    As a Doctor Who fan since the 1970's the end of this episode was the most exciting 15 minutes in the entirety of New Who! Those of us familiar with the Master knew exactly which Time Lord it was going to be!

    I love how they executed the fob watch twist! Setting it up earlier in the series to bring it back for the master reveal, the Face of Boe's last words spelling out Yana's name while also telling the doctor he wan't the last of the time lords. This is one of my favourite twists the show pulls

    Ah yes! The second half of Series 3… Chefs kiss. I was only 11 when this aired and didn’t realise just who THAT was. But my dad watched DW growing up so I knew by his reaction it was important. 7:44 The nice jolly music that plays around the Professor all throughout the episode at various points is the Gallifrey theme. I like how before the big reveal the soundtrack is basically saying ‘look! Look! he’s from gallifrey’ 😂

    I cannot even put into words what it felt like to watch this live if you knew classic Who. Tennant's performance is incredible. The Doctor hears there's another Time Lord alive and he knows - he just knows - that if one more of his race survives then it has to be The Master. Nobody else could possibly have survived, and here he is. I was so hyped for the whole week.

  • @phantomsidious2934
    @phantomsidious2934 Рік тому +8

    The last 14 minutes of this story for me is the best thing modern who has ever done, its incredible. The drama, the tension and the acting is perfect and for a classic fan like me it was amazing to see the Master return and it being done so well. When yana is looking at the watch you can hear a classic Masters chuckle and then audio from one of the other previous Master's. And Derek Jacobi's acting is incredible. Going from a kind good hearted man to an evil monster within seconds is so well done. I wish he had been the Master for longer to be honest as he kind of represents the classic series Master which I prefer. Simm does a great job though.

    Every once in a while, I freak out my son by saying "HOOOO-MAHHHHHHNNNNNS!" ... There were internet rumours about the big bad of series 3 being The Master, that Mister Saxon was an anagram for Master No Six. But the entire twist with the fob watch was so good, the Doctor talking with Martha and being actually scared that Yana could see the watch. It was probably the first time I'd been thrilled by the show since the dialogue between the Satellite 5 Controller and the Doctor - my masters in the dark spaces.

      @@BritanyBinges Even though you're ahead of this point, my philosophy is to avoid future spoilers out of respect to the viewers who might be watching the series for the 1st time alongside your reactions. Series 8... Ok... No spoilers... So - I really wish that they had left Derek in the role. I do love Sims' Master particularly *not* his first run at it... He really knocks it out of the park later... But - Derek Jacobi was great, and could have given so much more.
    Watching this for the first time, I don't recall if we the audience were meant to know the Master was returning or not... but because of the delays, I certainly knew going in. It's hard for me to watch something like this subjectively because I know the characters, so it's great being able to watch someone who has no idea who the Master is. RTD did do a great job at reintroducing him.
    As for the Doctor finding a dick of a Time Lord... not every Time Lord is a dick... but... [checks your Classic Who feed] Ok. Well... I'll just say - it's always fun. :)
