    Cool. In judo we call the throw sumi gaeshi. I use it all the time. Never thought of it as a defense against a single like this. Have always tried for uchi mata in the past but now I'll try SG.

    My name is Govind.
    Iam a high school wrestler.
    This is one of the rare and best tricks i have seen.Iam from India.
    Indian wrestlers didnt do this they simply give out2 points.I won a match using this technique

    I've just learned this from a different video where it was shown as a grappling technique for sweeping, and I thought it was cool. And when I asked my coach about it who was a wrestler, he said that it was an old wrestling move, and now I see it here. How cool is that. :)

      I asked my coach too. He told me it is a variation of a Catch-as-Catch can sweep for the double wrist lock.

    Really effective detail to not go over the head but grab the cross lat then it seems like you sit to the other foot to throw them. It helps the rotation and avoids getting caught underneath.

    Saw Chael Sonnen do this in a training clip, but great to hear the explanation to the counter off the single leg. Stuffing the head and then trying to stomp the foot down while prying the arms up can be really predictable. Getting points from this precarious position I didn't think was possible. sic videos for transitioning to mma wrestling

    hey cary, thanks for this GREAT move. I have tried it around 10 times in my matches and it worked 100%. I'm a sophomore and this is my first year wrestling. And u made it to state but I didn't win anything but I got two more years ahead of me. And I've been trying to get into legriding and I'm alright but I could get better. so if you can post any videos on legriding that would be great. thank you

      +Rachel Dude-Will In folkstyle wrestling you can roll across your back without losing points if you are in control. In freestyle you can lose points by rolling to your back if the other wrestler initiates the technique.

    I have a question. Whenever I'm wrestling an opponent who is not extremely aggressive on my head, all my moves fall into place, I can set up ankle picks, doubles or whatever is open. But when I wrestle an extremely aggressive hand fighter I end up forgetting how to wrestle and I go straight into a defensive mindset. How could I control the pace and slow down my opponent in those situations?

    leave the foot in and pressure with the knee and grab the hunny hole, the opponents knee will probably be easy to grab

      If you clearly initiate a counter move then you will be awarded the points even if you expose your back.

    I get thrown by this all the time at my gym when going for a single. Is there a good way to prevent this or counter it?

      +Leio Heyenrath Don't hesitate to finish and always keep good head position - try to hit a dump to re-dump and get the leg out from between your legs.     Kimura grip if legal is really strong...this is a judo sumi gaeshi and a really great defense

      Is called Double Wrist Lock in wrestling. The original name for "kimura grip" But that's another technique altogether.

    Alternatively, instead of the lat+wrist grip, kimura grip's more fun and lands you right into the opportunity for a submission. ;)
