Gotta agree with the man. The stuff that 'scares' me in video games usually end up being subtle stuff. Little things changing, ominous hallways, flickering lights, creepy imagery. It's the anticipation of something happening that's the scary part. Jumpscares are ok when used right (there has to be SOME, otherwise there's nothing to anticipate in the first place. But honestly it's the anticipation of those jumpscares that gets me, more than the jumpscare itself. I recently played Layers of Fear, and I gotta say, it's probably my favorite scary game. A game that feels inspired by PT. Yes, there were jumpscares, but it wasn't constant. A lot of the scary moments were when rooms were looping, or a perfectly normal painting on the wall changing when you're not looking. Game companies don't realize that we know we're playing a game. Threatening us with death in a game isn't gonna scare us like it would irl. There's no consequence for dying in a game, you just respawn. We need to be drawn into the world and made to feel uneasy when that world starts doing weird things. Jumpscares are the equivalent of someone sneaking up behind you in a dark room and yelling "BOO!" in your ear. Is it scary? Not at all. But you'll still jump.
@@heyllo1337 no that's Amnesia. Layers Of Fear is about an troubled artist trying to create his finest work. It involves a lot more physcological horror then Amnesia. More The Shining than Scream

For sentimental reasons and entertainment value? Absolutely. Worth anything on Ebay? Absolutely not. People already tried putting their dusty, scuffed-as-fuck PS4's up for $1K+ and I'm almost certain that no one was dumb enough to take the bait...
The creators of the game have been very persistent in making sure ps4’s are not being sold as exclusive for having the game on them. Good luck if you can sell it I just looked into it recently.
Damn it, the game is gone now. Konami probably found out. Why can't Konami bring the demo back? I will forever hate Konami. You botch your own product and then you get mad at other people who want to bring it back? That's like getting mad that someone re-built your house after you burned it down. The logic of Konami is nonexistent.
Just A Gremlin Man I don’t think it’s really the part that you can’t find it anymore but more of the fact that they had the balls to take it down in the first place. There was no real reason for them to take the original demo in the first place since it was fully completed, yet they did it anyway. So when someone showed enough passion to recreate the entire demo (which they don’t make available anymore) and they decide to take it down without any way to download the original, it’s basically a middle finger to the whole community.
Konami is owned by a Yakuza group now. That's why they are focusing on gambling like Pachinko machines and mobile games with gacha mechanics(lootbox) and pay2win.
from your point view it is a house, from their point view it is an annoying pure garbage, it is make sense if they got angry, using your own logic and definition and apply it to other people who have obviously different way of thinking, mostly result in misunderstanding
they made an announcement in the logs of updates they posted about why they took it down, it didn’t have anything to do with Konami forcing them to take it down or anything.
I disagree with the notion that P.T. is meant to be solved by yourself. It's nearly impossible for one person to solve the last puzzle. P.T. is not a complete game. It was meant to make hype for the upcoming Silent Hill game and part of that was to get people to talk about the game which was done by making puzzles solvable only by a hivemind. People get stuck, go online and talk about puzzles, lore and the game itself. It was a social game.
Nacho Gazpacho I sold it myself with no help from the internet or anything. I stayed up most of the night playing it and didn’t even know it was going to be a Silent hill game. All I knew going into it was that it was incredibly challenging and that it was scary and I was sucked in. If I had gotten any help online or otherwise I would have felt that I robbed myself of the experience, it wasn’t just that it was scary it was that it was maddening, that was where the real fear in P.T. existed.
The game wasn't designed to progress on your own. Kojima pretty much said it was designed to be solved collaboratively by the internet. That is why the key information to progress is given in different languages for example. And they thought the people would need two weeks.
@@AlexNutNut It's pretty common as far as marketing goes. It's called 'alternate reality game' and typically involves obscure hints in press releases, trailers and demos that are then collectively solved by the community. For example, the Cyberpunk2077 arg gets a fair share of publicity currently.
I hate the fact that I never got to download P.T. I'm pretty sure that Kojima will implement ideas from P.T. into Death Stranding - it looked too damn ambitious and creative to be left completely by the wayside.
I think it'll be left aside until Kojima and Del Toro decide to work together again, because they still want to work together. The whole Konami bullshit and starting up a new studio has put their project on hold pretty much
I bought my first and only PS4 last December and I managed to download PT by using some proxy server. I thought it was impossible to play the only game I have been wanting to for years, but someone helped me! So let me know if you need help brotha and I'll get you PT on your PS4!
Silent Hill 4 had explored some of the ideas Kojima implemented on P.T (mostly thematic stuff, ghosts, misterious murders, being stuck in a place you apparently can't leave, hearing about murders in the radio and the atmosphere is kinda similar) I actually think Kojima took a lot of inspiration from SH4 to be honest. I highly recommend playing that game.
@@rickydo6572 Considering the fact that the new Kojima Productions team has some former Silent Hill veterans, i'd say you are right! I believe there was some sort of collaboration with some Silent Hill devs back then that might helped with PT or at least gave some ideas.
I will always be so upset over the fact this was cancelled... P.T was one of the most uncomfortable and scary things I've experienced, and when I imagine taking that into a fully fledged game, imagining eerie forests, the empty town of Silent Hill, an abandoned hospital... Silent Hills was looking like it was going to be the best horror experience imaginable. I really wish they'd come back together just for this, just to finish this game. Such a shame...
'' P.T. was a major highlight of that year '' I agree but for me it was even more than that...I like horror games but I'm too stoic a person to get scared when playing a horror game. But whenever Lisa was around the corner..not knowing if she'd attack or not...I really was scared shitless. To this day, even if I know when she'll be attacking I still get scared. The way it was presentend and just for the shock surprise at the end...this game become an instant classic
The game was really good but it didn’t real feel scary to me even remotely. The last game that made me scared was darkwood which is pretty much the peak of horror to me
1:20 No, the demo was never designed to be solved "by your own" because it's really difficult (maybe even near impossible) to do it on your own. It was made so that people could cooperate through social media to solve the mystery, it's basically the same thing that's going somehow to happen with Death Stranding as Kojima had stated.
My buddy just text me two days ago and said "I found PT on an old hard drive" - I really hope when we boot it up, it actually works and we can play it! Edit: for all the commenters telling me to "just google it" - I meant it was on an old PS4 hard drive - so we couldn't "just find it online"
It really annoys me seeing comments like this like could you not use Google? You can still download it with a VPN complete waste of time on your behalf
Also, the solution was too simple not to realize (unless those creatures killed the smart ones first). If something is too sensitive to something, give them a lot more of it.

I never got to play it, never saw the first playthroughs or the search for answers, but I keep finding myself coming back to it. It’s brilliant, a little peak at what never came to be. P.T.'s scary feelings were genuinely coming back to me while I watched your video... until I heard the words "Harlem Shake". Then I had to stop to laugh for a minute, lol. Very nice.
I was so lucky last year. I'm a videogame collector and during the fall I was doing my occasional browsing of local listing apps like Offerup, Letgo, etc and I saw an older gen 1 PS4 for sale for $140. I really didn't need it as I already had a slim and for all I know it could totally be broken at that price. But I said to hell with it because only one thought was running through my mind, "is it on older firmware?" I met up with the guy and he was a no bullshit seller that even told me to contact him if anything was wrong with it. And to my literal shock and excitement when I got home the damn thing worked and was on v4.01. I jailbroke it first thing that night and installed P.T. and had one of the most insane videogame experiences of my life. Hideo's demo is a little but big horror masterpiece that's made its mark on this industry and it's sad we couldn't see it completed. Even though the average person can't just play the actual PT it's amazing the passion this demo has created that people want to remake this for everyone to try. I will cherish my JB PT PS4 for a long time...
Yes it did, Hideo is THE MAN. Best horror experience ever and it was only a demo. Damn Konami for canceling it!...or have they? This is the true ART of horror.
You made a video of 13 minutes that seemed 3. What an amazing video, so well written, so well organized. You kept my interest throughout the whole video. Amazing, keep up the good work!
P.T or Silent hill 5 was going to be more like Silent hill 1-3 when it would be finished. Sadly we are going miss out on something that was going to be just as amazing as sh 2 and even maybe taken a step beyond. But all we have left is the Playable Teaser.
I still go back to P.T. every once in a while...easily one of the best gaming experiences of that year. Thank you for the video. I love your dedication to making great content!
I still have the game saved on my PS4. I've wanted to delete it initially since I don't even play it. But I don't know if it will have some value down the line so I just kept it.
FYI: you guys cant download it anymore, just tried its bin taken down. and there is no info as to why. I've bin looking why he took it down. i wish i had a chance to play it....
4:26 well this puzzle is actually told to you in game, and there is an actual way of solving it. Although, people didn't figure it out properly. You'd get these backwards messages randomly on the last loop, and when played in reverse and putting them together, you'd basically get instructions on how to solve the puzzle. It ended up saying something like "I walked ten paces before jack" (walk ten paces in the hall) "I called out his name" say jack into the microphone until you get a baby laugh "I then froze in place" (stop moving after the second baby laugh and get the last one). Those lines aren't exactly it because I don't remember them perfectly but that's for the most part what it was
Im wondering how P.T. can be a part of a game? Its amazing as a playable teaser but i dont think it could be a whole game like that. Probably kojima just wanted to leave konami and that was his last thing done in konami. Imo kojima just created silent hills to give P.T. experience to gamers.
Oh. my. God. Thank you for making this. For years I have been gushing over this game and have tried so many times to explain to friend groups why it's so incredible and terrifying. You explained it perfectly. I'm so happy there are others who still like to talk about my favorite horror game of all time. Hard subscribe
Hideo Kojima is nothing short of a GENIUS. If I could meet one celebrity on earth it would be Hideo. I admire this man so much. One of the greatest minds of our time.
Silent Hill and Konami's other hit franchises will not die. Their fan bases are simply way too big and deep for them to be lost forever. When the fans of those series join the gaming industry, they'll have another shot at life.
I get the feeling Konami will either die, or be completely restructured before a new Silent Hill will ever be made. Whoever it is that runs that company is completely out of touch with their fans, and doesn't care in the slightest. I imagine in the future they will become strictly a pachinko/ mobile game company, but will (hopefully) let more competent and caring developers make fully-fledge games for their IPs.
Westernized side of horrors are "splatter" and "body horror",means everything that involves "materia" but can be explained,Japanese horrors are all baout "soul","sorrow" and "ghosts" things that you can't fully explained
Why do I feel like cancelling the release of the game was a strategy too? I mean think about it if they suddenly release the game when everybody thinks it was cancelled it would shock the players so just as it is with p.t. we would have no context about the game.
Make a video on a quiet place. And yeah P.T is SPECIAL! I still have it on my ps4! That games was so haunting! One time my brother started p.t on my ps4 via remote play from our vita. And I started hearing Lisa's voice in the other room and I got so scared. That game got me
Developer took the download down from his page, said it was because he's "busy with school" which makes literally no sense, got angry at commentors asking him to put it back up, and is actively removing people's mirror links.... What a waste.
My husband gave me his old PS4 that had PT on it, after I bought him a PS4 pro. I'm a lucky lady, lol. (I had one, but sold it due to a family emergency.)
I agree whole heartedly that P.T. did something amazing. Not only does it hold a special place in my heart, it's spawned many other games to take horror in a much needed more psychological path. Visage is a game that you can see was inspired by the genius of PT and did an amazing job at helping the survival horror genre stir clear of the action/adventure that was enveloping almost the the modern titles. Great video.
what a demo! a demo that became hands down thee scariest game of all time ( full games too ) it rivals even the movie genres best horror films in history. Kojima, del Toro nailed a 30 minute masterpiece which filled me with awe and terror in equal amount. This short demo raised the proverbial bar ten fold in this genre of gaming with its excellent atmospheric background music and great moments such as when Lisa's presence is literally on your shoulder exacerbated by that creepy voice on the radio " don't look behind you, I said DONT! look behind you". Brilliant.
I think Resident Evil 7 helped fill the void of Silent Hills, but I still would have loved to play it. Also, A Quiet Place is super flawed. It's a very fun movie if you watch it with "Gremlins Logic" but if you think about all the logistics it doesn't make much sense.
Wow man. You've made me realize so much. You are truly inspiring. I've never noticed so many things until now. Knowledge really is power. Without it, we would be hopeless💯
How to ruin A Quiet Place for fans: 1. Sound hyper-sensitivity means that they hear us breathe. We have a constant beat we make, even that should give us away. And not only. 2. The mother in this movie is the best superhero ever. She gave birth and right away, she had the strength to stand up and fight. It was disrespectfully stupid. But awesome vid though. And you are right - as long as the movie makes you suspend your knowledge about the stated above, it really doesnt matter.
1. The monsters dont hear the tiniest sounds, theres whispering if I recall. 2. Adrenaline can make people lift cars, this is similar and possible even if far fetched 3. Theres actual reasons rhe world makes less sense but these 2 arent them
A Quiet Place is the most overrated horror film of all time. CGI overload that takes away from the potential scariness of the creatures, fractured internal logic, scares that come from the protagonists acting out of character instead of being crafted with their traits in mind, and a watered down feel thanks to its PG-13 rating.
Brayden Porter you don't have to like everything, but I enjoyed the movie a lot, and I've been a horror fanatic for over 25 years. I've seen probably thousands of horror movies in every category, and A Quiet Place is one of my favorites as well. It's not the scariest, it's not the most well written, it's not the most memorable, but it is extremely thought provoking.
P.T. may not have gotten its full game, but it definitely made its mark. Heck, even a huge game like Resident Evil Village carries distinct influences from P.T. in its scariest section. It may not have had the future it was meant to have, but it's clearly done enough to scare and inspire people on its own.
I dont play game but I watch lets play. Im dont like horror games but when P.T came out, I was crazy over it, I watched so many lets play of it. And until now, sometimes, I'd find videos of people talking about it to watch. The idea was so fresh and interesting to me, PT changed so many things about gaming for me and the industry itself.
It is depressing, I have been a huge silent hill fan since I was a kid. All we get is heartbreak after heartbreak with Silent Hill. For this, Silent Hills, I was excited. Finally, a game developer that is competent in creating an experience like non-other in this world of Silent Hill. We also would get better story writing with the inclusion of Guillermo Del Toro, and greater character building with Norman Reedus... Sadly it never will be, and I will never be able to play Death Stranding knowing that it is the shell of a game I would have much more loved and enjoyed. Rest In Peace, Silent Hill.
I remember being at such a loss when I heard they cancelled the Silent Hill game because of personal issues within the company. I was livid.
Amen!
I strongly recommend Layers Of Fear if you like that kind of stuff. It's beautifull
Was that the game based around candles and an insantity meter?
@@heyllo1337 no that's Amnesia. Layers Of Fear is about an troubled artist trying to create his finest work. It involves a lot more physcological horror then Amnesia. More The Shining than Scream
i would recommend SOMA if you are into that aswell as good story
The final puzzle was supposed to be a community puzzle not individual. It is solved using the text that appears for a few seconds when you zoom in on the notes.
This is also why several of the hints are written in multiple different languages.
Is my old ps4 hard drive worth something for having this on it?
Yes. very lucky
I still got mine on an old Hard Drive too.
God fucking damnit I'm so jealous!
Dude, you can find it easily. Legitimately look up Unreal PT mirror, and you'll find a mirror somewhere. Chill.
Nacho Gazpacho just like destiny when the first 2 raids came out lol
It's pretty obvious it was supposed to be a world wide effort, considering every new clue was in a different language.
If that Is impossible how can you find it in the Internet?
@@wareforcoin5780 reminds me of the movie Arrival. If you have seen it, you will know.
WHAT? THAT'S ACTUALLY GENIUS GAME MAKING....
The whole Konami bullshit and starting up a new studio has put their project on hold pretty much
Alot of people think that death stranding is the game that pt was suppose to be or atleast death stranding is a spiritual successor.
I bought my first and only PS4 last December and I managed to download PT by using some proxy server. I thought it was impossible to play the only game I have been wanting to for years, but someone helped me! So let me know if you need help brotha and I'll get you PT on your PS4!
Silent Hill 4 had explored some of the ideas Kojima implemented on P.T (mostly thematic stuff, ghosts, misterious murders, being stuck in a place you apparently can't leave, hearing about murders in the radio and the atmosphere is kinda similar)
I actually think Kojima took a lot of inspiration from SH4 to be honest.
Aaaaand it's gone. The guy took it down for "reasons". My hopes have been raised high and smashed to pieces on the rocks. Bravo.
Person McPerson no doubt for legal reasons
If you haven't already, you can look for a mirror download from Reddit.
I believe Konami said “oh fuck this!” and copyright stuck him. I mean, what else do you think Konami would do! At least you could find mirrord links
'' P.T. was a major highlight of that year '' I agree but for me it was even more than that...I like horror games but I'm too stoic a person to get scared when playing a horror game.
The last game that made me scared was darkwood which is pretty much the peak of horror to me
1:20
No, the demo was never designed to be solved "by your own" because it's really difficult (maybe even near impossible) to do it on your own.
It was made so that people could cooperate through social media to solve the mystery, it's basically the same thing that's going somehow to happen with Death Stranding as Kojima had stated.
SuperRobotGames wasn’t there a puzzle where you had to zoom in on the options menu? That seems nearly impossible

I prefer jacksepticeye's playthrough.
Biggest let ever that this wasn’t finished I am still grieving. I hope one day we will get a finished pt.
My buddy just text me two days ago and said "I found PT on an old hard drive" - I really hope when we boot it up, it actually works and we can play it! Edit: for all the commenters telling me to "just google it" - I meant it was on an old PS4 hard drive - so we couldn't "just find it online"

Favorite horror film of all time? Wow that’s ballsy
Also, the solution was too simple not to realize (unless those creatures killed the smart ones first). If something is too sensitive to something, give them a lot more of it.
yeah the ending was my biggest issue with the movie, it seems something like that would've been tried already
@@clockyaaron683 what about the waterfall scene? Why is it that a waterfall (being naturally loud) isnt a hotspot for the creatures? The entire scene breaks the world they built, making the rest of events meaningless.

This game came out years before I even started using the internet and I’m in awe of it. I never got to play it, never saw the first playthroughs or the search for answers, but I keep finding myself coming back to it. It’s brilliant, a little peak at what never came to be.
To be honest, I think if he wanted to keep making it, he probably could just crowdfund it. We already fell in love with the teaser, who knows what we might pay to see the full masterpiece?
The teaser still sits in my hard drive ❤️
Thank you for putting the intro transcript into the description box.
I discovered how much I like the Silent Hill games this summer and I’m so bummed we will never get anything like the classic PS2 Silent Hill games again
P.T.'s scary feelings were genuinely coming back to me while I watched your video... until I heard the words "Harlem Shake". Then I had to stop to laugh for a minute, lol. Very nice.
1:19 Actually, it's meant to be that you get together with other people from different countries and solve the puzzles together.
A well-made video, thanks for putting some time into this!
Death Stranding will be a masterpiece. Calling it.
It's definitely gonna be a piece of work
With you mate
I highly, highly doubt it will be a masterpiece. Kojima hasn’t ever came close to a masterpiece.
That's all dandy. I just hope it doesn't say created and directed by Hideo Kojima after each scene.
Absolutely
"Where you see the mother doing the Harlem Shake..."
LMAO!!! Holy fuck that was hilarious.
Actually laughed when he said see mother doing the harlem shake.... Don't know why
They fired Kojima. If it's not cancelled it's going to be shit

Hurray an upload! Love ur stuff. And love horror, so this is a nice surprise!

Wait for Death Stranding. You will see
That wasn't meant to be part of the silent hills game... At the end of the demo you go put of the house into the silent hill town
Oh. my. God. Thank you for making this. For years I have been gushing over this game and have tried so many times to explain to friend groups why it's so incredible and terrifying. You explained it perfectly. I'm so happy there are others who still like to talk about my favorite horror game of all time. Hard subscribe
Heads up if u try to complete this on ur own without looking it up, Just be prepared to walk in a creepy hallway loop for all eternity.
You did a really good job explaining the game, liked and subbed.
Also, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a good example of Kojima's quote "what people see depends on their ecperience or trauma"
Hideo Kojima is nothing short of a GENIUS. If I could meet one celebrity on earth it would be Hideo. I admire this man so much. One of the greatest minds of our time.
Hope the silent hill franchise isn't done for. That would be a shame.
Nah they're making a twist on the next game where now it's a crystal zombie survival game
Silent Hill and Konami's other hit franchises will not die. Their fan bases are simply way too big and deep for them to be lost forever. When the fans of those series join the gaming industry, they'll have another shot at life.
Brett Quimby Oof just like the metal gear franchise, it's not like they ruined the whole franchise and no one liked the shitty game they made
I get the feeling Konami will either die, or be completely restructured before a new Silent Hill will ever be made. Whoever it is that runs that company is completely out of touch with their fans, and doesn't care in the slightest. I imagine in the future they will become strictly a pachinko/ mobile game company, but will (hopefully) let more competent and caring developers make fully-fledge games for their IPs.
@@That_One_Xatu Well, just because Konami sucks doesn't mean their franchises have to.

Why do I feel like cancelling the release of the game was a strategy too? I mean think about it if they suddenly release the game when everybody thinks it was cancelled it would shock the players so just as it is with p.t. we would have no context about the game.
It’s unfortunate that Kojima did not finish the game, PT is the scariest game I have ever witness. A true terrifying and masterful experience
Make a video on a quiet place. And yeah P.T is SPECIAL! I still have it on my ps4! That games was so haunting! One time my brother started p.t on my ps4 via remote play from our vita. And I started hearing Lisa's voice in the other room and I got so scared. That game got me
Well thanks man, I definitely didn't click on this video thinking they restarted production.
Somebody also ported a version of it to VRChat, too. So if you wanna play it with your friends, go ahead and do so!
Captain Satwon dear gosh, imagine it in VR
I was 12 years old in the time the fuck, bro P. T was just A INCREDIBLE piece of art

My husband gave me his old PS4 that had PT on it, after I bought him a PS4 pro. I'm a lucky lady, lol. (I had one, but sold it due to a family emergency.)
i can't believe it's already been almost 5 years since P.T. came out. that's crazy
A Quiet Place was okay, nothing special, they should have removed the music in so many scenes. I prefer Tremors more.

Played RE7 and P.T. i can say that RE7 did not even come close to what P.T. did to me. the impact that game had is unbeliveable even almost nostalgic
playing pt with my parents is one of my fondest experiences, i’ll always be grateful for being able to experience it
Bought my ps4 from a friend... has it on there... great friend.
You have explained this game so well keep up the good work
Just like how Hideo Kojima created stealth as a new genre, he also created another new genre.
The *HUDLESS* games genre
Virtually Hidden there are plenty of games without HUDs
It would fall under the walking simulator genre
Old resident evil games say hi..
HUDless isnt a genre but an art design decision that happens to work well for horror games
Someone never played Silent Hill 1-3.
There're a ton of games without HUDs
Such amazing things can happen in the gaming community. I love this. I hope the person who recreated PT will somehow get it on consoles.

the maker took it down already... why?
Wow man. You've made me realize so much. You are truly inspiring. I've never noticed so many things until now. Knowledge really is power. Without it, we would be hopeless💯
How to ruin A Quiet Place for fans:
How to unruin it:
It's fiction.

Don’t need to ruin that movie lol it sucked hard.
@@Thlormby oh right, i forgot that fiction shouldnt ever be criticized or be held up to any standards whatsoever

3. Theres actual reasons rhe world makes less sense but these 2 arent them
Hey! great video bro!
Greetings from Guatemala!

The fact you used footage from a remake instead of the actual demo should be a crime. The art and design of PT can't really be replicated.
7:02 "it would be horrifying. Or would it?" *enters Vsace music*

Silent Hills will be a reality one day.
I never got to play it I bought a playstation just too late :(
I remember being at such a loss when I heard they cancelled the Silent Hill game because of personal issues within the company. I was livid. I was mad at the company and the people working there that I didn't even know. I thought I was over it, but I went to the link in the description and even the remake has been taken down, and I'm throwing my hands up. Another great work lost.
