We visited the Britannia, near Edinburgh, a few years ago. It was amazing to be on the ship, were the Queen and Lady Diana spent a lot of time. And to go the same ways and touch some things they had touched like the telephone on the sun chair deck.
I was stationed with the US Navy in San Diego in Aug of 1981..The morning news told that the royal couple would be stopping at the area known then as Shelter Island..it was very high security and was a submarine base on the water side. Anyway, I just happened to live about a block away from Cabrillo National Monument at what was called Sunset Cliffs. Long story short, I was able to walk over from my apartment to a high point overlooking the inlet there and watched HRY Brittania make her way to port there. Pretty amazing..I always have wondered if Diana saw me up there by myself waving a welcome...

He made that choice but he could have easily chosen a bride from among the Princesses and noble families of Europe - women with some understanding of what this royal match would be, and not a teenager propelled by a romantic dream.
He could also have remained a batchelor with his old squeeze on the side.
Does he have autistic tendencies perhaps. He does seem to be locked within his own needs without understanding both the needs of others, and that those needs are equally as valid as his own.
