Beautiful car and nice report. I had the opportunity to buy a dark blue 993 Carrera 4S in March 1998 - one of the last 993/4S ever built - here in Switzerland. This was also my first Porsche. Now it is 22 years old, looks like new and I still drive it, but only about 2000 km/year to prevent it for one of my children. Hope that in the future you will be allowed to drive this wonderful car and not suddenly petrol cars will be banned completely. That would be a disaster.
You should touch base with "Cars with Luke' on youtube, Lives in Zurich and needs a a 9934S for CH winters, tell him the merits of such a beautiful car in the Alps.
@@911aircooled5 I know his channel; thank you. But my 993 has never seen snow and almost never rain, is washed exclusively by hand and therefore it is not an option to test its perfect winter set-up. Apart from the low ground clearance 🙂
@@Seanboxter1 Fair call. I never drove my 993Turbo in the rain or wet roads. It was immaculate, better than factory. Sold it recently to fund my 992GT3 (and again, never driven in the wet)
Ditto. I have a 993 turbo and I much prefer that over my 997 GT3. Right from the moment you open a door on the 993, it just takes you on a journey, and a very happy one!
Exactly. Every times I open (and close: CLACK) the door of my 1996 Cabriolet, it brings me vintage-like in the Sixties. But when I drive it hard into corners in the Swiss Alps the car shows that Porsche did everything right with the technical innovations with the Multilink Rear!
Loved this video. These mountains are my backyard and I drive these roads often in my mk7 GTI. 911 has and always will be the dream. I look forward to the day when I'm ripping through these canyons in my own Porsche.

993 is the best looking Porsche ever made. I just can't get over it how good looking car it is. Don't get me wrong I like 997 and 992 and they're among the best looking modern cars but 993 was just the "peak" of the whole 911 range. At least when it comes to looks. Perfection.

BUT I miss the growl of an engine, the control I have on the gears, the build up to that point of exhilaration that only a Porsche (or an E36) can deliver. It feels like the car is wrapped around me when I’m in the driver’s seat. I’m one with the machine. I’ll never sell it and plan to leave it to my children but not for a long, long time.

Love my 993 C4S. Slow by today's standards, but still provides an amazing driving experience. The front headlight design is a love or hate item. The widebody rear is IMHO the best looking 911 ever produced. Even the non widebody has wide hips. Love the sound of the door click opening and closing. Last of the air cooled 911's and has an A/C that actually works.

I watched this video a couple of years ago. I had a 911 SC and only hoped that one day I could have a 993 4S. I just realized I now have a ‘96 C4S in my garage also with rest of the world stance and bumpers. I now wonder how it will be to own a 993 Turbo and wishing for a 993 Turbo S. :-) Does the wanting and the next Porsche ever stop?
I would love to see a comparison video story of the new and old generation. Not only in terms of 911 models but the young and old owners of Porsche. As the region president of Porsche Club China, many Porsche 911 owners in my region, like myself, are under 35. Would be great to see the difference and similarities in thought and appreciation between old and new. :)
930 Turbo looks amazing and so iconic. I own a 996 (yeah I'm poor and can't afford the air cooled). Best looking 911's are the 930, 993 S and 964 RS. If I had all the money in the world I'd buy all three. But damn that widebody 993 still takes the cake as the ultimate Porsche perfection.

280hp and 240lb/ft of torque. The new Honda Civic R could probably outrun this car. That 993 body though...... Porsche has come a very long way in terms of power from the 90's.
as proverb say: you better drive a less strong machine hard than a strong machine weak. The 285 HP combined with the muscle bound body and technique of 993 nowadays with mostly crowded streets are enough...
I love 911s but there’s something about the owners that gets under my skin. I have a 951 and the second they hear that it’s like your the cousin that came from incest. Then talk about their 911 like it’s an experience I will never understand kinda like the tone he’s speaking. Idk how to explain it but just gets me

Rear wheel drive is better 2S, the only thing the 4S has is the wide rear hips from the turbo which are beautiful.
The Carrera S has the same wide hips in the rear as the C4S.
