@@BMW_BETTER708 Uh...yes...I know. That would be the joke, Stefan. Me: Why did the chicken cross the road? You: Why was a chicken out of its coop? Me: 😐
A very good video. It also showed the lack of maintanence. The lack of ballast underneath the sleepers. Loose nuts and bolts holding the fishplates joining the rails. I hope the railway companies where this was filmed take note of these hazards.
In fact, they are not supposed to flex. The track needs cribbing which is the act of placing the gravel underneath areas of track that bend. Bending track can cause rail stress and a severe derailment if not done as soon as possible.
Great video. 😊. Sometimes it is almost scary how close the train approaches. There is also quit a lot of lack of maintenance. Then they wonder how a train could have derailed. 😮
Yea..The rails are not supposed to flex. The track needs cribbing which is the act of placing the gravel underneath areas of track that bend. Bending track can cause rail stress and a severe derailment if not done as soon as possible.
In theory they aren't even necessary for the train to stay on rails. The wheels are slightly sloped and mathematically are enough to keep the train from derailing both on straight paths and on turns. Of course in practice they ARE absolutely necessary and without them trains would derail at some point. But nevertheless it's the wheels themselves that do most of the job and flanges really don't need to be *that* big, they need to be just big enough to tip the scales, so to speak.
@@ahriman935, @johnjp is actually (mostly) correct. The flanges are really never needed at all to keep trains on track. The slope (angle to which a train wheel is cut to on a large lathe) is what keeps the running gear from hunting. Hunting is the amount to which the running gear (wheels, axles and other suspension parts) from drift from side to side. Ever ridden a train and experienced it going right to left, left to right, back and forth while wondering what stops it from going any further and assumed it was the wheel flanges? Well, it’s not the flanges. It’s actually the slope of the wheel, and before you ask, yes. Wheels do require (air quotes)“re-grinding” on occasion due to wear.
A good illustration of how much stress the rails, particularly at the joints are under. The loose screws and nuts equate on a road vehicle, to worn suspension, under-inflated tyres and lack of wheel balance and alignment; vital to safety and efficiency but often overlooked.
@03:25 been seeing a few loose bolts during this video. The lack of maintenance on other parts of the track is a bit worrisome too tbh. The japanese and chinese are really going next-gen with their magnetic tracks. That said, super relaxing video!
My dad told me how when he was a child, he'd get onto a trestle and stick his head up between the ties. As a train approached, at the last second, he'd duck his head down. I'll try and get him to watch this video.
Excellent piece of film, important and entirely for a certain type of XY chromosome people (men). Where was this filmed (looks central European)? Some of the sleepers and fishplate bolts really needed repair. Thank you for your contribution to You Tube.

Very nice videos!😁 The part with the 2 bridges was recorded in Oradea, at the Cris river, very close to the Aquapark? Am I right?😮😊 And the first scene somewhere at a smaller station towards Cluj maybe? Edit: Oh and almost all of them are recorded in Oradea! Ce fain! Hahaha. Time 03:00. Skruvs and bolts dancing..... Once a family was having a picknick, int middle of the veteran railroad tracks. They had found nails they could pull up with their hands and "were sure" no train could run there..... What the young teenager mountain bike riding thought when biking in the tracks I don't know. The horn button was locked in the bottom position and narrowly saved him.
Beautiful video. I just wanted to ask, the distance of wheel flange from track is only a few mm, wheels are conical, but how close or far the flange get from track on deep curve.
at 4:08 I love how they have spare tire with them just in case if one of the wheels gets broken. I wonder where they store jack for lifting the train in case they need that tire.

Nice video. At 3:30 there is a loose nut. Just tell them which part of the rail then the responsible engineer or foreman should send there a guy to fix it.
