- I've had this 'predator fish fishing set" from Lidl for a few months now and i've been putting it off and putting it off because I knew it was going to be a rock hard challenge! £7 For a 59 piece set you know the quality isn't going to be great haha. watch to find out if I can pull out a fish using the lures in this box and dont forget to subscribe!

Those Lidl sets aren’t too bad, got my second biggest perch ever (0.95kg) with a Lidl’s large green deep diving fat rap copy. Have had good times with it.
The fish don’t really care if it’s a 15€ bait or 1€ bait.

More expensive baits usually have better overal quality and action, cheaper baits mostly run off to 1 side etc.
@@paling1872 cheap lures might have brittle hooks that rust quickly. Cheap crankbaits I never buy as they probably won't have wire going all the way through so if a fish bites into them or breaks them, the hook beaks off and is stuck in the fish. Quality crankbaits have wire going all the way through and the fish will still be on if it were to break.

Took that exact kit down to one of my local Harbours back in the summer, caught many mackerel on the floats and spinners haha
Good bit of bait fishing fun, decent for someone starting off.

Not much of a boast... mackerel will attack even a bare hook.

You can spend loads on one lure.... £10 plus for a rapala, easily. You loose a couple or more in a day ....it mounts up. A cheap box from Lidl makes sense...plus as you said at the end you also get bait tackle. I saw a pike float and wire traces in there too they're not cheap at tackle shops.
The traces are far too small I threw them in the bin! About 7 inches long! I’ve always made my own traces anyway but the rest of the gear isn’t bad. I’ve still got most of it somewhere.
Should look at at go outdoors and the range some good buys there
I got my biggest pike 15lb 6 on a lure I found on Amazon (3 in a pack less than a tenner) 11cm lure on the first cast in a canal in Wigan. It's literally right place at right time.Pike will take anything. the ginger fisherman will prove that to you. £7 for a full set up is awesome and I'll buy it if I see it. In my opinion half the stuff he used was in same area no wonder they didn't bite because they wasn't there. He had 2 really good follows and a catch so they work. and also don't pull any shad by its tail out of a stuck packet of you don't want it rip. Cheap or not. seems like a really good buy to me. Also you can really hear the rattle in the crank/jerk baits which you don't in some of my more expensive ones

I also got one of these kits last year. Had a bit more luck than you did but defo helped me jump into predator fishing

We were fishing and my mate said "pike take anything, that's why I don't like them". I said "bollocks"....so he put a bit of a banana skin on a treble hook and cast out and caught one in about 5 casts. I know it's not always that easy, but usually if they're there then they play.
Similar thing happened with myself and a mate, I used some foil paper from a cigarette pack and caught a small pike. Still laugh about it now, oh also had a half decent roach on a piece of chewed wrigglys chewing gum😅

Nice session, If You hadn't broke the tail off the Shad. I would have said that was the Lure of the day, given the water was a little coloured and that Red tail would have been so bright.
I loved this video, I set myself challenges to catch fish with Chinese lures, and I have had a 15lb muskie with one, chewed up the hooks mind, but I got it. In canada zander are called walleye. Keep up the good work.
Hi David, Zander (sander lucioperca) and walleye (sander vitreous) are separate though similar species, tight lines old chap as we say in England.
Was out fishing on my local canal last night and stepped on one of those yellow cranks 😂 glad I found it and not a dog walker.

Not into lure fishing myself but tempted too give it a go after watching this if a budget Lidl set can catch I suppose I will give it bash😉
I've seen a video a guy caught a pike with a carrot he carved and put trebles on. With something like pike the most important things are lure fishing the right place and depth, get those two things right you got a good chance if the pike are hunting.
I’ve 2 reels for Aldi, there years old and stand up to the rest… I’ve upgraded and they are spars now. Work great when bringing the lads fishing.

Ive had lots of Lidl gear no complaints so far some of the terminal tackle is a little crude but one fishes accordingly. It's just a matter of adapting. My first proper rod was a three piece bottom two bamboo
Top fibre glass solid it still catchs fish as 5lb carp proved last week it's the angler not the tackle
Went fishing last Monday on a short free stretch of the stour at Longham watched 3 coarse fishermen getting irrate at the pike constantly robbing their catches and wrecking their rigs. I on the other hand used every lure in my box and not a sausage🤷♂️
Should have borrowed their rods 😂
Thats why i tend to rig up a predator rig when i am coarse fishing... when your pike fishing, you ever tried putting in ground bait? Theory is, that gets the silvers feeding, draws in the predators, so retieve over and around them spots
@@davehart1027 Been used to pike fishing from a boat in the local lakes in Ireland but obviously since the pandemic and not being able to get over there have only recently bank fished here its just finding the right lure? I've had the best results with a sea squid funny enough but I will try your suggestion thanks mate 👍

@@delwigzieful years, hadn't done much the past few years so getting back to it, had a couple of small pike at the start of the year but nothing since, few pike going far the lure but not committing to it and seen a few big ones in the lilleys and practically dropping it on there head and there not interested, just a waiting game lol
Good thinking to cut the bill down and round the edges to make it swim alittle shallower than beforehand desperate times call for desperate measures👌
the yellow one works pretty well before sunset i got the same package at Greece change hooks cause they are pretty bad
That trout colour lure is one of the best i owned. Most and biggest pikes caught on that lure.
Thats why dbro, buy a cheap leatherman. I saw the lip of rad rat, very rare the rats dive so why would the lure dive? Works a treat, had pike attack it, but only use 1 hook on its back so hook up is so far 100/1 or something 😂
Great film, and folk, buy proper lures, its cheaper over time. And dont use crap traces, they will break, loosing fish, and loosing lures. Keep em coming pal

If you can, find the sea fishing one! It's an absolute bargain, you get all sorts and I only paid £3 quid. Wish I'd spent £20 on the things.
Some of us can only afford to buy fishing tackle from the likes of Lidl. I have caught some nice fish on such budget tackle. Rowjen
There was no need to cut the lip on the crank bait lift your rod tip up & it won’t dive so deep
What rod you using in this video?
I caughty my PB pike of 1.12 meters on an Action Store cranckbait. As long as it moves, makes sound and behaves like a weak baitfish / bait animal, then a pike will attack it. Most of the time the treble hook on these lures aren't that good, so you can better replace them on my opinion
I lost the biggest pike of my life yesterday was heartbroke I was lol I had already been snagged up by a small jack but I managed to get it but was a mission so wen I got the big 1 on it had had a few runs an was taking me everywere I thought it was tiering and was worried about getting snagged again sk tightened the drag and it shot like a bullet and snapped me of I'm more boverd about the hook an trace in fishes mouth to be honest but was only a single hook and the hooks ushully fall out as soon as there in the net so hopfull the fish will be ok was probly 15 to 18 lbs was easily double my pb aswell lol

Haha a lidl fish on a lidl lore lol. I've tried lots of cheap Chinese lures to see what they attract and like you struggled because most of them swim terrible but theres always the odd perch that will taste one.

I caught 45 pike in one day on some cheap spoons and crankbaits here in western Canada...i don't think pike know the difference between a 6 dollar Len Thompson spoon and a cheap chinese knockoff!

I wince every time I see someone un-hooking a fish without long nose pliers or forceps. ..especially when the lure has two treble hooks. If the fish starts thrashing about at the wrong time and you finger gets hooked, ABSOLUTE AGONY !!!! And if the fish keeps thrashing how do you unhook it with one hand. .??? I've seen it done and I was there to help...if you're on your own you're FCUKED !!! ALWAYS USE LONG NOSE PLIERS OR FORCEPS PLEASE !!!
You grab pike under the chin to open their mouth and keep them steady. If it's a big pike then you should kneel on the ground with your legs either side of the pike and it won't be able to thrash about too much. I don't use pliers or forceps if the hook is in deep, I use the unhooking tool with the trigger, it's brilliant.

I see a lot of folk doing these challenges with lesser gear & cheap nonsense I can only wonder the potential damage to the fish with this crap...unless I know my gear is solid I ain’t fishing with it I’m not leaving hooks in the water nor leaving fish with a broken lure stuck in its jaws... don’t use these things please 🙏🙏

It’s against the law to fish that river you need permission off the government you are not allowed to fish there it’s not public fishing and you need to own up cause you need to pay for what you done to the water and the land the government should know
