    I have a question about when I have been shooting I have noticed my opponents legs are farther out of my reach and it's not because I have short arms but do you know anything I should do to grab a leg because I was waiting for him to step

      +Italian Stallion Sounds like you need to work on setups. Look at the double leg series on my website. It shows my progressive system of learning technique. If you watch these videos and drill them you will be able to develop a successful leg attack. Each element is important for an attack to succeed. Motion, setup, changing levels, penetration and finish. www.kolat.com/double-leg-series

    Hey Cary awesome tutorial. I've got a question and I'm really interested in wrestling. I'm a junior in high school and want to join the wrestling team. Since it'll be my first year do you think I'll be at a big disadvantage compared to the others? I've got experience in BJJ if that helps.

      +Kevin Chan thats when i started. i started end of my sophmore year. just find a good club and camp. also make some friends who are serious. and go to tournaments during the off season.
      1. club all year except for match days or day before matches.
      2. wrestling camp during summer. try to get the coach to make it a team thing.
      3 tournaments

      +Kevin Chan I suggest you check out the curriculum on my website to see the basics that are needed for every beginning wrestler: www.kolat.com/4-to-6-year-teaching-curriculum.html You are at a big disadvantage but if you are serious you can training year round and drill everyday to make up for missed time.

      +Kevin Chan I began wrestling later than you did. It was during the season OF my Junior year in HS. I wrestled my 2 years, went to camp only once and that was between my junior and senior years then went on to wrestle 5 years at Fresno State back in the 80's. My only goal was to be a decent college wrestler when I was done because I started too late to excel at it. I didn't belong on the collegiate mat my first 3 years as I took daily beatings in practice but I gutted it out. By the time I was finished I was a 2 year letterman and had a 9-8 record as a 4th year junior.

    • @KOLATCOM
      @KOLATCOM  8 років тому +2

      +Wolf6764 Not really possible. It's a 2 point tilt in Freestyle and most likely the opponent will belly out and you will go behind. However, it is possible to get to a reverse half if you release the lock and pull his chin and elbow apart when you are on your side and turn back over his head.

    I love your videos I think you are a great coach. In Cuba they teach you not to chest lock down anybody because the bottom men wraps both of top men's elbows and turns him on his back.

    • @KOLATCOM
      @KOLATCOM  8 років тому +2

      +305Mrfrank Thanks! Yes you have to be aware of that counter move. You can prevent it by locking high on the chest and pinching your elbows to keep your opponent from capturing them. Best of luck to you!

      @@wyattsparks5911 the rule in folkstyle is that the guy on top cant lock his hands around the body, while on the ground. In this position neither wrestlers have scored a takedown, so no one is considered on top, and both can lock around the body. Although this move isn't quite as useful in folkstyle, it is legal

      You can us this in folkstyle but you will not receive back points for a quick tilt so it is not worth the risk. Better to switch to a front headlock and work a on a short drag or shuck to go behind for a takedown.
