Cant believe I haven't seen your channel sooner Robin, I've a major operation forthcoming but when fit again this is 100% the target to get fit again for, midweek hopefully alone (ish) just me and my dog. well worth the +1000 m round trip. Thank you for sharing,as said this video is now my motivation to get through the sht and back on the hill. Take care fella and be safe.
Fantastic video. I was lucky enough to camp right on the summit in June 2023. Blue skies and sunshine the whole weekend and very little wind. As wild camping goes, this will take some beating, the views just take your breathe away. My first wild camp in Scotland and my first sunset/sunrise from the same summit. What tent are you using, it looks more like a tarp and looks amazing, I want one New subscriber for sure❤️🏴
Cheers Andy, it’s a fine mountain to camp on isn’t it. Loved this trip despite the wind. That was my old MLD Trailstar tarp, since sold it to fund another tent 😄
@@WalkWithWallace been watching a few of your vids recently. keep up the good work. Its the next best things since we cant get to them during this bloody lockdown. So frustrating!
@@andrewsadventures5747 tell me about it, I've been up the Pentlands loads during the last year. Which is good, but missing the Highlands. Missing a great winter too. 🙈
Think seen it before but enjoyed that Robin. It shows its possible to make a good realistic movie with no aerial footage, head camera and music. Had a laugh to see you both drinking good IaG beer on the way and Kevin with his plastic bag.. probably full of more beers..?? :-] Nice sunset and sunrise. Ye I would agree Suilven and bothy in summer only in weekdays or weekend but not in summer time. Love that mountain, been once and planning to go back and approach it from same direction Edie did in movie. Cheers
Cheers Jonas, loved this trip. 👌🏼 This was all filmed on my old Samsung Galaxy S7 phone. We didn't go mental, 4 beers each. 😂 PS. I look forward to seeing how you get on following Edie's route. BTW I don't think that bothy she stayed in exists there. 😄
@@WalkWithWallace I found out answer! This wall is known as Famine Wall and is a part of the Destitution Roads throughout upper Scotland. yet another pitch and booze and cook video.UA-camrs are wrecking the wilderness areas like they have the Derbyshire Peak district where all overnights have been banned because of the tonnes of rubbish they re leaving behind
Excellent Robin it's a fantastic landscape. Yeah the bothy and your pitch spot are good options but I think I try and camp at the summit but we see what the weather does. ATB. I didn't realise you upload alot lol I'll be watching your channel from now on

Drove "em mad..Best tip I've got is dive out the tent and head up to funicular car park. Above the treeline and windy nuff to get shot of the Midges!! Job done🤔.👍👍
Excellent video, Robin! I'm currently working my way through a particularly tedious night shift and wondering when the hell we're going to get the green light to return to the hills, but channels like your own are a fine substitute for these extraordinarily strange times and they're successfully managing to scratch my hillwalking itch. Suilven and Assynt in general look spectacular and I'm sincerely hoping it won't be too long until I get the opportunity to visit myself. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your future content!

Hopefully not with a frigging GoPro and camping overnight and helping to wreck a great summit location .Walk it in and out in one day like everyone else used to till UA-cam got people interested in overnighting
Hi Simon, assuming you're already a expereinced hill walker, get everything you need together like your tent, sleeping bag, mat, cook setup etc and then maybe plan a local wild camp where you could bail if you weren't enjoying it or if possible go with a more experienced friend. Don't over think it, it's normal to be a bit apprehensive if it's your first solo wild camp.

Another example how yank UA-cam is wrecking everywhere lonely and scenic
Hi mate, it's a MLD Trailstar. If you don't mind a bit of breeze in your shelter then it's fantastic for summit camping outwith midge season. I done a little review of it here: ua-cam.com/video/vpsz05MN8wA/v-deo.html
If you include Canisp into your itinerary, then allow around 6-7hrs. If just Suilven and pitch approx 4-5hrs. The bothy is within an hour of where you park just before Glencanisp Lodge.
Haha! Good acting, Kevin. Stunning place, looks very remote & wild. I’m wanting to do this hike & wild camp next week, Robin! 😁 Any tips? You said go midweek but you reckon Friday will be busy?? Cheers, Mari
Haha, you'll love it Mari. Tips wise, go mid week if possible. Always hard to gauge how many folk will be actually camping out as most people day trip it. This is my most viewed wild camping video and I posted it back when I had less than 1000 subs, so that tells you something. 😆 Long walk in on the track, then a short and sharp pull up to that wall and some mild exposure . Otherwise fairly straight forward. 😁
@@WalkWithWallace I’m looking forward to it! Learning it can be busy just gave me some mild anxiety. 🙈 Will have to walk all the way from Lochinver so I’m thinking whether it’s good idea to stop off at the Bothy for the night then head on to Suilven in the morning..?
