I ended up replacing the ink and it's fine now. Everywhere I looked online said that the ink dries up after a long period of time without being used. But thank you so much for the help!!
It's because the ink hasn't dropped yet to the bottom of the cartridge. If you put a napkin at the bottom of the cartridge it should impregnate with ink. If not, either allow a couple of hours or put the cartridge inside a napkin (to prevent spilling ink everywhere in the room) then keep it in your hand and make a quick arm rotation to force the ink down by centrifuge force. I definitely took the tape off and unwrapped and inserted it properly - the computer even recognizes the cartridge as full - but when I print anything black or grey (even the alignment page) nothing shows up. I have tried restarting, cleaning the print heads, and several other things that I've forgotten about because I've tried so many things but it still will not print black! Please help!! Thank you!
i just got 2 brand new HP cartridges for my c4795. The color one literally doesn't fit. The slot it the printer is not lined up, it is further to the right than the plastic on top of the cartridge.

It shows the cartridges required for the different regions. If the carriage is not lined up, then I would recommend following the steps in the "A 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays for HP Photosmart C4600 and C4700 All-in-One Series Printers" document ( ow.ly/VUowY ). Please start with 'Solution six: Perform a power reset'. It is important to plug the printer into a wall outlet for that set of instructions. If that doesn't help, then work your way through the document from the beginning.

Let's reset the printing system: - Go to System Preferences > Print & Fax - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System. WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers! - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Right-click the printer name, and left-click Properties. Click the Ports tab, and widen the first column which displays IP address of the printers.
my printer just says PHOTOSMART. i dont see any code like C4635, C4640, C4650, C4680, C4683, C4685, C4688, C4740, C4750, C4780, C4783, or C4788 All-in-One printer. that is a problem with HP. you have so many makes, models, codes, serial, and product numbers that u cant tell which product you have...to say nothing of the fact that they are often 158 characters long and u cant tell the dif tween a 0 and an o or a 1. and an l. my HP printer goes by the names D110a and CN731A-among other aliases

Is this the type of ink I should be using? The 60XL or can I use different ink like 933? This is my first printer and I'm clueless.

hi I just found out the problem with mine... I just needed black ink (Because I only have the tri coloured one).. thank you though..
