tiny nested crown will be a problem as well.
I can't cut my 5"1/2 baseboard stand up vertically 45 degrees with a 10" saw. Unless you go for a bevel cut. But you may lose the accuracy, and it's harder too. That's why I gave up and bought this monster.
Great vid. I'm a hobbyist and was about to pull the trigger on this. Need to replace my 12 year old 10" Craftsman miter. Definitely time. I really appreciated your inclusion of the calibration. Do you have a link to that angle detector?
Wow finallly found someone in youtube who explains nobody have done that. Thanks a bunch. In my saw it is perpendicular may be for 7 inch or so, when i use sliding function the blade is not perpendicular. what i mean is if i draw a straight line and if i run the saw on that line, it matches only for first 7 inch or so and the rest of the back towards you is slightly off, do you know how to fix that. please.
Have the 779, added the XPS light, which made it the 780. Then added a soft start and man, this saw is just a workhorse and can't say enough good things about this saw. There is an optional upgrade to get for dust collection from Shop Nation that is awesome as well.
The 33 is supposed to be for a corner where the walls meet at less than 90 and you meet at the detail leaving the back open. I assume mostly for crown. Which is the angle you use for butting crown. I dont really know haha
For the stand, its easier to open it while standing. Yes it will balance. They sell one (or the same one) for the miter saw. Also mine has a cone for dust collection maybe they changed it lol

Hi Lisa! Always unplug and pull out batteries to make sure the power is off. Only takes a second to do and then you know your safe. Thanks for watching!
The 30 degree detent is just an arbitrary 'standard', like the 15 degree setting. In the US you guys like the 31.something setting because you do a lot of crown mouldings. I have been an all-round carperter/builder for some 40 years in Dutchland and Kiwiland and have never come across crown mouldings. On the 780, it really is nice looking and feature rich machine, but at over 25kg and the size of Dodge truck, it is not for me. Size does matter. Just purchased this saw. Would you recommend keeping the original blade on there or going with another one? If another blade, how many teeth would you suggest?
Good question! I never saw the included blade for this one. My buddy only uses Diablo blades and that's what you see in the vid. How to select a blade is an important topic I probably should have made a video for already but really it comes down to what you are using it for. Most saws come with general purpose blades that work ok for most applications but don't excel at any particular one. If you're doing Rough Framing the included blade is probably fine until it wears out and then Id switch to a low tooth count framing blade. If you're going to do hobby style fine woodworking Id usually ditch the included blade for a high tooth count Fine Finish blade. Hope this helps and feel free to ask more questions. Thanks for watching!
It looks like the 780 is not the same 780 of a few years ago, they put the cheaper gears and motor from the 779 into the 780, so the blade housing on my 780 wobbles and is loose, I sent it in twice and they did not fix it.
Nice. Buddy of mine had a fire engine red with gold flames CVO wide glide. Just dropped mine at the dealer for new tires. Was surprised they were open Sunday.
Sorry for so many comments but this is the forst video that went over everything lol I did see that if youre doing crown they sell stops to allow you to cut the crown at the angle its installed (45deg) in case anyone doing crown molding project
great saw, crap stand. I had one and sold it after a day. The constant bending over and lifting is for the birds and begs for a back injury. Gravity type stand like the ridgid MS-UV is waaaaay better. Just step on a small foot release and it practically unfolds itself. of course the out rigger supports still want to sag which is an issue with all these stands so its no worse or better in that respect but for folding/unfolding nothing beats it. I would never buy this stand. I also have a bosch table saw on the bosch gravity stand and while its pretty good the ridgid is still easier to deploy.

A straight to the point illustration. Love it.
It looks like the 780 is not the same 780 of a few years ago, they put the cheaper gears and motor from the 779 into the 780, so the blade housing on my 780 wobbles and is loose, I sent it in twice and they did not fix it.
DeWalt does make a chop saw, it's the D28730.
Nooice!
Don't scratch the Harley!!!
Haha, I've got a wide glide!!
Nice. Buddy of mine had a fire engine red with gold flames CVO wide glide. Just dropped mine at the dealer for new tires. Was surprised they were open Sunday.
@@ProjectsForAllReviews Hell ya, enjoy the ride!
Just get the 779
Sorry for so many comments but this is the forst video that went over everything lol

30 30 30 is 90 | 22.5 22.5 22.5 22.5 is 90 it's just a option to have it look different
It's better to have it,and not need it, than to need it, and not have it!!
Now, how about a bike detailing video? LOL
That poor bikes always trashed with sawdust! Air compressor to the rescue! Thanks for watching!
The 10" was better.
great saw, crap stand.
Buy once cry once
First time I heard that phrase I was 16 and in a Snap-On truck. Thanks for watching!
@@ProjectsForAllReviews Thanks for mailing these in-depth videos! As someone who is just starting to get into woodworking, having these detailed reviews is really nice, and really does a good job pointing out the differences between the high-end (yet still reasonably priced) tools and the more budget oriented ones. Amazing how much more tool you get for just a little bit more money
I agree
600-650 doesn't seem like a hefty price tag for a slider of this quality.
Now 1500 for a the festool is hefty😅
Put a good wide kerf blade on it as well.
I agree Douglas! Honestly Festools prices blow my mind. Especially when good quality, serviceable tools like this are available at a third the cost. Maybe I’m just cheap! 😂 Thanks for watching!
Gives u a reason to ride, gotta blow the bike off
