Here is everything you need to know about the new taba squishy trend! Taba means "bundle" or "bunch" in japanese and is now used to describe these super soft squishies that come in in a "bundle" of fake packaging. You squish it through the plastic which is surprisingly satisfying. Tabas originated in China, where silicone factories have started producing a new polymer that is softer than Shore 00. This is sometimes confusingly referred to as "glue" on social media clips however it's due to a mistranslation. In Chinese, "jiao" (glue) can also be used to describe any thick, sticky liquid. It's essentially the Chinese term for "squishy gel". Tabas are always made from silicone and have nothing to do with glue.
Some tabas are so sticky that they have to be flocked. When buying flocking powder, try to avoid ones that are marketed as fake snow. These are usually quite coarse and won't give you the best velvety, fuzzy texture. Make sure you're wearing an N95/FF2 mask (or higher) when using flocking powder because the particles get everywhere and should not be inhaled. Some people work inside a closed box with two holes cut out for your hands.

The sophie and toffee squishy gels, from my experience, do tend to stick more to silicone and from what I saw even sophie and toffee adds a separation layer in their newest video for the silicone squishy box. The reason the paws worked is likely because the molds are rubber based and not silicone. Always love seeing you experimenting with these kinds of things.

Yay and good luck with your store! I feel that taba is going to become the next slime trend where the best products come from indie sellers. I somehow don't see any commercial companies making good taba squishies. Most are probably going to cut corners and try to sell giant mochis in plastic bags with cheap fillers inside.

since the word refers to a cluster of textures, the point seems to be to keep it in the package to squish them all. especially if they’re supposed to be super soft
yep! the packaging is part of the texture, so it's awesome if you're someone (like me) who loves crinkly things.
Yep, I don't think you are supposed to take them out. It's surprisingly satisfying though...a lot more ASMR-y compared to regular squishies.

You need to put vaseline inside of the mold before pouring the silicone! Also demolding in water helps.

Does the part A and part B of the silicone not have a different density? So measuring by weight leads to not having 1:1 ratio unless you did recalculate it? I'm just curious because I learned with silicone and resin you should measure by volume
That's interesting! I never thought about that and I've only seen people measure them by weight as well. The two liquids do look very similar though in terms of density. Part B is usually the hardener but bizarrely, in the Chinese videos, Part A seems to be the hardener.

Hello ✨💗 does the A B rubber liquid silicone work for squishy ?
Have you ever used caulking mixed with cornstarch to make molds? It would be a lot cheaper than the two-part putty, and I've seen folks successfully use it for years :)
I tried doing that many years ago to make fake deco cream but unfortunately it didn't end well. The caulking was so difficult to remove from my skin...I wasn't sure if I got the wrong brand or type of silicone
@@maqaroon oh no! I've never touched it with my skin until it cured, I mixed mine in a plastic cup with a popsicle stick until it was a putty, and wore gloves since I have really sensitive skin.

Not all flocking is small fibers. There are flocking fibers that are longer and used in dioramas. Saying that it’s not “real flocking” bc it’s longer is just incorrect

Yes, they're supposed to be squished through the plastic. It's much more ASMR-y than regular squishies but very satisfying
I bought the older S&T squishy gel awhile back and I tried to use it for the first time recently and it didn't cure all the way. Extremely sticky/goopy on the mold side.
I'm not sure if I mixed it less than I should've or if the pigment was bad, or if my ratio was just way off somehow.
Have you had this happen?

I'm surprised to hear that! The gel usually cures without problems, however the ratio needs to be 50:50, with possibly more hardener (40:60 for A: B). Though I have heard that things like temperature and room humidity can interfere with silicone curing so maybe that played a role

maybe you can use baby powder on the molds to prevent it from sticking
if ur gonna use silicone a and b put Vaseline on the mold before you pour the silicones, it'll be easy to demold

So basically its just a two part silicone mixture A and B but the shore hardness is very low? I bought one out of curiosity and took it out of the package, it felt like like it is a shore hardness of 00-10 to me.

Instead of throwing out the uncured hitohada gel, would adding more hardener and then pouring the mixture back into the mould work?

be careful when buying from temu, there have been concerns over the working conditions of temu employees and the selling of data from the site to data brokers including personal info and credit card info
Yes in terms of payment I only use Paypal which has an added layer of encryption. Regarding working conditions I feel it's the same as Aliexpress and Taobao so most of the sellers are independent factories/stores.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend getting tabas from Temu just based on the fact they are not real ones. The squishy inside is made from the same material as mochis and not the super squishy silicone. Though I'm afraid I don't know any official places that sell them yet. I think just like slime, it will take a while before indie shops start taking over and you'll be able to get handmade tabas directly from the creators.

I do wanna point out our pronunciations of taba (束) are different. I pronounce it more closely to how it’s pronounced in Japanese (same with every other Japanese word i pronounce) and I dunno how to easily type the different pronunciations lol.
