    Fantastic video. I was lucky enough to camp right on the summit in June 2023. Blue skies and sunshine the whole weekend and very little wind. As wild camping goes, this will take some beating, the views just take your breathe away. My first wild camp in Scotland and my first sunset/sunrise from the same summit.
    What tent are you using, it looks more like a tarp and looks amazing, I want one

    Think seen it before but enjoyed that Robin. It shows its possible to make a good realistic movie with no aerial footage, head camera and music. Had a laugh to see you both drinking good IaG beer on the way and Kevin with his plastic bag.. probably full of more beers..?? :-] Nice sunset and sunrise. Ye I would agree Suilven and bothy in summer only in weekdays or weekend but not in summer time. Love that mountain, been once and planning to go back and approach it from same direction Edie did in movie. Cheers

      @@WalkWithWallace I found out answer! This wall is known as Famine Wall and is a part of the Destitution Roads throughout upper Scotland. During the Great Potato famine of 1860, rich land owners would force common folk to make walls and roads to nowhere just for food. This is one such wall. Many Scots immigrated to other countries to survive. Those that couldn’t fell at the mercy of the rich land owners.

    What an amazing spot. What is your advice for somebody who would love to try wild camping, but hasn't done it before?

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  2 роки тому

      Hi Simon, assuming you're already a expereinced hill walker, get everything you need together like your tent, sleeping bag, mat, cook setup etc and then maybe plan a local wild camp where you could bail if you weren't enjoying it or if possible go with a more experienced friend. Don't over think it, it's normal to be a bit apprehensive if it's your first solo wild camp.

  • @OBE87

    How long is the hike to where you camped from where you left your car? And what's the distance to the bothy from the car? Cheers.

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  5 років тому +1

      If you include Canisp into your itinerary, then allow around 6-7hrs. If just Suilven and pitch approx 4-5hrs. The bothy is within an hour of where you park just before Glencanisp Lodge.

      Haha, you'll love it Mari. Tips wise, go mid week if possible. Always hard to gauge how many folk will be actually camping out as most people day trip it. This is my most viewed wild camping video and I posted it back when I had less than 1000 subs, so that tells you something. 😆 Long walk in on the track, then a short and sharp pull up to that wall and some mild exposure .
