That’s because the remake has more detailed fully mocapped animations, making it slower cause it’s not snapping into key frames. A lot of modern sequels have this difference in speed. Red Dead is a good example. In 1 when you snapped and popped out of cover it was as quick as in a twitch shooter, but bc of the animations in 2 it’s way fucking slower and makes you feel a lot less in control of the situation (it’s still a great game, but it’s hard not to notice how less powerful you feel based on the speed difference)

I know they want less of a gamey look to things these days but I do prefer sacrificing a bit of realism for responsiveness - RDR is a great example tho, I remember how quick/twitchy looking RDR1 was then you go to RDR2 and it takes you what it feels like ten minutes in comparison to do certain things haha

The main things they are different are just the overwhelming game graphics, with the facial features being less cartoon like, and a bit more… eww. And the rocket Arrows just feel, Meh. It may have been cool in Seattle tho… However, the Bloaters are are way more awesome new, it makes you really feel like fighting an indestructible monster, instead of a Slow, Crunchy blob that just throws sacks of Acid and rips your jaw open. It’s weird how they made it so that most of enemies look less like old, Bald gnomes, and more younger and vivid.
The music in this game really gets to me. Especially right after you save ellie and youre in the car and she wakes up and shes questioning joel. I don't think there's another game like this. Probably the best scene in this game that always hits me really hard is where joel gets impaled after falling and ellie helps joel out to their horse. A very emotional games. Holds a place in my heart.
One thing I really liked from the original was that joel turns his head when he says stay back 5:10 which to me added more emotional weight to his decision to save her as opposed to the remake where i noticed it right away.
I'm a lot more aggressive at certain points since they ramped up the AI. At the huge courtyard in Pittsburgh, right after the hotel, I throw a shrapnel bomb between 4 guys, killing at least 3. It makes the sequence much harder, but more satisfying compared to going full stealth and taking forever to complete it. In the original and the PS4 remaster, items would disappear after killing everyone. In the remake, all items stay where they are. This simple detail is really important in how I approach that gameplay bit. The visuals are just stelar too. I can't stop constantly replaying the 2 games. I must have beaten Part 1 forty times, including the original and the remaster. Part 2, close to thirty times, I stopped counting. Just beat Part 1 last night and will play No Return this evening. Best gameplay ever in my opinion!
The gameplay is addictive as hell. Currently playing the 2014 Remaster of TLOU on Grounded once again as we speak. No Return is a blast too, I didn't play Part 2 as much as the other games but that mode brought me back to it
@@gangg1762 More or less, but yeah. Gaming is my main source of entertainment and The Last of Us series has my favorite gameplay, atmosphere and story. I've beaten Elden Ring 4 times and every time, I complete the whole map leaving just a few bosses. I replay my games a lot when they're that good.

I love the look of remake but the original had a cool art style too. It was faster because of the fact the animations were more snappy and I preferred that, more fast paced. It's pretty annoying in Remake when you're in a full combo and Joel just stops throwing and it takes you ten years to pull out a weapon after punching, it ruins the flow of combat the original had and as someone who makes a lot of combat edits it's a bit of an eyesore in the editing so I end up with these unnatural skips lol

Remake Melee combat is very much slowed down (as is the whole game due to the better animations) but most of the animations are rather similar and stuck in the PS3 era anyway. Like, some of them look kinda half-baked with weird camera angles, especially the melee weapon finishers. I'm not a fan of that personally. I love the remake for everything else but the gameplay on a whole does feel slowed down and thus weaker, it can lead to a lot of frustrating deaths just because Joel can't move as fast in a game that deals with a lot of Part 2's Enemy/Combat Framework - Look at No Return in Part 2's Remaster, a lot of top players deliberately avoid using Joel and Tommy because the game wasn't built specifically for them. Slowing the player down for realism purposes just doesn't go over well for a lot of people, sometimes Joel feels like he moves underwater in the Remake honestly
If you look at comparisons between the two versions the remake doesnt really look better as a whole, facial animations are def better and show more emotion, but everything else its just a different artstyle. I actually prefer the gritty realistic comic-book artstyle of the original. I wouldnt change part 2's artstyle though, the game is beautiful, im not sure how the OG's artstyle would be built upon because it seemed peak with the remaster, probably why they did change it.

For some reason, when I play the original with headphones, the audio doesn't feel right. The character dialogue out of cutscenes is way too fucking low. I try to up the volume only to get my ears blasted with gunshot sounds and explosions. IDK WTF is happening, and that makes the experience WAY worse.
Do what the other guy said, the 'midnight' audio range should blend the Loud and Quiet sounds together better. I know audio pain rn, my headset stops blending audio through each ear if I have it up too loud or too quiet it goes into mono audio lol it's got a sweet-spot on it
I used the Microsoft Bing Image Creator - It's totally free and uses a high-end AI like DALL-E 3 I believe, sometimes your prompts get flagged for no reason which can lead to suspensions so make several accounts to use it with if you're planning on using it a lot. It's not perfect but it's up there alright

I feel like it makes up for some unfairish deaths while still allowing me to take risks and stuff... Especially since I make content, don't want to be popping off on a cinematic killing streak then get domed from miles away because I tried to move out of cover and all that, it'd be a total vibe killer
On Grounded you don't get enough ammo or supplies to run around in order to make content like the Remake half of the video lol You can kill them all sure but you'd have to pick them off in stealth which isn't super interesting to watch, on Grounded if you can skip a fight you're basically meant to - Which is what I did a lot of the time on my other TLOU Remastered vid after this
fights r way less intense in the remake. in the fight on tommys dam in the og the enemies would run over and fistfight you and tommy, making it so you couldn't camp in the same spot for too long. in the remake the enemies just stay crouched behind cover and you can sit there for 15 minutes and nothing will happen. they also ignore tommy melee wise even when they're right next to him, I can't get any sort of brawl to trigger like I could in the og other than them occasionally shooting him, making him feel way more invisible than any ally in the original did. lame
Tbf in the remaster you can literally run by the whole first section of the fight. Though I do find things like that in the remake which you highlighted. It shows that other than a few refinements here and there plus the graphic overhaul it can be a slight bit of a let down gameplay-wise sometimes
Eh... he did quite a few things 'wrong' arguably but his death was a bit contrived for my liking. I've no problem with him dying but just not the way he did, especially the leadup to it.

The OG is just better. The remake and Part 2 are just too slow and clunky. It takes 12 frames from you aiming until your shot can go off for the majority of the weapons in the OG. It takes 30 for the smg in Part 2. (Haven't tested the other weapons)

@@Indigo_1001 Climbing, Punching, Grabs, Brick bashing and the ability to kill an enemy the instant you grab them hostage by pressing square are all noticeably slower. Joel also has Stamina in Remake so he will run slower at some point too

go to audio settings and select low dynamic range or select midnight
